"They should be back by now" Rex concluded, Rex was sincerely bored after he had tried his best to train every pony how to properly use a gun the only pony's who seemed to have picked up anything were the ones called Applejack and Rainbow Dash. Even though they wrent exactly taking shots at lest they would know how to keep a gun steady. "I'm going out to look around a little bit" they all told him to be cautious and watch out for changelings. Rex wandered around until he came across and old boutique. He went into it only to see most of the stuff had been ravaged, he spotted something, a black cloth, it had a hood, someone wanted to move around without being seen, there were no places to put arms or legs so he tried it on and surprisingly enough it fit. He walked around a little bit more till he decided to come back.

Aaron pried the staff from the changeling's chest, green blood dripping from the tip. Aaron walked over to the cowering Fluttershy. She had tears running down the side of her face. She was balling her eyes out. Placing his hand on her shoulder, she jumped and gave a small whimper. Looking up at Aaron, she seemed to have calmed down a bit. Puling her to her hooves, Aaron escorted her back to the Library. Still holding the loaves of bread. They walked in silence once more, until they came across another destroyed home. Coming to a halt, Aaron went in to search for some supplies with Fluttershy behind him. They didn't want a replay of last time. Upon entering he found an ice chest. There wasn't any ice in it, but it would make for a good storage unit. And next to it were two tents left by some other ponies. Where they were, he didn't want to know.

 

"Come. Lets get back to the library."

"O-Okay."

The two made their tread back to the library. A minute or so passed and the two opened the door and was greeted by gasped of fear, then sighs of relief. Pinkie was the first to greet Aaron and Fluttershy.

"Oh my gosh. You're safe."

"Indeed. Its so good to see you are both safe."

Aaron put the ice chest down.

"Good to see you're all safe as well."

Rex was standing upstairs looking outside the window with his black cloak on, he came down the stairs and looked at the stuff that Aaron had brought back. "I tried teaching them how to use a gun but only the Rainbow and Applejack retained any real skill, but at lest the others will know how to reload and aim, which is still pretty good". He looked at the loot Aaron came back with he did pretty good for his first time outside, he wondered what eke was left out there.

Aaron looked over the group. They seemed to be resting. That was smart. Getting what little rest they could before they had to leave. Placing his jacket and staff in the corner, Aaron made his way to the couch. Rarity on the other side. Placing his head down he began to drift off to sleep. But before he could, he felt something soft curl around his arm. He found the butter yellow Pegasus. He decided to give her the arm. Aaron was able to drift to sleep. The group was at peace for the moment. The thought of two strange warriors, brought their minds ease. Thinking that their friends and family may return one day.

 

An hour or two passed as Aaron arose and slid his arm out from Fluttershy. Retrieving his bow staff, he began to bang it on the hard wood floor, riling everypony from their sleep.

"Alright guys, time to get a move on."
The group began to stur.

"Five more minutes."

Seeing rarity's refusal to awaken. He would have to do it personally. Stepping forward to her, he began to gently shake her.

"Rarity, wake up."
"Oh, do I have to? I do need my beauty rest."
"Your beautiful enough. Now, lets get ready to leave. The sun is peaking over the horizon."

Rex packed the shotguns and the pistols in his bag, he hadn't gone to sleep he wanted to watch the sun rise, he heard the staff banging on the ground, he looked bellow and watched as he woke everyone up. "Get up and pack everything we need" Rex yelled from the top of the stairs. It took ten minutes to pack everything that was needed, the pony's used saddles to place their belongings. "Is everyone ready we don't know how long the journey to the first species is going to be, but we have to be prepare for everything", Rex hinted towards his bag with a shotgun, "I'm not going to be following right next to or behind you, I'll follow but from a distance"

"Very well then. Twilight will lead the way. She has lead us for a couple of years, so I don't see why we should change things. Aaron, Which town are we heading for first?"
Aaron was examining the map of this land. A lot of the places had X's and O's on them. The town they were in, Ponyville had a red X on it. Most likely having been the state or who controlled it. However, most of the cities had X's on it. The capital had a big one on it.
"Well, the closest town I can find that may be safe for us is Hollow Shades."
"B-But that place is far from here. It would take a long time."

"Well I'm sorry Fluttershy, but that's the closest one to us that is safe. Next to that is Las Pegasus, but that's in the opposite direction of the gryphon kingdom. After that we can sneak onto a train to get to horse shoe bay and find a boat to travel to the next continent over."
They looked to Aaron debating the choice in their heads. Rarity came up first and spoke.

"Alright then. Shall we make haste."

Rex opened the door and made haste to a building that casted a large shadow, he had no inter ion on getting to know anyone here , he wanted to finish this stupid journey so he could go home. Rex wondered how long he had been gone for in his world. They walked a little bit further till they encountered a convoy of passing wagons, the pony's along with Aaron ducked into nearby bush, they watched as the changing a interrogated a group of defenseless pony's . They're were five of them probably a normal size squad. Rex looked over to Aaron, honestly he didn't like seeing anyone harassed, he thought about his sword, but he would be terribly overwhelmed, then he pulled out his pistol, 'Six rounds' Rex thought enough to make one mistake Rex charged towards the changelings hoping he wouldn't be the only one to intervene.

The six ponies hid behind the bushes from a caravan of prisoner. Rex brought out his pistol. He was about to attack. Aaron didn't want to attack without purpose. But freeing prisoners is a purpose none the less.

"Stay here."
Aaron jumped into the air, propelled by his staff. Bringing it down on a two guards. It struck one and he swung it to his left and hit two more in their skull, breaking their exoskeleton. Siris fired his gun in a few directions, each one scoring a great hit. Within seconds the changelings were dead. Walking over to the cage door, he grabbed a key from a body and released the prisoners. In the bushes the six watched as the two fought off the guards.

"Such ferocity. Such precision. So... majestic."
"I know. That was amazing."

"Let's keep moving" Rex asked as he reloaded his pistol in an epic style, he walked away with only a small grin, that felt exhilarating, almost fun to kill your enemies, but Rex wasn't a killed he knew this. The pony's and people kept walking along the dirt path only looking behind them to see if anyone was following them, unexpectedly no one was. He could see Aaron was trying to spark some conversation, one of which Rex had no care for.

(Applejack)"I ain't seen s'uch ferocity in m'ah entire life, you sure know how to wield that staff Aaron"

[Mr. Critical 434]

"Thank you Applejack. It wasn't really anything though."

"I must disagree. You handled that broom stick like it was an actual weapon. Are you sure you're not a warrior?"

"Yeah. How did you learn to do that."

"I get bored really easy, so I find ways to keep myself occupied. As you can tell, handling a bow staff was one of them. And I assure you I am not a man of war. I am a man of peace. I do not fight for myself, but for others."
Aaron gave a smile, showing his canines. Fluttershy gave a gasp.

"What's wrong Fluttershy?"
"Um... Aaron. What do you eat?"
Aaron was taken by surprise by this.

"My diet consists of meat, vegetables, starches, and other things."
They looked a bit wary. Aaron rolled his eyes.

"I don't eat equine. I assure you, none of you will be eaten."

The sun was rising above them as the group got a better view of the land. As they left the town limits, the land seemed to look a little better. Some trees had some life to it and the grass looked green. Aaron took a deep breath in on his surroundings.

"So. How far to our destination?"
Aaron looked behind him to see the white unicorn ask her question.

"About three days. Shorter if there isn't any opposition."
"Ugh. But that's so loooong."
"Sorry, Pinkie. Its the closest one. Unless you want to go to an enemy controlled area."
She seemed to grow quiet after that.

 

"So, Aaron. Tell us about yourself."
"Uh. Okay. I was a student back in high school. I love comic books. And I hate the outdoors."
"What about family?"
"I don't know. We were extremely distant."
"Oh. Any hobbies?"
"I like to draw. I was a real movie fanatic."
"A what now?"

"Never mind."

Rex moved along the side of the road, he stopped suddenly, it was getting darker he wondered if everyone should settle down for the night. He walked over to the group, "Aaron it's getting darker I suggest we find some shelter, there an old hospital or there it looks run down, it would suffice for a night" They all looked at Rex and the. Back to Aaron waiting to see if Aaron would agree with him.

"Agreed. There could be some medical supplies we can gather as well."
The group made their way to the abandoned hospital. Aaron opened the door with a long creek. They all walked in, and thanks to Rarity and Twilight, they were able to see around. It was decimated, but the lobby could be suitable for a place to sleep.

"Alright. Pinkie and Fluttershy, set up the tents. Applejack, set a fire. Rainbow, scout the area. Rarity, come with me to look for supplies. Siris, go with Dash to look for supplies when she's done with her scout of the area."

With that the group did as they were told. Aaron and Rarity left to look for some things that may be of use. The two looked around warily in Rarity's magical glow. A small whimper could be heard escaping her. Aaron wasn't exactly a fan of the dark either.

 

"A-Aaron, darling. Do w-we have to be searching for supplies in the d-dark?"
"Well, we might as well find some now. There's no telling what could happen in this place."
Looking around in fear, Rarity heard a rock fall, sending echos. She let out a small screech and drew closer to the warrior.

Rex pulled out his shotgun as he watched the others fix the tents. He put the slugs in his shotgun and pumped it,

(Rainbow Dash)"Place is all clear Siris"

"Wow that was fast" Rex proclaimed

She bent down and spread out her wings (Rainbow Dash)"Fastest flier in Equestria remember"

Rex grinned, "I don't doubt that, Come on we gotta start looking for supplies" they both wandered around away from the other pony's

Rarity and Aaron were searching through the halls, checking each door as they past one. The two were a bit terrified in the dark halls. At least Rarity had someone to be her shining knight, or so she thought.

"So Aaron, how many rooms do we have to check?"
"One more should be good. Then we can get back to the camp."

Aaron and Rarity came across their final door. Though they had found a few useful supplies before, there was no such thing as too many. They walked into a patients room of some kind. Aaron began to look through the room. Rarity was tired of this tension and wanted to lighten the mood. She looked around and found an outfit. taking a page from Pinkie Pie she slipped it on.

"Oh Aaron."
"Yes Rarity." He turned around to find a nurse rarity. He could barely contain himself.

"The doctor is in." Now it was her turn to snicker a bit. It wasn't exactly funny, but at this point they would take any chance to feel a bit positive.

"I must say this outfit is rather darling.

"Oh yeah."

"I do. I wish I could have used it as reference to my fashion line. I used to be a dress maker."
"Really. That's interesting. Somepony like you, I'd expect nothing less of class included in your profession."
"Oh stop, your too much."
"Really, I could tell you were a lady of sophistication by the time I laid my eyes on you. You just ooze classiness."

Aarons attempts at lightening the mood with flattery were doing just that. Maybe a little too much. All the while Aaron searched the room, he made playful banter with the white mare. Their fears moved to the corner for a later time.

Rex was looking for supplies along with Rainbow Dash, the hadn't talked much and Rex didn't think the blue Pegasus minded very much anyway.

(Rainbow Dash)"So Siris, why don't you trust us enough with your real name?"

"Cause I don't plan on making any friend here"

(Rainbow Dash)"Ironic, Equestria use to be all about Friendship"

Rex shrugged, "Do you compete in races?"

Rainbow Dash, jumped up, "Only every chance I get!" Spreading out her wings she added, "Some day I'm going to join the Wonder-Bolts!"

"Wonder-Bolts?" Rex asked

(Rainbow Dash)"Yeah, there the best fliers in all Equestria!"

"Sounds Bad-Ass" Rex admitted

(Rainbow Dash)"You betcha! The do super awesome tricks and stunts"

They wandered around talking more about the Wonder-Bolts and there history, Rainbow Dash seemed to know a lot

"You think they're okay?"
"I'm sure they're fine. Rarity has Aaron and Rainbow Dash has Siris."
"Yeah. But Aaron has been gone for a while. I hope he's alright. This place is a bit... scary."
Fluttershy stared into the fire, worrying for the safety of her new friend.

All the while, Aaron and Rarity were talking as they searched for the last of the supplies in the room. Rarity looked back to Aaron to ask another set of questions.

"So. Do you... by chance... have a special somepony back home?"

"A what?"

Aaron continued to look through various boxes.

"Somepony special. A uh... love interest."
"Oh. No, never really got a chance to. I preferred to keep to myself."
"Why? You're very charming and I could see the ladies flocking to join your herd."
"A wha- never mind. Sorry to disappoint, Rarity. But that's how things worked out for me. I guess its time to head back."

Getting up, Aaron and Rarity began to head back to the camp. Rarity lighting the way and Aaron carrying the small stack of medical supplies.

Yells could be heard from outside, Rainbow and Siris had came back to the camp site a while ago. Sirius told everyone to sit low and keep their heads down, he peeked out the door, it was a stallion, being chased by some skeleton pony's, poor guy looked like he had a broken leg, he was running for something, Rex looked into the direction of where the stallion was running, a mare a little filly, he had a family. The skeletons were gaining speed and now we're right in top do the stallion. The Skeleton knocked him on his back and were beating hum in front of his family, the foal started to cry, to others came from behind the other skeletons, they pointed small arms at the mare and her foal. 'Public execution' Rex thought to himself, he couldn't bare to see it anymore, he drew his sword and a pistol. He had only three shots left, "Stay here" Rex said to the crying pony's at the camp site. He ran toward the skeletons rage boiling in his body. He took two shots at the guards head but only managed to bring the attention to Rex, Rex put away his pistol and prepared for hand to hand.

Fluttershy and Pinkie watched as Siris walked towards his foes. Brandishing his blade to do battle. The group watched in tears as he was about to do battle. Fluttershy brought her hooves to her face in worry. Pinkie was on the edge of her metaphorical seat with anticipation. All were watching as Siris was about to do battle with the undead ponies. All the while Aaron and Rarity walked down the halls of the hospital.

"Um. Aaron. I think were lost."
"Yeah. I'm starting to think the same."
The two kept walking in the same direction. Awaiting to see their friends once more. Aaron was getting suspicious something was wrong. He placed the supplies down and continued to walk.

"Aaron. You forgot something."
"No I didn't."
"But you just left the supplies behind us."
"No I didn't. Look."

Aaron pointed to the same supplies lying before them. Somehow they were walking in circles in a straight line. Rarity looked terrified. The thought of dying in this hospital, even before her journey could begin. She let out a scream but nopony else will hear her. She began to run off into the halls. And as Aaron predicted, she came back to her previous spot. She did so again and again and again. FInally she broke down and balled her eyes out. Seeing that there wasn't any thoughts on how to get out of this one, Aaron sat next to her. Trying to ease her fears.

Red took a few swings at the skeletons who were beating up the defenseless stallion who was trying to protect his family, two slashes seemed to cut the skeleton in two but the others wee able to dodge them and punched Rex so hard it sent him flying into a nearby tree, the others saw that Rex was in trouble, Rainbow Dash grabbed a shotgun and races out to help Rex,

Right before one was going to stab Rex Rainbow pumped a slug right into the skeletons face sending him flying through his comrades,

"Thanks" Rex admitted, Rainbow nodded and prepared to engage the enemies once more.

Pinkie and Fluttershy watched as Rainbow joined the frey. They wanted to join in as well, but they were no warriors. They watched as the two fought side by side. After a few seconds, the undead were defeated. The Twilight and Applejack went over to congratulate the two on their victory. Fluttershy and Pinkie Pie went over to make sure that the family was okay.

"He's fine. He'll get the help he needs when we get to Ponyville."
Fluttershy looked depressed.

"I wouldn't bother. The town has been all but destroyed."
Now the mother was saddened.

"That was our last hope. Where are you all heading?

"We were planning on going to Hollow Shades. It should be safe there from what we hear."
"That's what we heard about ponyville. But, I hope you have luck on your journey."
The mother helped her husband up and walked with her husband.

 

Aaron and Rarity on the other hand could be better. Still crying, Rarity was letting her current situation sink in. Aaron wanted to help cal her down.

"Hey Rarity. Do you know what I'm afraid of?"

She looked up to him.

"I'm terrified of spiders. I crumble before even the tiniest arachnid."
Rarity gave a sniffle.

"N-Nonsense. I've seen you fight off changelings as if they were playthings to you."
"Well I am. I can't stand spiders. What are you afraid of?"
Rarity placed her sadness aside for a bit, but a tear did fall every now and then.

"I-I'm afraid of dying."
"That's not exactly fair. Everyone is afraid of dying."
"I meant alone. I lived in a boutique for years. I'm 22 years old, and I've only known my friends. Never really going out to meet that prince charming. I did that once and he was... lets just say he was uncouth to the very definition."

Aaron gave a chuckle. Rarity drew close.

"Well, you wont have to die alone. We're in this situation together."

Rex tried to move his shoulder with ease, but it hurt so much.

(Rainbow Dash)"You alright Siris?"

"Think my shoulder is dislocated" Rex tried to shake it off but the pain was unbearable, "Where is Aaron and Rarity"

They all looked around the campfire and shrugged, "That's just great... this place isn't even that big" Rex sighed

Rarity and Aaron conversed continuously. Ignoring the elephant in the room.

"So you electrified yourself... for fun?"

"In my defense... I do and teach myself weird things when I'm bored. How do you think I got so good at the staff. Look how useful that was."

"Alright I'll give you that one."

Rarity gave a sigh. The events slowly creeping back into her mind. She was going to die hear, might as well take a shot at it.

"A-Aaron. I have... a proposition for you."

"Yeah?"

"You know I have a fear of dying alone and I don't see us getting out of this situation anytime soon."

"Yeah?"

"Well, I was just wondering if... i-if we could pretend for a while that, you and I were..."
She trailed off a bit curling around his arm. But then something happened. Before the two was a door. A door that wasn't there before.

"Has that always been there?"
Aaron looked to the direction she was pointing at. The door on the opposite wall. Getting up Aaron opened the door and found that it lead to the outside. Picking up the medical supplies, they both found that they were on the outside of the hospital on the opposite side. They both began to walk back. Aaron turned back to see the door close, revealing a tool shed as what they exited.

"Aaron, can we forget about all the things that happened in there."

"Forget what."
They both gave a smirk.

Rex sat down, "Your going to have to pull it"

(Rainbow Dash)"Wha!.... What does that mean!?"

"It means you gotta pull the bone so it relocates itself!"

(Rainbow Dash)"I'm. Not sure I can"

"Come in Dash, I've seen you shoot a skeleton in the face with a shotgun, this should be easy, just grab it and pull it till you hear it snap"

Rainbow Dash took in a deep breathe and grabbed Rex's arm, she nodded and pulled it until it snapped into place.

Rex bit his lower lip, "See? Wasn't so bad" Rex held his shoulder in agony, "Despite the recent events today, you should all get some sleep, I'll watch the door for a while."

(Applejack)"Nu uh, you ain't, you been t'akin to much of a burden 'pon yourself, I'll take watch tonight"

Rex tried to argue, but this stubborn pony just wouldn't budge, he sat down and closed, he hadn't slept since he got here witch want very long, Rex didn't even feel that tired, either way he fell asleep fast while wondering if Aaron and Rarity were coming back anytime soon.

Aaron and Rarity walked up to the door. They saw Applejack and Siris keeping watch and passed them with a small nod. Rarity rushed over to the fire to warm herself. Aaron sat the supplies with the food they collected and went to join his new friends.

"So, what happened to you guys."
"I don't want to talk about it. Lets just say, I want to start repressing the events that happened in the last few hours."

Pinkie and Fluttershy looked to her in confusion.

"You were only gone for a few minutes. What happened to you guys."

Rarity and Aaron looked to each other, faces soaked in fear.

"We don't want to talk about it. I'm going to bed Good night guys."
They said the same to Aaron. The girls began to converse.

"So what really happened."

Rarity leaned in close to her friends.

"Well, lets just say, I won't be forgetting it. But it did let me get closer to one of our new warriors."
"You mean Siris?"

Rarity deadpanned.

Rex slept calmly through the night without interruption, he hoped nothing had happened while he was asleep. He got up bright and early to hear the sounds of rain drops pelting against the roof in rhythm. Rex decided to check the supplies while he was awake, Aaron did pretty good for himself, lots of medical supplies along with some antibiotics. Rex walked outside the hospital into the pouring rain. It felt good on his skin, he stood there for however long until he heard the door open behind him.

"You should be asleep" Rex said as the blue Pegasus stepped outside.

(Rainbow Dash)"Can't sleep while it's raining" She added "We don't get rain often anymore, so I always like to come out here and see how it used to be"

Rex stared at her for a second, then turned back to look at the sky, it was dark with only a few clouds, this place was strange, Rex thought to himself.
