First attempt at styling manes.

Tonight I finally got myself to style the manes and tails on one of my Fluttershy brushables as well as my Rarity brushable. Fluttershy's took a little bit more work than Flutter's did. They were rather labour intensive. But worth it. Curling Rarity's mane took a few attempts as it kept slipping out from under the straw/bobby pin.

 

This is my first attempt at styling a pony. I followed a couple tutorials I found on Deviant Art. As I wanted show accurate manes and tails.

I forgot to take a before picture of Rarity...but believe me...she looked just as frazzled as Fluttershy.....I'll post after pics once their "perms'' have dried....they're sitting under my bedside lamp that I turned into a temp heat lamp.

 

Key thing is having a wet mane to work with...makes things so much easier. If I could've I would've kept Rarity's "Wet mane" look.

Rarity didn't turn out quite like how I wanted, but she's still better than she was.

That Rarity tutorial might come in handy one day

I generally wrap her (pre-wet in scalding hot water) tail and mane around her opposite back leg and her oppo-front leg, ear, and horn, respectively; however, this is far more accurate than what I produced

Huh. Might have to try this out tomorrow, since I still got the flu bug going and will have time to kill

I wish my rarity came out looking that good. Tried that same way, but for the life of me she just won't cooperate. Wonder if it's because my AJ turned out perfect, and I made her the required accessory she doesn't come with for some stupid reason.

Hey thanks! And I say go for it! No harm in trying. Can always re-wet and try again.If you dry by a heat lamp/light bulb...don't put her too close or you might melt her. I had them roughly 6'' away from my heat source and they barely got warm after an hour and a little bit.

I have a Trixie and a Lyra to do next....I think I'm going to follow the Rainbow Dash  tutorial for Lyra.....but for Trixie...I have no idea. As I haven't been able to find a tutorial for either of them.

Agreed. I have a Trixie and DJ Pon3 sitting here with straight out of package hair. Have been wanting to style theirs for quite awhile, but I just can't figure out how to go about it and make it look correct. You figure Trixie out, be sure to let us know.

Figure Trixie out eh? She's a great and powerful mare. Who knows what she'll do if I style her mane wrong.

I tried styling their manes as well, dunno how I didn't need to do the whole thing with Fluttershy.

I had a lot of fun styling Pinkie but I think I might have to remake it soon, It got a bit loose :<

It was tricky getting their hair to co-operate, even with it being wet.looping it through the hair bands and bobbypins was annoying....Rarity especially.

This is the best I could manage with Rainbow Dashes mane. Turned out a bit Ace Ventura, but better than right outta the package.

They look great! I think this gave me the courage to try styling my Rarity and Fluttershy. I'm too scared to give any haircuts just yet.
