Feedback on animation concept art?

Hello all!

 

I am working on a flash animation that uses custom made MLP Flash puppets I designed that are made to look like the actual characters from the show! (think of the JanAnimations or Double Rainboom fanimations) 

 

However, at one point in the cartoon, there is a scene where the characters transform into semi-realistic versions of themselves, drawn in a style that I can't quite get down. I'm definitely going for a fantasy feel here, however, this is COMPLETELY of my league, as I usually draw in a Saturday morning cartoon style, therefore, a lot of references were used. HOWEVER, my pony passion pulled me through, and came up with a few pics that I felt were pretty decent. I Here are some concept drawings that I did. Not too shabby for semi-realism! The biggest problem I see in your concept art, is the Rainbow Dash picture. Her fore-leg has one too many joints in it >-< It's bending incorrectly. Or, it at least looks like that O:

 

Also, depending on the breed of horse you want them to be depicted as, then their face shapes are going to be different C: However, if you're going for a more generic horse look, I can give you some pointers.

 

Basically, a horse face angles downwards instead of sticking straight out at eye level like a dog face would. Their heads are kind of like a tapered rectangle, I guess XD
