Yea, they have featured the return of Chrysalis, Nightmare Rarity, pirate ponies, plenty of awesome Luna stuff, and much more. Not to mention several mini series that don't take place in the main story of the comics. I've never read any of them, I just know this stuff from browsing. If I had the money I'd own them all, but by the time I get enough I'll have to settle for e-book versions.
