Iris smiled at her new found... friend...possibly mate(?). "I just need to send in a few papers to the royal office of diplomatics. After that, I just need to say my partings to Dash and then I'm ready to go." Iris announced, giving Traveller a hug with her wing. After doing so, she walked to her study and pulled out some papers. She began to look through them, finding the one that would notify the royals of her departure. After sighing it with the necessary info, she placed it into the burning candle, the smoke swirling away to Canterlot.

Traveller looked out the window to Ponyville. She seemed so upbeat, but he was just...depressed. He sighed and began to check his stuff. Some bits, some food, his book, and a map. He should probably go get a package to deliver. They could use the bits. Eh, he's do it later. He put the bag on and turned to Iris'.

 

'Well, when you're ready to say goodbye just tell me and we'll go do it.'

As Iris watched the last wisps fly away, she turned to her room to meet Traveller. "Well, any time you are ready, I am good to go. I can pick up any bit's we need at the nearest bank, and I usually go hunting when I'm on the move. Other than that, I just need to say my partings to Dash." She said in an upbeat tone. This was the first time she was going out in the world with another being since the pack incident. She then noticed that Traveller was still down. "Is anything the matter?" She asked him.

Traveller shook his head.

 

'No, no...' He mumbled as he stared at his bag. He looked up and smiled weakly.

 

'We should get going to Dash's house.' He said as he brushed past her and to the door. He opened it up and felt the fresh air. Maybe it wouldn't be all that bad. Maybe this could help. How, he wasn't sure. But maybe...

Iris walked into her closet and picked up a small duffle bag containing her traveling gear she used for diplomatic juries. It contained a bag of bits, a knife, a copy of the Wolven Code, three day's rations, her diplomat papers, and a picture of her and Dash.

 

She then walked out to where the stallion was outside the house. She opened her wings and took for the sky. "Meet you at Rainbow's" she taunted as she flew off towards her friends house.

Traveller smirked and took to the air. For once he felt the sadness go away, if only for a second. Iris was in front of him. He had never been a great flyer, so he assumed it would stay that way. He caught up to her, only occasionally lagging behind. He enjoyed flying, even if he wasn't amazing.

 

-10 minutes later-

 

Traveller landed next to Iris. She had beat him, if only by some. He knocked on Rainbow Dash's door and let Iris step in front of him.

Iris waited for a greeting after Traveller knocked on the door. After a few seconds, it opened to reveal the rainbow maned mare from a roughly an hour ago.

 

"What's up guys?" She asked, seeing the chipper mood of both flyers.

 

"Well," Iris began. "A diplomatic conference is coming up and I wanted to get a head start with the flight. Also, I though that the time could also be spent trying to get to know Traveller here."

 

"Wait.... are you two getting married?" Dash asked with a cheeky smile towards the stallion, expecting him to answer.

Traveller took a step back.

 

'No...' He replied. 'We're traveling together but I know for a fact we aren't getting married. Unless of course I wasn't informed.' He added sarcastically. His usually light hearted and calm manner was giving way to his more stressed attitude. They were traveling together, nothing more. For now.

"Dash!" Iris scolded, giving her a light punch on the shoulder. 

 

"Hey, can't blame a mare for asking." She said with a bit of a laugh. "Well, Bliss, it's been a heck of a time. Hope you two have fun on whatever this trip is. Good buy Iris." Rainbow said, givving her friend a soft hug.

 

"Good buy Dash." the wolf said. As Iris turned to leave, Dash called out and asked.

 

"This might not be the time... but what exactly are pregnant with? A wolf or a pony?"

Traveller looked to Iris with a sideways glance. She had said pup earlier, though that could be for lack of a better term.

 

'Uh...what would it be? It would be a pup, right?' He whispered quietly. 'Dont even ask me, I have no idea. I'm not a wolf here.' He added before looking back to Dash.

Iris stopped mid-stride, her mouth hung open. The thought never came to her that what might be in her... was not a little pup. To Iris, that more brought up curiosity than anything, however there was a slight seance of fear. She turned to the others.

 

"So, what?" Dash asked, not getting the emotional impact. "Is it a wolf? Pony? Wolf-pony hybrid? At least it will have wings, considering that you both have them."

Traveller looked between the three and shrugged. 'I dunno. Wolf...pony...hybrid...maybe...?' He said, confused as to what it would be. 'Yeah, it'll probably have wings...' He turned back to Iris 'Any idea? Whatsoever? This can't be the only time this has happened...' He mused, knowing surely it had to have happened before.

"Well..." Iris said with a sheepish smile.

 

"Oh come on." Dash said, hovering in the air as she crossed her arms in disbelief. 

 

"See... The only wolves know to live are ether beyond the Northern mountains, like my old pack, or the Wolven Empire, like Seth." She began. "Seeing how I was foolish enough to cross the mountains in an attempt to escape my pack and being the first known wolf to do so, that takes a big hit on 'No'. Seth mentioned to me that he is the first from the empire in over a thousand years to arrive here. To add on to the anomalies here, I am a beta wolf. In wolven couture, I usually have a 40% chance to even get a mate back home. So, my fertile abilities would be lessened just from dna, giving you a higher chance of a pony. To top it all off, I am the only winged wolf goddess." Iris finished in on breath. She began to pant as she regained her breathe. After a second, started up again. "So, unless your friend Fluttershy got lucky with a timberwolf and didn't tell us, I am the first wolf to get impregnated by a pony."

 

After the speech, Dash glared at the wolf. "Are you saying that my Fluttershy cheated on me with a pile of sticks?" She said, slowly approaching Iris.

 

"Wait, you and Fluttershy?" Iris repeated.

Traveller looked between the group and sighed. So that was a no. She was the first. He changed his focus to an aggravated Rainbow Dash. 'Wait, you and Fluttershy?' He repeated like Iris, surprised. He had never talked to the yellow Pegasus, though he had see her while going through.

"This isn't about me!" Dash said, sounding defensive. "This is about Iris saying Fluttershy is strutting her stuff with a piece of wood."

 

"One: I was just giving a loose example. I meant nothing by it, Dash." Iris said. "Two... exactly how are we supposed to find out about..." He gestured to her midsection. "Should we just wait and find out, or..." She looked to Traveller for advice.

Traveller looked between the two before sighing. 'If we come across somewhere we can, we'll check. If not, we'll just have to wait and see.' He said with a shrug. He looked around then back at Iris.

 

'We should start moving. If we move now we could be pretty far by sunset.'

Iris gave Traveller a slight smile as she turned back to Dash.

"Well, see ya Dash. If I find out anything, you will be the first to know."

 

"I better be." Dash said with a smirk. "You two play nice now."

 

"Sure thing Dash" Iris called, giving her friend one final hug.

 

"Good-buy Iris." Rainbow said, dripping the wolf in a tight hug.

 

As they parted their grip, Iris turned to Traveller and said, "Ready, flyboy?"
