There were those who thought that Celestia and Luna would live forever. It was not a terrible assumption. They'd lasted a thousand plus years, and showed no signs of wear and tear! They were the most powerful alicorns to ever grace the lands. There was no indication to most that they were not immortal. The closest they'd ever come to losing their glorious leaders was when the Changelings attacked Canterlot. She'd been attacked, overwhelmed even, but she was back on her hooves by the end of the day. No need for alarm. Was but a scratch.

So they thought.

Queen Chrysalis had planned for the eventuality that she could be beaten. A million things could have gone wrong with her plan and, of course, they did. So, the spell that she had released would seem to do little: daze the Princess, put her out of commission, but all and all she would live.

For a time.

The spell caused a horrible cancer to grow through her body. It was painless, a completely unnoticeable killer. The first sign of any danger came from a cough. By the time the Princess was coughing up blood, the cancerous disease had spread to her heart. There was nothing that could be done. The Princess' heart failed, and most thought it was the greatest tragedy of the age... that nothing could out do it...

They were wrong... with The Princess' sudden absance, and without unicorns who were trained and prepared to take over her role like ponies had before Celestia's rule, the sun exploded. Burning, massive chunks flew towards the planet Equestria resided on...

It was more than the end of a great ruler. It was the end of an age.

Seth Eclipse was at the bedside of the solar goddess when she passed away. He had been invited ny her to assist Luna in these troubling times, as they were old friends. He was watching the lifeless body as he held a morning goddess in his paws. The wolf felt much sim pithy for the sister's loss, as well as his own grievances for Celestia.

When Luna fell into a deep sleep at her sister's bedside, Seth walked out to the balcony looking up at the sun. Ever since her death, the celestial body had stopped dead in the sky. He closed his eyes, giving a prayer to the Wolven god.

Then, there was a bang.

Seth's eyes jerked open to see the sun, once pure, split apart as it exploded access the daylight sky. As the major pieces began to separate, Seth whispered to himself, "Mother of Celestia..."

Nassir walked stoically beside the leader of his tribe. They were a tribe of warriors, had been for generations, and he was no different. His father was a rather distinguished warrior and had taught him to be the same. Efficient, deadly, and above all, to follow all of his tribes ancient traditions and customs, lest the stars curse him and the tribe, destroying all. The stars were evil, malevolent creatures, watching all of the planet, curseing those who were touched by thier fallen brethren, whispering thier bidding into thier ears and destroying all on the process. If one truly angered the stars, they would personally fall upon the transgressors, crushing them with might blows as the Zebra's had experianced long ago.

Nassir was in Equestria, transporting the high-healer of the tribe, walking from the train to the castle. The tribe leader had hopped to gain diplomatic ties with the princess, by having his healer attempt to use a complex brew that only ingredients from the homelands could make. He was to make sure that it, and the healer, were safely delivered to the Princess of the Sun.

He was not comfortable with this... he was a warrior, not a baby-sitter. He felt shaky every moment he was away from his jungle home land, not risking life and limb to protect his home from the dangerous beast that resided in the forest thier village rested in... what if they were consumed by all manner of beast while he was away? What if his village simply dissapeared, destroyed by the cruel stars?

The strange land in and of itself as odd enough to put him on edge... all these large cities, so many ponies hanging around in one giant village... the same way the Zebra's of old had! And for thier hubris, the stars rained death upon them! Did these ponies not realize the danger!? He needed to be out of here as soon as possible...

There was a sudden bang, and Nassir instantly stiffened, tackleing the healer to the ground so as to protect them from... whatever had made that noise... he unlashed his spear from his back, gripping it in his teeth as he looked about for the danger... only to hear screams, and seeing ponies staring at the sky...

He looked up... slowly dots appeared in his vision, slowly growing larger as they approached, covering the sky...

The stars were attacking yet again!

(I hope ive done justice to the vision youve had for this idea.)

@@TheLineTrotter,

Seth watched in horror as the light of the sun fluctuated as it broke apart. Finally, as the pieces approached the earth, Seth began to react. He slowly walked back inside the tower and ran to Luna's side. She was looking to the sky, woken up by the blast.

"Luna... We have to go." He said to the princess. When she didn't respond, Seth took the her by the shoulder. "Luna..."

She looked at the wolf with tear-filled eye. "...Yes... I know."

Seth lead the princess down the halls of the castle. The only thing that postpone the the two was an unexpected bump around a corner. Seth went dead over tail after tripping over the two zebras.

"What the hell do you think you are doing? We got to get out of here!" Seth yelled, standing up. Luna came to the corner, not tripping over the two.

"Yes, we must leave immediately!"

(You are more than good. I'm just hoping I'm good enough for you.)

Fire and death rained from the sky, and for all his bravery, Nassir was practically frozen in fear atop the healer. And none from his tribe would blame him. The stars...the stars were attacking! Every legend, every tradition, every piece of his culture centered around stopping this catastrophe! Every action of a Zebra's life was dictated by avoiding this very outcome! The stars werent just attacking this city of hubris, it was filling the whole sky it seemed, certainty hitting all around... the stars were even more angered than they were at the Zebras millennia ago.

Nassir let out a groan as he was suddenly tripped upon, gripping his spear a moment at the presumed attacker, before the wolf stared shouting. Nassir said in a tone of utter hopelessness, and as though it was pure fact, "There is no where to run. The stars have begun thier assault upon us all. They shall lay waste to us, just as they have in the past..." he said, suddenly seeing the Princess of the Night round the corner, growing wide eyed. The healer, upon seeing the Princess, froze in fear, crying out "N-nightmare Moon!" before suddenly fleeing. Nassir didnt care.He was the one carrying the potion for Celestia, and and with such a threat before him, the healer was no longer prority. "Star Maiden..." he said, glaring at what was, to Zebra's, the epitome of evil. They believed that any person (pony, Zebra, Griffion, it did not matter) who convened with the Stars, gained their favor or assistance, were cursed, bringing doom and destruction all around. The stars had aided in Nightmare Moon's escape,  and, as the Princess of the Night, she had a connection with them that made her pure evil as far as Zebra's were concerned. If the stars had not been attacking, he would have been obligated to throw himself at the Princess with full intent to kill, due to his oaths to his tribe and people. She must have caused this! The star maiden had brought the stars to full bear to attack!

(You're doing great! As you may notice, Nassir doesnt speak in rhyme, mostly out of convinence though there is a story reason. If you havnt noticed, Nassir doesnt realized the sun is what has exploded (although, technically a star), simply because what is happenening basically matches the mental image he has for the orgininal attack.)

Seeing that the zebra was neglecting the eventual bombardment of the solar debris, he continued to do what he was ordered to do: take care of the princess, at all cost.

"Princess, I must ask you to go to the chariot pad. My Osprey is waiting for you with a pilot team. They are expecting you." He ordered the princess. He then turned towards the zebra, allowing himself to be between Luna and the armed equine (if zebras are equines). Luna ran past the two towards the exit.

Seeing how Luna was gone, he looked at the zebra. "Look, I don't know if you have noticed, but we are basically facing the biggest crisis since the Discord war!" Seth said, gesturing to the skylight roofing. "Due to the death of... Princess Celestia... the sun has broken from it's reaction cycle and has destabilized. It just hit micro-nova and is about to bombard the planet." Seth explained. "I don't know why you are here, nor do I care. However, if you want a chance of survival, then I have a VTOL waiting for us."

He looked at the zebra, hoping he would make up his mind, quick.

(Just to say, the Wolven Empire are technologically advanced, but have no clue about magic. They didn't even know the princesses moved the sun and moon.)

Nassir watched as the Princess was told to head somehwere, presumebly some sort of safe place... although no where could hide one from the stars full wrath... when he heard of Celestia's demise, he felt slightly crestfallen. Not so much as a pony likely would, but it was dissapointing. Even with the catastrophe, he had planned to rush to the castle to deliver the potion, if only to complete his mission. But if she had passed, no brew could bring her back. She spoke of the sun being the cause, but in the Zebra's mind, that wasnt likely. The stars were raining themselves down upon them, as they had before! Although, he supposed it was not impossible that the stars had found a way to destroy the sun with it's guardian deceased.

At being spoken of being taken somewhere to survive, Nassir considered it breifly. Although he had no idea what a VTOL was, he  was willing to give the wolf the benefit of the doubt on that. There were many things he didnt know about the world outside of the Zebra homelands, after all. He looked at the sky, at the falling stars... and turned to the wolf, simply nodding, strapping his spear back to his back. This was not a battle to be fought, and it would only slow him down with it out.

Seth accepted the nod as a confirmation. Without a word, the ex-military wolf darted down the hallway towards the privet section of the castle where the osprey was waiting. He arrived at the doors to the outside and bashed his body to open them. What met him on the other side was one of nightmares. The sky had turned a sickly orange-red as the first pieces of sun began to bombard the nation. He stood there, mouth open as the end of the world commenced.

"Sir!" a wolf yelled from a short distance, retrieving Seth from the shock of what was happening. He looked to see the pilot wolf standing at the door to the osprey. Seth ran over to him. "We need to get in the air, sir. The princess is secured in the second osprey. They have departed for the Empire already. We are just waiting for you."

Seth nodded and boarded the VTOL and began to strap into the passenger seat in the main hold. The pilot boarded the plain and began his pre-flight checks. Seth yelled to him over the notice of both the bird and the ambient apocalypse. "We have one more we are taking with us. A zebra." He called. As he finished, he felt the the plain shift as an impact hit close to the castle.

When the wolf took off, Nassir instantly trotted behind him. He had no idea when the stars were hit, but they were approaching rapidly... this city, and the whole of the country or perhaps the whole planet, would be layed to waste soon. As they dashed through the castle, Nassir allowed himself to wonder which room had been the Princess of the Sun's...  not that it mattered. The who castle would be layed to waste soon, he imagined.A little sad, but perhaps the Pony's deserved this for their hubris, just as the Zebras had. He saw outside of windows as the first shards of the stars rained down on the planet, the sky already orange-red that made him feel ill simply looking at it. It was probrably his imagination, but he felt like he could hear the screams of the dieing ponies. Perhaps the stars would not be as... 'forgiving' this time...perhaps this time they intended to truly destroy the world.

He found himself being lead aboard the ship, getting a few odd looks but with the end of the world, nopony had time to pass judgement. It occoured to Nassir that they would be flying, and felt a knot in his stomech. Flying made him uncomfortable... it made him feel sick when he flew to Equestria, and it was no better now. But his options were limited, and chose not to allow his uncomfortableness show. He felt the whole vessel rock, nearly losing his balance. He knew nothing of the ships controls, merely attempting to remain out of the crews way.

As the zebra was strapped into the adjacent passenger seat from him, Seth could feel the mothers to the VTOL beginning to turn up. He glanced out the window, instantly regretting doing so. He watched as falling infernos scorch and scar the equine homeland. He even saw the rock that Impacted Ponyville. When the strike hit, he could feel the rumble through his entire system. He clenched his eyes shut, feeling the pain of every pony lost. His only friends died with that crash. Their deaths were meaningless.

As the two engined plane lifted vertically off the ground, the wolf remained silent. He was forced to hear every crash, the land giving wary to the massive rock and energy. The routers faced forward as the plane began to fly away from the devastation. He took one final glance back at the capital, just in time to see a massive piece of white hot mass hit strait into the castle. When the blast wave hit the Osprey, Seth clung to the harness as the plain tried to stay in the air. They began to plummet towards the ground. Seth yelled up to the pilot, "get this bird into the air!" At what felt like the last second, the plane jerked up, gaining altitude once again.

Seth turned to the zebra, the wolf's face one of pure morning. "Where do you need to go?" He asked. Sadness in his voice.

Nassir took the seat, strapping himself in. With the rocking and the shakes, he would have been thrown all around the vessel without it, likely breaking his neck. His gaze followed the wolf's, seeing the 'stars' impact on the Earth. He saw a small town who's name he did not know get obliterated in an instant. The world was just a small bit emptier in that instant. "And when the stars return, they shall bear no warning..." he muttered, clearly reciting something "... they shall drop all airs of mercy, and all shall be crushed..." he was silent after that, for a very long time. He saw the look of pain on the Wolf's face, and wondered briefly if he should say something, but he knew no matter what was said it would not do anything in such troubleing times.

When the ship threatened to crash, Nassir gave a gasp, and instantly began to mutter what sounded like a prayer in a language that the wolf was highly unlikely to understand. Closing his eyes and placing his forehooves together, speaking rapidly yet calmly despite the chaos.  When the ship barely managed to stay in the air, his eyes slowly oppened and his hooves returned to his side. At the wolf's question, he paused for a long moment. "I do not know. My duty says I must return to my Leader... but undoubtably, the stars are attacking all around... he would know..." It may have been a cruel thought, but part of him hoped it was the ponies that were the only ones who were attacked, that perhaps this was meant for them specfically... "And if... you are correct about the sun... than we are all dead, even if we survive this. The plants will die, and we shall all starve. The griffion's will last abit longer, eating meat of those of us who pass, but soon that will run out... and this shall be a dead planet... the stars will have won..."

Seth didnt have a clue on what the zebra was saying. It seemed in his mind that the 'stars' were sentient. He didn't ponder the thought long as his mind shifted to more... unpleasant thoughts. If the zebra's prediction was true, then the empire might be having the same effect. The anti-air guns scattered about the country would handle light aircraft attacks, but nothing on this scale. This could mean the end of the wolven race. After all they have been through, it was the sun that killed off the hunters. 'No...I cant think of things like that until there is proof...' Seth mentally demanded of himself. He had to stay strong, for both himself, his nation, and potentially... Luna.

"If you want, I'm headed back to the Wolven Empire. If I can get a flight out, I might be able to get you to your homeland." Seth suggested.
