"Mutt...better behave and listen to your master" She said before stopping. "You murdered griffons...I was supposed to check on them soon...guess I won't have to now" She smiled.  "You remind me of someone...that I once knew" She said before she passed by him. "Keep him well...if he can kill a griffon...then he could be useful" he said

Seth looked to the dragon as she walked away. Deep inside him, he felt pained that the dragon merely walked away. He didn't know why, but he felt a connection to her.

 

From a table, his master whistled for him. Seth's mind cleared as he ran to his master's hoof. 

 

"Good Mutt." the guard said, tossing down a small portion of meat. "You will do well as my pet. Speaking of which, during a poker match last night, I was short on bits and bet you as a loaner pet. That cheating stick-head had a royal flush. So, you are under his command for a week. He mentioned he was stopping by the mess hall to collect his prize, wonder when he'll get here?"

 

Seth felt his spirits drop slightly. He was now considered property.

 

(I assume your master was good at poker. Hint hint?)

The guard from before entered the cafeteria. "I though I would come to get you my self" The guard said to Saphira. "That and look who it is my pet for a day" The guard said as Saphira waited and he went up to the wolf. "Sorry that your master lost you for a week mutt but he should learn to play cards better" He said

Seth looked from the new guard to his master.

 

"Listen Mutt, you do exactly what he says. If you disobey him, he is allowed to do anything he wants. That was the deal." His master instructs. He then looks to his partner and the dragon. "You take some care of him, it was hell to break this bitch into place." He said, hooking up the leash. "I still don't see why you have this one on paroles for you. She is a female after all, I thought you would have... other ideas in mind."

 

He gives a slight laugh before handing the leash over. "He's all yours."

"Miss show him what happens when you threaten or misjudge me" The guard said before the dragoness put a claw to the other guards throat. "Now all I just need to do is tell her to kill you and then I would have two pets....don't judge me or her, she has kept many prisoners scared" The guard said before commanding Saphira to let him go. She did so and was commanded to grab the wolf and follow him.

Seth felt the collar yank at his neck. Apparently, the dragon had it easy compared to him. He was now lower than a dragon pet. This was a really depressing day. He obediently fallowed, not letting his mind obscure his obedience. He looked up to the dragoness, still slightly unsure as to if she looked familiar.

The guard smirked. "Dragoness and wolf, both of you are going to work together for a while...Wolf you will follow and listen to what she says alright" The guard said as it looked like he had a plan for the both of them.

Seth didn't look to his new mistress. He only felt lower. He was a pet to a dragon pet. Wow. He did obey as he stood at the heels of the dragoness. "By your command." He said to the guard as he knew he was expected to respond. He didn't like where this was going.

The dragoness looked at the wolf. "Come on we have work to do, if you see any prisoners misbehaving you do whatever you can to make them behave...even make them bleed if you have to" She said before she started limping for some reason. "Great...I forgot to take the damn medicine to get rid of the pain" She said to himself

Seth nodded to his superior. "Yes, mistress." He siad as he fallowed at her heal. As her steps begane to be noticeably off, he looked the the limping leg. There was scarring on it. It seamed recent. Seeing that he was off the task at hand, he returned to his role of looking for truble. As the walked the first floor of the gen pop, Seth noticed that the floor was scilent. He wondered if it was him or his mistres that was the cause of it. As they neared the exit of the first of menu cell blocks, two guards apprched them as they were on patrol.

 

"So, now he dragon takes the wolf as a pet. How much did you have to pay to get that scrawny thing?" One joked. The other reminded scilent, obviously aware of both's stature here. "I bet you had to pull a few extra favors with his owner to even get your claws on him" he first continued.

"I was given him by master for a week because he won him during a game of poker and the wolf put him up as a bet" She answered. "Is there a problem" SHe asked. "Also, I don't think my master would want to hear you say that" She said before passing by the guards. "Come on wolf" She called out

"We are going to die." The second said as he pulls his companion out of he two's way. Seth fallowed his mistress as instructed, winder exactly what his job was. He was to maintain obedience, but that was rather easy with their reputation. Seth felt there was more here than he knew.

"They should be outside excercising at the moment....they are not scared of a wolf and a dragon so these ones are different" she said as she was outside watching the prisoners. "The wolf seems so familiar..." She said toher self as she saw one of the prisoners just stnading there. "HEY GET MOVING" She yelled

Seth looked to the dragoness. There was something about her... something he knew. However, at ever attempt at remembering it, he felt immense pain through his core. 'There had to be more to this' he thought. He sat at attention at her side, waiting for the next command. Finally, he had to ask. "Permission to speak, mistress?" He asked. If this was his normal master, he would easily be denied and punished for speaking.

"Permission granted" She said. "This wolf...I should have punished him right then for talking but something is telling me not to do so" Saphira said to herself before looking at the wolf. "If you are wondering why I haven't punished you or anything it's because I am not allowed to unless told to do so by my master.

Mutt nodded. "Thank you. If I may be so bold in asking... what is your name?" He asked, looking up to his mistress. He could have asked anything, but he knew to play it safe. This might just be freedom trying to ruin his life here. But still... she looked so familiar.

"My name is...Sapphire" She lied. She was told to lie about her name when ever he was asked, the name that she was given was Sapphire. "That was the name master gave to me...I don't remember my real name but if I do I am never allowed to use it..." She said again knowing this was what she was supposed to say

Seth nodded and turned to the track. He was slightly disappointed as to not having any recollection of the name. There were prisoners running on the track, but one was glancing at a less guarded section of fencing. Seth nudged Sapphire and motioned in the direction, alerting her to the action.

"I see him" Saphira got up and walked over to the prisoner and grabbed him by the neck. "If you think about escaping I will burn you" She threatened the prisoner before letting the prisoner go and walking back over to Seth. "Now get back to running" She said to the prisoner

Seth watched the performance, almost enjoying seeing the prisoner shake in fear. As the dragoness returned, he wondered what his job was. He was under the command of a pet, so she didn't have much authority other than himself and the prisoners. It's odd that a dragon would submit to this level as to be a lackey to a guard as he was. He was a true pet, but she was more of just under equal to the guards.

 

Seth mulled over the thoughts as he sat at her side.

"All I am allowed to do is scare them...if I do anything else I lose privileges to have the little freedom I have" Saphira said as she kept watch on the prisoners and made sure none of them try to do anything. "It sucks...because a few try to hit on me and I just have to stand there and listen to it...instead of ripping their head off"

"The only moments I get at aggression are when my master lets me at prisoners he finds... unnecessary. From what I've been told, they build an inferiority ward in my name." Seth said, but instantly regretting it. He shouldn't have spoken. He held his head low in defense for the coming pain of his mistress.

"I'll let you slid this time but don't make the mistake again" Saphira said. "You may speak though, and you must be lucky in order to get a ward in your name...all I get is this and nothing fun ever happens" Saphira said as she was still ignoring the pain in her leg

Seth opened his eyes, looking to the dragoness. "...they send me in on prisoners that... are hard to kill. Not like physically hard, but emotionally scarring. I was forced... To kill a mare. She was with foal at the time..." He stopped talking, not wanting to recall the memories. He looked away from her, clamping his eyes shut. He remembered the pain that he endured till he attacked the mare.

"I'm... sorry to hear that...didn't think they would kill a made that had a child" Saphira said as she sat down. "When I disobeyed...I was severely injured in my right hind leg and my left fore leg, It hurts to walk on it but I just ignore the pain" Saphira said as she sighed
