It's a language based on the sounds made in the English language, some things like with all languages don't exist in the vocabulary for the language so a synonym is used, there is no word for language so speech is used in it's place. and some things you just have to find the closest sound to it. --speech-- a DAY a plural: Je --writing-- /\ a _ Je it's not yet complete, any suggestions? Page.Turner 940 March 17, 2014 Share March 17, 2014 I'm not so sure about your knowledge on linguistics, but I would definitely do some research on it. o3o You should have a grand understanding of language meaning, form, and context to make a believable as well as fluent language. One thing I find hard about your language is all the consonants side by side @___@ You're basing this off of sounds in the English language yet you're making a language that is more Polish. Also, you should try following more phonetics C: Like... you say words that make the "ah" sound yet you use "bat" as an example which makes more of an "ae" sound. Make a note to look up diphthongs, too Understanding that will help you understand sounds. 1 ...

Scootalove 10,689 March 17, 2014 Share March 17, 2014 You could do some research on how a language is formed, the sounds, the words, and what each word means besides the sound that the word makes if you are more fluent in the language. Other than that, understanding it will make you golden. Credit: Moony © Forum FAQ Forum Rules

Rift enchanted 380 March 17, 2014 Share March 17, 2014 Uhhhhhhhh try making it simpler and closer to English like Spanish. You can lead a horse to water but you can't make it save equistria with its five candy coloured friends and shoot rainbows at bad guys using their necklaces and tiara unless you're celestiaAlso if your not familiar with the count to one million post then check out our welcoming cheer!http://mlpforums.com/topic/69955-count-to-one-million/page-1188Just scroll to the bottom and it'll be there
mars 4,862 March 17, 2014 Share March 17, 2014 Uhhhhhhhh try making it simpler and closer to English like Spanish. ... Spanish is based off Latin, not English. I like it! I can't exactly understand the linguistics of making a new language, but I can appreciate people making a new language.
deadprofile 1,122 March 17, 2014 Share March 17, 2014 My husband has his own phonetic alphabet. He started his linguistical research in Middle School after he got fascinated with Tolkien. He calls it Nessic, and he's already has 3 different kinds. The one we use when leaving notes to each other is 3rd Nessic. It's not a code system (substituting symbols for letters) and was actually quite confusing for me to learn at first, because his symbols and grammar structures are not like other languages, specifically Latin derived ones (such as English) or Germanic ones.... Good luck to you, just don't be scared to be constantly refining it to make it more unique. I see you are borrowing elements of Runic for your symbolism and seem to be using some Western Slavic phonetics....Doing research is the best thing you could possibly do...It's hard to give advise when I am not sure where you desiring to go with your language (as far as making it comparable to existing languages)....I do recommend looking into Tolkien's works because he made several languages for his mythos, but then again he was a Philologist (he studied language).... Kelario 95 March 18, 2014 Share March 18, 2014 Sorry, but your idea isn't new. There are many languages (say, Klingon) that exist for no reason other than to exist. Maybe try to make words inflect instead of just using random words for random English equivalents. This is to say, create a suffix/prefix for verb tenses, use something for a plural (optional: dual) noun, and optionally add grammatical case (something English doesn't have but is interesting nonetheless).
