Many Kingdom Hearts fans see Eraqus as too "Knight Templar" against Darkness. But while he can be extreme (most notably when he tries to kill Ven (in order to kill Vanitas as well); however, given Birth By Sleep's ending, Eraqus succeeding would've probably been a mercy to everyone, including Ven himself), 99% of all Darkness cases ending badly doesn't exactly prove him wrong.
