TheMarkz0ne 962 April 9, 2014 Share April 9, 2014 (edited) I was watching Transformers Armada this week and I had in my mind recently, that Hasbro is doing an old marketing tactic they did with Transformers back in the 80s. It's common sense they want change to sell more toys, everyone knows that. But I feel that when we approach season 5, there is going to be this radical change for the franchise. Remember when they kill Optimus Prime all the time? Then they swap around the autobots and decepticons every now and then? I feel that maybe we might see less of the mane 6 and we're beginning to see more going on. It's a girls tv show, so instead of killing robots for boys like they did in Transformers. They're going to give the mane 6 a closure and younger characters such as CMC and side characters will get more screen time. It could be real. I am not sure, but what's your take? GaleFenrir 281 April 9, 2014 Share April 9, 2014 1. Why on earth would you be watching Armada? That era in TF history was dreadful, the only redemption being Starscream. But what ever, spend your time however you please, I guess. 2. I wouldn't be averse to them moving on from the Mane 6, but I doubt it. It's not like the merchandise sales for the Mane 6 are falling off, at least to my knowledge. 3. The Transformers line and MLP line just have different ways of going about there business. Transformers swap out characters on a regular basis, but with MLP, simply giving a pony a new outfit or accessory is enough to warrant a new release. Shanks 10,816 April 9, 2014 Share April 9, 2014 While I am not opposed to a switch in mane characters so long as it is done well and there is good reason for it I think it would be far too drastic and premature at this point and sincerely hope that Hasbro isn't planning something like this for season 5. Twilicorn was already premature and handled quite poorly in the season 3 finale and barely mentioned at all in season 4 except for the premier and most likely the finale. So making a fundamental change like that one minute and then just jumping to another two seconds later makes no sense and will make the plot feel even more rushed, incoherent and inconsistent than it already has become this season which is the last thing we need. I think we need at least another 2 seasons or so to give some to time to properly flesh twilicorn and a few other things out before any sort of mane character switch. I love Armada I was watching it before going on the school bus in the morning, I watch it now and the human animation is awful. I can still say the Transformers animation is still awesome. How can anyone love Beast Wars over Armada? I guess different taste.
StarSwirlTheBearded 356 April 9, 2014 Share April 9, 2014 Hasbro certainly realizes that they must maintain two demographics of fans (bronies and children) moving forward. They wouldn't completely abandon one group to cater to the other. That being said, they could do this if they do it in a way without upsetting either group.
