Cadence nuzzled Ariel right on the nuzzle. Snakie rested next to the two. The laptop didn't wake when Ariel poked it. Meanwhile Thunder was continuing to cook the pasta. "We're having pasta tonight." He announced as he continued to cook. "Ooh! Sounds delicious " Celestia said with a giggle.

Ariel threw a quick glance at the laptop, huffing when she noticed it hadn't responded at all. She thought it to be a strange thing. Then she returned her attention to Cadence, smiling as the mare nuzzled her before giving a nuzzle in return. Her little tail curled slightly around Snakie, as well as it could being little more than a scruffy tuft of soft hair.

Thunder continued to cook dinner. "I'm going to have to lower the sun in a bit, for it is getting late." Celestia stated as she laid next to Cadence. "...I'll do it after dinner." She added as she continued to rest. Cadence giggled lightly while Ariel rested on her soft and somewhat round belly.

Ariel looked at Celestia for a few moments, her tail moving away from Snakie as the little tuft of hair swished back and forth happily. Then the filly looked at Cadence once more, giving a little giggle in return as she still rested comfortably on the mare's belly.

Thunder continued to cook in the kitchen. Storm turned on the TV for the evening news. There was a breaking news report that was straight from the weather factory. Two pegasai were severely injured when a storm lost control. "Oh no!" Rainbow said worriedly. "What? What happened?" Thunder asked as he came to the TV after putting some kitchen stuff down. Thunder saw the two pegasai being flown to the hospital. Their wings were nearly fried. "That's sad. Hope the doctors could do something so they could fly again." Thunder said.

Ariel's ears flicked up when she heard Rainbow's exclamation, and then she looked over towards the television to see what the trouble was. She fluttered her wings, hovering over that way so she could get a better look. She saw the news report, letting out a tiny gasp when she saw the injured pegasi. "Oh, no..." she said softly.

Blitz picked up Ariel and put her on his lap. "Don't worry Ariel, the doctors will know what to do." Blitz stated as he started to stroke Ariel's fur lovingly. Thunder continued to cook in the kitchen. Celestia was almost ready to go lower the sun.

Ariel's ears flattened against the sides of her head as she looked up at Blitz with large, doubtful eyes. She had started quivering slightly at the mere mention of doctors; there was a clear mistrust of them there, apparent by her reaction. "W... Will they really?" she asked softly.

"What? You don't like doctors? Everypony has to go the doctor, regardless. You can have the most healthy pony in all of Equestria, and he still has to go to the doctor to make sure he's alright. Your daddy's gonna take you soon. Don't worry, everything will be okay." Blitz assured.

Ariel continued to stare up at him with a mix of mistrust and doubt as he talked about doctors. Then when he mentioned her being taken to the doctor, she immediately froze, tensing up at the thought. Then she started trembling, more noticeably so, tears forming in the corners of her eyes as she whimpered, "N-No..."

"Ariel...look at me. It's okay. The doctor down in Ponyville, Dr. Stablegood is a really nice doctor. In fact, he gives a treat out to every foal he sees." Blitz said comforting Ariel and hugging her. "Your uncle's right Ariel, going to the doctor is an important thing." Cadence stated. Snakie wrapped himself around Ariel and gently squeezed Ariel and let out a calm loving hiss.

Ariel only gave a soft whimper in response, still quivering in Blitz's embrace. Whatever had brought about her anxiety concerning doctors was entirely unknown, but it seemed like something deeply rooted in her... mostly likely related to something in the past. In spite of the comfort she was being given, she still did not feel any better about the idea of going to the doctor.

(OOC: Gah! I have this one song stuck in my head...it just popped up all of a sudden! )

 

Blitz could somehow read Ariel's mind since he had telekinetic abilities. "Oh...the past?" Blitz asked. "Dinner's ready!" Thunder suddenly called out. Thunder then gathered electricity and made the table set itself up. "Well...looks like I'm gonna go lower the sun just before dinner." Celestia said getting up.

Ariel just kept shivering, letting out little whimpers; just the mere thought of the past, the memories, whatever it was she was remembering, it all upset her. She could hardly even think about telling them anything, and when Thunder announced that dinner was ready, she almost automatically responded in a small, shaky voice, "I'm not hungry..."

"You sure about that?" Blitz asked. "Hmm...it seems like when Ariel falls into one of her mental spasms, she's not hungry...but as a family...we'll do our best to give Ariel...a new future." Blitz thought to himself. Cadence went to the table and sat down.

Ariel slowly nodded, still quivering. When she was like this, she could barely even stand the thought of food. Anxiety formed like a heavy ball in the pit of her stomach, smothering her appetite, and she couldn't be bothered to eat until that anxiety was done away with.

Ariel slowly nodded, still quivering. When she was like this, she could barely even stand the thought of food. Anxiety formed like a heavy ball in the pit of her stomach, smothering her appetite, and she couldn't be bothered to eat until that anxiety was done away with.

Thunder and Cadence waited at the table. Celestia soon got back from lowering the sun. Blitz was still comforting Ariel. "We can wait." Thunder stated as he gathered dome electricity and put a spell on all of the food so that it would stay warm. He would remove it when Ariel was ready to eat.

It took several minutes, but Ariel eventually did calm back down, the quivering ceasing. For a while afterwards, the filly was silent, clearly still in somewhat of a depressed mood. She knew what triggered these bouts of anxiety, and yet it was still out of her control when it did happen. No matter how she tried, she couldn't stop the way she felt, how she reacted to certain things... no matter how her former parents had tried to condition her out of it.

"Listen Ariel...that life you lived with your parents...is over. You're now with us." Thunder stated. "And look, you even have two princesses here with you." Rainbow stated. "Indeed you do Ariel. I know your parents...they were ruthless. They have now been locked up in jail..." Celestia stated.

Ariel let out another soft sigh, giving a slight nod of acknowledgement to what they were saying but otherwise barely responding. But then, the filly's ears flicked up in surprise when Celestia brought up her parents, and the fact that they had apparently been put into jail. "W-What?" she squeaked, this clearly coming as somewhat of a shock to her as she looked up at the princess.

Celestia nodded yes. "Yes...they clearly didn't know what parenting really was. They thought that by having a daughter, meant they could do whatever they wanted, which clearly goes against parenting. But now that you're with Thunder and us, we'll raise you to be the daughter you were meant to be." Celestia assured.

"Oh..." she said simply. After a few moments, she lowered her head, her ears folding back as she looked away. She felt she should have been happy now that her former parents were locked away, but... She just felt confused. These were the ponies she had come from, after all; and in spite of all they had done, she still couldn't help but believe that at least part of it she had brought upon herself one way or another. The filly very clearly knew that her former parents had been in the wrong... but still...

Celestia sighed, for she felt the burden that Ariel was going through as well. She carried her to the table. "I know it's tough Ariel. Those ponies were your birth parents...but as I said before, they didn't know what parenting was." Celestia stated. "Celestia is right, even though you're not with your birth parents anymore, look on the bright side, you've got caring, loving and joyful adopted parents." Cadence stated.

"Yeah..." Ariel sighed, still not feeling so sure at first. But as she listened, and as she thought on it, she started to realize that their words were true; perhaps she knew it all along, though her emotions sometimes clouded things. "Yeah! I do have a new mommy and daddy now... I have a whole new family, a happy one!" She looked around at each of them, smiling.

"Indeed you do Ariel." Thunder said happily. "Now...who's ready to eat?" Thunder asked as he took his fork and was about to pick up the first spoon. "Oh! oh! I am!" Rainbow said with a small giggle. Storm picked up his fork and so did Electra Blitz. "Well then..." Thunder stated. "Let's dig in!" Thunder stated as he took a fork of food and put it in his mouth.
