There were those who thought that Celestia and Luna would live forever. It was not a terrible assumption.They'd lasted a thousand plus years, and showed no signs of wear and tear! They were the most powerful alicorns to ever grace the lands. There was no indication to most that they were not immortal. The closest they'd ever come to losing their glorious leaders was when the Changelings attacked Canterlot.She'd been attacked, overwhelmed even, but she was back on her hooves by the end of the day. No need for alarm. Was but a scratch.

 

So they thought.

 

Queen Chrysalis had planned for the eventuality that she could be beaten. A million things could have gone wrong with her plan and, of course, they did. So, the spell that she had released would seem to do little: daze the Princess, put her out of commission, but all and all she would live. 

 

For a time.

 

The spell caused a horrible cancer to grow through her body. It was painless, a completely unnoticeable killer. The first sign of any danger came from a cough. By the time the Princess was coughing up blood, the cancerous disease had spread to her heart. There was nothing that could be done. The Princess' heart failed, and most thought it was the greatest tragedy of the age... that nothing could out do it...

 

They were wrong... with The Princess' sudden absence, and without unicorns who were trained and prepared to take over her role like ponies had before Celestia's rule, the sun halted in it's orbit, looming over it's ponies.

 

 

Seth Eclipse was in the sun goddesses bedroom, looking down at the fallen equine. Luna was next to him, sobbing silently as she couldn't believe such a tragedy. The greywolf had an arm draped over her, trying his best to comfort her in this time of misery.

"Princess Lightning Bliss," the Captain of the guard approached the young alicorn pony, who had taken up sitting in the throne of former Princess Celesita...looking very misserable and tired, "more scrolls have just come in for you. They are from the Princess of the Crystal Empire as well as the Prince."

 

"Leave them here along with the rest then, thank you Captain..." her eyes dripped from her own quiet crying as she continued to read the scrolls. The captain himself looked very distraught but left her in peace knowing she had her hooves full.

 

With Princess Twilight in morning with her friends, and Princess Luna morning as well...not to mention Cadence and Shining Armor were still trying to make preps to come to Canterlot...She was the only alicorn avaliable to take seat in Celestia's place...now that the great ruler of the sun has died..."I cannot believe this has happened..." She sighed again as she pulled up another scroll. It was embed with the seal of the Gryphons from all empires. It was a list of complaints of what is to be done with the sun, now that it has been stuck in place for days. Their crops were beginning to dry out and their rivers and creeks and lakes were suffering greatly...Their lively hoods for their fishermen were losing products and labor. She then pulled up another scroll embeded from the mayor of Manehattan. It too listed complaints about the city's lack of sleep and several citzens were having difficulties getting on with their routines with sun's status unchanged. Clocks could go only so far, but if for ponysake if they couldn't sleep!

 

Suddenly the door flew open, smacking the wall quite firmly by a familar exotic black stallion, dressed in Canterlot armor as was requested by the Captain during his time in service to protect the remaining Princesses. "FOR THE LOVE OF EQUESTRIA" She whinned at her husband as he came in.

 

"Calm down Blissy..." he approached her and bowed hummbly... "I know you're distraught...but I'm making my rounds here and I'm required to check up on you as part of it... Are you ok my darling?"

 

Her bottom lip quivered as the tears started up again...before she could stop herself, he flew up to her, hugging her tightly in her time of need. "The world is falling into chaos Night Lights...without her....without Celestia... what can I do? I'm only one pony...I...I can't...I can't do this..."

 

"Shhh..." he stroked her mane, "try to stay calm and do what you can...Princess Cadence and Shining Armor are on their way aren't they?"

 

"Yes...but...but....OH CELESTIA!!!" She whinnied out again, the scrolls falling off her lap.

"...my sister... my beautiful sister is... gone..." Luna moaned, still in the grip of the wolf. "I wasn't there for her... For a thousand years I wasn't there for her... I only had three to make up for it... now I have nothing. It was my fault..." She moaned.

 

Seth held the younger alicorn close to him, letting her tears dry on his coat. "Luna, if anything, we should be thanking you. You spent the past month helping your sister as she...got sick. You were there for her. You were there when she passed."

 

"I have nothing now Seth!" She lashed out. "She was the only thing that I had on this world... now she's gone..."

 

Seth gave a hug to the mare. "You still have cadence and Shining, Blueblood, and the six. Lightning Bliss is here in Canterlot now for you.

 

Luna looked to the wolf for a second. "True..."

 

"Plus... I will always be here for you..." Seth said. He remembered the message that Celestia had sent him when the sickness was first introduced. It had told him that if it were to come to her end, he was the one to comfort Luna due to our past in diplomatic events. That, and we are the two beings out of our place. Her, being 1000 years out of her norm, Seth being a wolf. He was entrusted with Luna's well being. Frankly, he was going to be there even if he never got the letter.

 

Luna hugged Seth, the tears letting up some, but not stopping.

 

At once, a knoce came from the door as a guard requested Seth's attention. "I'll be just a minute."

 

"It's ok, I need to be alone with my sister..." Luna replied as Seth turned for the door. He looked back, seeing luna rest her head on her sister's almost lifelike body.

 

"What is is?" He asked the guard when they were outside the hall.

 

"I wanted to inform you that since Luna is... not able to be at the throne... Bliss has taken the throne alone. However, it has been suggested by the council that a second is appointed so that Bliss, along with the other royal family, try to restate the solar cycle. In desperation, you were voted. It's up to Bliss to decide if you are to be temporary prince of equestria." He states.

 

Seth was taken a bit back by this, but didn't show it.

 

"We need you in the throne room where the council should be informing Bliss of the decision now."

The council just walked in as Bliss asked Night Lights to sit next to her as guarding post for the time being, an excuse to keep him around even though he agreed to obey the Captain of the guard's rules on patrols. When he attempted to leave based off this she through out the order for him to stay...which was unlike her, but he knew why she did it and smiled respectfully and loving and sat down at the foot of the throne.

 

"Princess Lightning Bliss," the first of the council ponies approached and bowed, his horn touching the floor as he did. He was a shrewed looking upper crut type unicorn with a deep orange coat and gray mane, "apologies during this time of great sorrow...but as current ruler substituting for the rest of the Princesses...until Princess Memiora Cadenca and Prince Shining Armor are here to assist you, the council pleades with you to consider our suggestion for your own benfits until then."

 

She blinked at the council pony's sudden audience and request and noticed the rest of the ponies nodding along with him. She sighed, eyed Night Lights for his reassuring, loving gaze, then replied back. "Of course Councilor...um forgive me, what is your name?"

 

"It's Shard, Princess, Sleek Shard at your service," he sat down on his carried pillow along with the rest of the attending diplomates, this as tradition of them, something Bliss had never seen before. "I will get straight to the point your Highness. We all know that you are new to your ranking position as Princess, and your uncertainty as ruler...The fact you've stepped up in a time of great need is indeed a worthy attribute to your royalty." She squeemed a bit at his words, it sounding more like he were patronizing then 'honoring', "But the fact remains your Highness... you cannot control your powers that well, barely understand the basics of magic, let alone able to rise and lower the sun and-"

 

"Get ON with it Councilor Shard..." Night Lights snorted, being her guardian had its perks.

 

"Forgive me... It is strongly recommended your Highness...that until help arrives and Princess Luna and the other royals come up with a plan on how to take turns to rise and lower the sun, and with you current ruler of Equestria...That a diplomat be assigned as Prince of Equestria by your side, untill order is fully restored amongst the Princesses."

 

"A Prince?" She blinked and turned to Night Lights then back to the Councilor, "But Mr. Shard, Night Light's is a shape shifting dragon, and was bond by marriage and agreement to Princess Celestia at the day of my ascention that he be my loyal protector... Could he possibly be able to take on such a role with me?"

 

"Forgive me Princess I was not specific, I did say "Diplomat" and sadly your husband and protector, is not that at all..."

 

"We recommend," a light blue mare with green hair spoke up amongst the councilors, "that diplmoat Seth of the Wolven Code, be the Princes for Equestria."

 

"WHAT???!!!" Night Lights stood up on his hooves, a dragon growl heaving out of his throat, "THAT IS OUTRAGOUS! NO PONY IS TO BE HER PRINCE WHILE I"M STILL BREATHING!!!"

 

"Night Lights control yourself..." Bliss spoke up over his roar making him calm near instantly... "This isn't something I'm the least bit comfortable with...but I can understand your points Concilors...Where is Diplomat Seth? I want to hear this from him and what he has to say on this..."

The wolf and the guard, who now called himself a council member, were on their way to the throne room. Seth was very much confused about the whole thing while the guard seemed more nerves than anything else.

 

"We still need to bring you up to speed on exactly what the job entitles and what you should expect on a day-to-day life." He continued. The pony had been rambling for the past five minutes about specifics of the job, which Seth didn't mind, but whenever he tried to ask a question, the pony just went on. "You will mostly be getting paperwork and addressing the citizens who bring cases to you in the day court, as well as attending council sessions."

 

"Um, if I may ask-"

 

"Oh, and we need to assign you your personal guard and get you some armor."

 

"Hello... can't you hear m-"

 

"And then I should tell the chef to get on your meat meals-" He was stopped when Seth placed a more than firm paw on the pony's shoulder.

 

"Look, there are a few things that don't make seance. One, why am I being crowned prince of a nation? I'm a wolf!"

 

(Im not done, I'm just going to be delayed for a bit)

"Well..." The pony began shakily. "you... are... the most qualified? You are the only diplomat... besides Princess Bliss of coarse." He seemed to gain more confidence with every word. "Of all ponies to lead the Equestria, you seemed-"

 

"Like the worst pick of them all!" Seth retorted. "I am a wolf! I may be a diplomat, but I'm a bloody wolf! How do you expect me to lead a nation of ponies?!?! Really? You couldn't let Bliss or her dragon-pony husband take the role? Is it because I'm a diplomat? Because if it is, then let me tell you why I am one. It was because I killed ponies. For a living!" By now, the pony was cowering. "I was a war veteran! They picked me because I hated killing ponies. They shipped me here, got my brother fucking killed, then took the job as the equestrian diplomat." he said, turning back for the throne room.

 

He stopped dead in his tracks when he heard the dragon roar. Seth then turned to his cowardly follower and said, "Second, you are sending a wolf, an animal that is stereo-typically know for lust and desire for taking what we want, and decide to make him the prince to a princess who has a dragon/pony husband that is very protective and sounds like he's really pissed already? Why do we have you ponies anyway? I should be the ruler of this nation." He said with a befuddled look.

 

He pushed open the doors and walked in. Seeing Lightning Bliss on her throne, Seth bowed. "Your majesty" he said, rising after a while. Seeing that there was a meeting, he then said, "Am I intruding?"

The council all stood up and immiedatly bowed to the Wolf, already assuming him to take the role as prince. Night Lights, still in his pony form, had stood up upon Seth's entry, and was protruding what looked like spikes out of his mane and spine...his anger and disgust of what the council had requested had enraged him beyond belief...and it only got worse as Seth entered...Blissy on the other hand remained seated and emotionless...the only hint that she was unstable was the deep black circles under her eyes, her primary feathers were sticking out like they've not been groomed in ages, and her mane was messy. She looked to not have slept in days.

 

"Diplomat Seth?" she said in a friendly voice, knowing they were good friends, and bowed to him...but her face controted back to one of firmness and stress, "I'm sure by now you know that the Council wants you to take place as Prince by my side as Princess temporarily for the time being...?"

 

"It is highly recommend you except this position Sir Seth," Councilor Shard pleaded nearly with Seth before lowering his head and ears down, obviously terrified of the wolf's presence...

 

"An absoloute OUTRAGE..." Night Lights snarled, making the throne room rummble, "My WIFE doesn't need help from another male, wolf OR STALLION! I wouldn't allow Seth to take up role let alone that spoild Prince Blueblood!"

 

"With all do respect guardian of Princess Lightning Bliss..." Shard spoke up, giving the pony dragon a firm eye, "You are not of royalty nor of council...

 

"I am Night Lights! Son of Pyra, Matriarch of the Dragon Clans to the north, and just as a noble of a prince to any pony!" He snarled, taking up the hopes that would be distinguished.

 

"A prince of wyverns... who abaondoned his post to live amongst ponies if I recall..." Shard smirked at him.

 

"WHY YOU STUPID MULE!" The black pegasus fluttered to the air, smoke billowing from his nose.

 

"ENOUGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Suddenly Bliss's eyes went bright yellow in glow, her hooves smahed down, shaking the throne room more so then Night's roaring... A burst of god like alicorn magic came from her horn then, freezing everypony and wolf in place in a bright rainbow aura...For awhile it looked like they were all frozen in time aside form the alicorn that created the spell... After a minute or two, she calmed down...the magica that responded to her rage subsided as well as brought Night Lights down to the ground. He refracted from her outburst, seeming to be terrified of her reaction... "Please..." she panted, a tear dripping down her cheek..."Diplomat Seth...as your friend... I respect your opinion and logical reasoning why you wouldn't want to consider this role with me...and I'm sure you know my reasons of being uncomfortable with the situation, particularly with my husband...Forgive him... his reaction is understable..." she turned to Night Lights, gave him a gentle smile but a firm eye telling him "if you outrage like that again I'll remove you from my sight!" then turned back to Seth, "But as you can see from my appearence..." she stood up, expanding her wings, her mane, her face looking weak and unhealthy, "I cannot do this alone... I'm barely qualified as is to be leading Canterlot, let alone the entire country of Equestria...You have more experience in your roles of a diplomate then I do being an alicorn...I ask no longer as your friend...but as Princess...Will you help Equestria...in its time of sorrow...as I have?"

Seth was mostly calm about the conflict at hand, up until Bliss's dragon husband nearly broke his ears. He was motionless, although he had a slight frown for the council and for the situation at hand. Looking to Bliss, he could see she was taking this rather hard. It would benefit her if he was to take the job, but in the same respect, it would be disconcerting for Night Lights. Knowing Bliss's guardian, it wasn't best to get on his bad side. Being his wife's prince... was more than pushing his luck.

 

"Look." He finally said. "Truthfully, the only job I want to have at the moment is to be at Luna's side. I fear that the recent loss of her sister is more than the young princess can bare alone. Saying that though, I can't deny my obligations to the throne. If it is my duty to be prince of the ponies, I will not deny anypony my service." Seth, finishing his statement, waked up to the throne. He noticed that Night Light was glaring at him. Bowing before the throne again, he wanted to make one thing clear. "There is a few things I must ask of you Bliss. One: I want you to be with your husband as much as possible. You are in need of compaction that he is wanting to give you. Two: As I am most likely going to deal with most of the red tape here, I ask you to take care of Luna. She is morning for her sister, and as you are her kin, she will need you more than ever. Those are my wishes, I ask that you honer them." He said with a smile. Turning to Night, he then said. "You are an honorable dragon, and it would be unjust and immoral of me to take this position with out your blessing. Will you grant it?"

Nights was taken back by Seth's compassionate words on such a tricky topic, not that the drama and sorrow that was filling the kingdom was more then enough...when suddenly Blissy began to fall from the throne.

 

"PRINCESS!" One of the councilors shrieked in terror as he watched the white mare faint and fall towards Seth and Nights.

 

Quickly Nights caught her easily, and lowered her into his lap, nuzzling her face. "Keep calm everypony..." he turned to Seth knowing he was just as rightfully concerned, "she's not slept in days Seth... She's been dealing with all the Kingdoms troubles left and right, and then some with other kingdoms from the gryphons, dragons and other races...She's not eaten, hasn't slept...and hardly has time to morn herself..." He grinned his teeth, hugged his unconcious wife tightly, sighed, then turned to Seth again, "...She needs you, and you can do things that I cannot under these circumstances...I...I give you my blessing to be by her side as Prince...And...I'll make sure she abides to your wishes."

 

He fluttered back away from the throne, still holding her in his hooves. She gave out an exhausted yawn, but her eyes were too heavy to be stirred. "I'll take her to see Luna so she can rest properly. Soon as she wakes I'll let you know. I'd like to speak with you after everything is settled with you and the council. In private. Good luck Prince Seth."

 

The tired and frustrated black pony dragon bowed to him in respect, then fluttered out quickly, carrying Blissy with him. He made it no time to Princess Luna and Celestia's room, where the old white alicorn still laid in her restful bed. "Forgive me your Highness, Luna..." He bowed to the blue Princess of the moon, "Seth has agreed to be Prince tempoarily to help aid Lightning Bliss..."

 

"Is she alright..." Luna asked without looking up to see them, but heard the commotion from down the hall. She continued to stroke her dead sister's none moving rainbow like hair...her eyes puffy from crying.

 

"She's just exhausted...I was hoping she could rest with you... Soon as she wakes I know you and she will have much to catch up on." She lowered her down on a soft couch next to the bed and pulled a quilt over her, giving her a soft peck on the cheek and turned to head back to the throne room.

 

"Where will you go dragon?" Luna again called to him without looking up. "Was it not my sister...who gave you the obligation to guard and look after Lighting Bliss?"

 

"She has your Highness..." Nights said back without turnin got face the mourning daughter of the moon, "and I intend to do so...Lightning Bliss still has to run things after she awakens...and she needs a prince to do it...If the prince isn't protected...then this kingdom will suffer...Lightning Bliss is in the safest location in the palace...with you and your sister...I'll send the captain of the guard to have him check up on you three." He fluttered back to the throne room, and landed quietly next to the throne where Seth had taken up seat. He nodded ot him to show where his loyalties were laid, and patiently waited for the meeting to be over.

As Bliss is carried away, Seth waited until they were out the door. As they left, one of the counselors cleared his throat to gain their attention. He turned with a slight glare to the pony.

 

"If we could get back to matters at hand..." The pony leading the council said. "Bliss was finishing some reports when we came in. If oyu wouldn't mind starting with that, then we can get to the matter of your and bliss's coronation."

 

Seth looked to the scrolls then to the pony. "Councilor, of all things we need, a coronation is not one of them." He said simply, walking over to his new throne. Pulling one of Bliss's scrolls up, he began to read. "Is there anything else before the meeting is adjourned?"

 

"I must protest!" The pony argued, obviously not expecting the reaction. He even stood up and advanced on the wolf. "I'm not sure how they do it in the empire, but here, we have tradition! It is expected that our new rulers meet their people. If you don't you only show disrespect for our nation's-"

 

The wolf through down the scroll, his patents at an end. He then stood from his throne and glared at the pony. "Our nation is going through one of the biggest crises it's had in a millennia. Princess Celestia has parishes, and they are grieving for her. The last thing they would like to see is us two trying to replace her with fake smiles. Our people need us to perform at our best in order to help them live out this dilemma. To add on, we are only temporary. When Luna takes the throne back, I as well as Bliss will return to our earlier positions. Is that good enough for you, counselor?" He barked. The pony backed up slightly, fearing the wolf. His logic was sound as well as frightening.

 

After a second, he and the others stood. "Good day, prince." He said, turning away from the wolf. As they did, the lead pony whispered to his second. "Maybe... it was not best to assign a wolf to this matter."

 

Seth returned to the scroll when Nights walked back in. As he nodded, he nodded as well. "How is your wife?" He asked. "And why are you not with her?"

"She's safe with the daughter of the moon," he said low voiced, a hint of a growl, not targeting the new prince but at the situation. He was just as distraught as the rest of them. "My loyalties will always be to my wife first and foremost...However," he sat down next to Seth on the floor near the throne where typical bodyguards are stationed, "since you are going to be her co-prince and royal partner, that saftey and protection now extends to you in my eyes..."

 

He looked at the wolf then, a flicker of annoyance and confusion in his eyes. "I know you don't want to be a prince, and I know you know why I don't like the situation anymore then you do... I know though that this isn't meant to muscle me out of my marraige with my wife, or you challenging my role as her husband and protector. But the fact of the matter is, rumors will spread...ponies will talk about you twos relationship... With or without a coronation the people will find out what is going on within these walls of the royals. I trust in you as well as her, to keep it under control, and do what is right for Equestria."

 

He sighed a bit, and realizing now that the room was empty with just the two of them, he decided to stretch his true form out, and transformed into his dragon body. He left out a hefty yawn, one of exhaustion as well as frustration. "Much better..." he grinned as he curled up, his whole body surrounding the throne, his tail extended out and smacking the wall where the doors were, "even though I'm tired and may fall asleep here Prince Seth," he giggled at the new title, "no assassin would dare to enter this room and disturbe a sleeping dragon, hell bent of protecting the ones that work alongside Princess Lightning Bliss." He then lightly scooped up the scrolls that Blissy had been looking at and handed them to Seth before shutting his eyes and mummbling... "She was very distraught about...these recent...messages...something needs to be done about the sun, before the entire kingdom goes insane."

Seth smiled at the tired dragon. Taking the scrolls from him, the wolf picked up the one he threw down earlier. He thought about what Nights had said about public reaction and how they would look upon Bliss and him. It was... fearing. She could only imagine what could happen if others found out about a wolf leading Equestria.

 

"I thank you for being so accepting of this." He replied, opening the first letter. "As I said, you have nothing to fear of me. I rather just work in the background. Public moral will be a major concern and... As a wolf... I will not be able to support that." He said with a sigh. He looked to the dragon with slight need in his eyes. "You two must be the face of Equestria. My presence here will only endanger the fragile peace we have." Seth finished.

 

Reading over the letter, it described the main issue of he sun leading ponies to complain and the natural temp rising. He sighed, knowing he couldn't do anything. Pulling out a piece of paper and a quill, he wrote a response.

 

"To the mayor of Manehatten,

 

I wish to tell you that Canterlot hears your plees. We too are having our own crisis, but we may be able to restore the solar rotation soon. We hope for your city and we will send releafe effors when we can. We suggest that begin water conservation efforts as needed as this May last longer than expected.

 

From the temporary prince and princess of Equestria."

 

He read it over, knowing he was powerless to help anyone. He sealed it and placed it in the beginnings of a send pile. He sines again, and pulled up the next letter.

After a few hours of much needed rest, she finally woke groggily, shaking the blanket off her back. Her ears perked at the heavy sighing and weeping of a familiar voice and turned to see not only that she was in the the room of the deceased Princess of the Sun but her sister Luna as well.

 

Not wanting to state the obvious of the sorrow, and tearing up at the sight herself, she calmly asked "How long...have I been...out?"

 

"Not long good child," Luna answered just as calmly, "thoust looked like you needed the rest."

 

"My head hurts...throbbing...I can't remember the last time I-" She sniffed back, feeling ashamed to be crying when it wasn't her sister that had passed away.

 

"Does thou knowst of the pains I feel..." Luna asked her, dwindling off the natural form of speech and back to the elder ways of english, to what she was more comfortable with. "Does thou experienced pain like this before?"

 

"A few times your Highness..." She slowly slipped off the couch and fluttered next to Luna's side. "My father mainly...He..." she stopped, increasing more sadness.

 

"Tis'alright...it helps to speak of pains...and in this time of sorrow, we can all use the company...as so misery loves to have." She sobbed quietly while stroke Celestia's mane.

 

"He died when I was a younger filly...It," she sniffed, "it was a heart attack... he was so young and strong...it was never his time...And yet..." she looked at Celestia's quiet face, "apparently the black mare of death doesn't favor anypony...she treats us all fairly. Young or old...sick or healthy...moral and even...

 

"Immortal..." Luna nodded back and wrapped a hoof around the smaller white mare. "She was proud of you my sister...She always knew you had the makings of greatness..."

 

"No no..." she pushed back into Luna's hoof for more comfort for the both of them, "or if...she did... I still don't see it..."

 

"You must have greatness...because you are here...morning for her now...stepping into her spot for her...and for myself...No pony should be doing that in tis time of misery..." She turned to her then, their eyes locked, "yet here you are...crying...but staying strong for the good of this Kingdom...how does one do so?"

 

"I..." she sniffed again, unsure of how to answer the question, "I just....do..."

After at least four similar letters from the cites of the nation, Seth Eclipse was nearly in tears for the suffering of the people. He even had to toss the last letter away from the misery of the people. Night was asleep at this point, so he was actually taking advantage of the moment to lose himself and shed a few tears. fHe lied on the throne, looking to the ground in sadness. After a few minutes of tears, he finally got up and looked to the next letter.

 

As he begun to read the next letter, the door to the throne room open. "urgent message from the..." A messenger pony called, seeing the dragon and wolf in the throne room. He seemed to begin to sweat as Seth stood up. "...Um... I'll just give it to you..." Said the unicorn, levitating the letter over to Seth. As it landed, he ran out the door, slamming it behind him.

 

He looked at it for a second, seeing that it's from the wolven empire. His eyes widened, seeing his homelands emblem. He unsealed the letter and read it.

 

 

"To the present rulers of the equine nation,

 

I send my deepest condolences regarding the fall of your ruler. Our informant has kept us up to date with the evens and we wish that her death was an honorable one. She ended our war, and began our peace. She died too quick for her honored accomplishments.

 

However, there are more pressing matters to discuss. I would not ask of you anything during this hard time, but... our nation is facing near apocalyptic events. As our informant, Seth Eclipse, mentioned, the sun has stopped over your nation. In saying that, the moon has rested over ours, and we are feeling it's effect. The temperature has decreased rapidly. Snowstorms are forming around the the outer settlements. We have even lost contact with some cities. We have reserves of food and water, but the weather is halting any effort to supply it to anything too far from the capital. Our wolves are suffering... dying... We need the light, Equestria. Please head our request. If we don't get any change within the next few weeks... we might be lost to the snow and ice.

Seth dropped the letter, dripping his head in his paws. He whimpered as tears ran down his face. "Oh god..."

After stating her last sentence, and recalling the strong memories of her father...she pulled back from Luna's arm and turned to look out the window. By this time it should be late evening, but with the sun still up it might as well be noon. "Something has got to be done with the sun and moon Luna..." she forced firm words to the sobbing Princess... "Celestia has come to rest...and I know this is a dark time for you but...Surely you do have the power to lower the sun and still raise the moo-"

 

"HOW DARE YOU PATRONIZE ME!!!!!!" The blune unicorn bellowed in a godess like voice of rage and despair, "HAVE YOU NO HEART TO SEE THAT MY ONLY SISTER IS GONE!!! AND ALL YOU CAN THINK ABOUT IS THE SKY??"

 

"Go ahead...yell at me..." she sat down and took it, "I will not fight you..."

 

Luna snorted her aura horn glowing bright looking like she was about to zap the smaller alicorn brutally...but after seeing a tear drip from her face...she lowered her guard and calmed slight. "I have no wish to deal with the citizens petty complaints...nor the strength Lightning Bliss..."

 

"Can you teach me the spell at least?" She asked calmly, still sitting and keep her head down.

 

"Tis not a mere spell that controls the sun and moon...this a matter of magical perciverence...strength, and belief...You don't just simply levitate them up and down..."

 

"But still..." she stood up, but still kept her head down, "can you at least explain to me the...the process of-"

 

"Be gone Lightning Bliss...just...go..." She ordered her out, and quietly did so without another peep, but just as she was about to levitate the doors shut, "get yourself some food Lightning Bliss...you look skinnier..."

 

"I'll...remember Luna," she left shutting the doors behind her and fluttered out to the nearest balcony that overseed Canterlot. The streets were empty far below with some few citizens seeming confused about whether to keep their shops open or attempt to go to sleep. She stared at the sky...seeing the sun slightly, bright and powerful...and so big..."I have to try something...Before...everypony, everybeing in Equestria...suffers...I have to..." Her horn began to glow slightly, she sensed its will and it was sensing hers, and as if she was talking to the forces within her, nodded and began to focus on moving the sun...

 

Overhead the sun seemed to be surrounded by a white light...and inch by inch...it slowly began to set slightly...Sweat billowed out of Blissy's wings and face...her horn beaming with piercing rainbow light...the veins on her head were popping out..."Come on...MOVE!!!" She forced the sun at least a foot from its orginal position before finally her magic back fired, slapping back into her horn and flinged her against the other side of the railing. Her spine felt like it snapped, a shearing pain that knocked the wind out of her...but she couldn't scream. She fell down, panting but slowly regained her composure. Then her left ear perked up, hearing a crowd of citizens far below, muttring loudly. She peered over the balcony and can see it looked like nearly all of Canterlot have gathered to watch her attempt to bring the sun down.

 

They cheered for her as she poked her head up, screaming for her to continue, that she could do it, "new princess of the light!" even. It made her blush...but more motivated to try again. "I have to do this...I have to try...at least give them...one day of normality..." she focused again, her horn beaming brightly, a ray of magic spirling outward several feet in front of her. The magic specticale was incredible from far below. The crowd ooohed and ahhhed at her talent and cheered louder for as she stood on top of the railing...continuing her magical assault on the sun to be lowered from it's stubborn position. Slightly once again, it began to tilt down, slowly and slowly...her head pulsing with pain more then she could describe.

 

Luna turned her head, noticiing her shadow that casted on her sister, had moved its position slightly, and turned to the window where the baclony was. She could see her citizens cheering for the small white alicorn, and snorted. "Fool..." she turned away and laid her head on her sister, "oh sister...You've taught her nothing? She'll kill herself for attempting to do what you do..."

 

The pain was intolerable...from her horn and back...but still she persisited, the sun now touching on the roofs of the city, just slightly starting a sunset..."I...sckcass...mlustsy..." she couldn't speak, her brain felt like it was melting...her mouth was foaming, even foam was beginning to develop under her wings. A sudden shock went out of her horn then, a reflex single like lightning, though she didn't notice it. The wave of magic zapped forth back into the castle, and into the throne room wizzing passed Night's nose and right in front of the crying Prince Seth.

 

Nights woke up with a start, shocked and riddled, but the magical signal he knew almost immiedatly was, "Seth..." he turned to the Prince, "It's Lightning Bliss...oh gods...She's DYING!!!"

(I'm just saying now, sorry for the short reply. I just am out of it today. Again, sorry.)

 

Seth, still crying over his country, nearly jumped back over his throne in surprise by the energetic blast. He found himself digging his claws into it though. Unsheathing his claws from the furniture, he looked to Night. At hearing the news, he bolted for the door ahead of the dragon. Sprinting out the door, he made his way towards where he assumed the explosion emanated from. He passed a squad of guards who seemed to be doing the same thing, fallowing them to the outside balcony where a tired and weak Lightning Bliss seamed to be living up to her name. Protruding from her horn was a massive vortex of energy Seth hadn't even seen Volt create during his time at the dam. The ground around him shuttered as the magic began to have it's effects on the castle wall.

 

"Bliss! What are you doing!?!"

She couldn't hear anything anymore...not even the crowd, not even Seth's cries...nor the wind of the magical force emmitting from her own forehead..."AHHHHHHHHH," the power lifted her involuntarily off the ground as the sun continued to lower ever so slightly, her eyes emmitting a horrofying god like glow. The crowd below all began to fear for the alicorn princess as they realized something was deeply wrong.

 

"The princess? Is she possessed?" Call a young stallion from below.

 

"She's being overtaken by her own magic!!! SOME PONY DO SOMETHING!" A elder mare cried out. This threw the crowd of Canterlot citizens into a panic as Bliss's magical wrath continued on the sun, not doing much then lowering it a little further behind the horizon.

 

"It will be over soon....I just...need to do....a little..." her magic suddenly began to deteriorate the more she thought about what needed to be done, "no...no...must keep it...AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH" Another full blast of spiraling magic emitted...so violently then the first time that it counteracted her horn and as if a switch was flicked off, the magic swirled back into her horn, but still keeping her in the air...Then...in a burst of light around her body...a violent dark rainbow explosion emitted off her, before it send her flying into Seth and the guards...She looked up to them...Prince Seth included, her eyes going pale as the magic stopped flowing..."Did I...bring the sun d-down?" Then she blacked out...the sun still remaining just above the city rather then high in the sky it previously was.

Seth was on the ground, dazed by the blast. The rainbow magic had taken it's effect on his 'spectra' condition. As he slowly got up, he noticed similar delusions setting in. He shook his head, trying to clear his head of the effects. "Not now... Not now..." He silently told himself. He got up and looked to Bliss. To the untrained eye, she could have been dead. She was barely breathing and her body was so thin and crippled one hoped she was out of her misery. Turning to the guards, he yelled, "We need a medic!"

 

A pair of royal guards came up to the scene and levitated the alicorn onto a gurney and rushed her to the castle inferiority. Seth walked by their side, but his condition was only worsening being around the radiant magic of the rainbow alicorn. When they arrived, Seth walked up to a guard and said. "Get Night Lights here now. If he asks where I am, I will be in my quarters." The wolf said before departing. He raced to his room, locking the door behind him.

The black dragon struggled to remember how to transform before one of the guards came rushing in, his fear thrown out the window and replaced with urgentency. "Guardian Night Lights!" He whinnied, "you must come quickly! It's Princess- ..your wife!"

 

"GAH CURSE THIS STUPID DRAGON FORM," he finally managed to focus and transformed back into his pony body, then flew like a bat out of hell passed the guard, making him spin out of control for a second, then ran out after him. He managed to direct Nights to infermary then waited for him out the door, ears down and tired...A sort of look on this face that said "can this day get any worse?"

 

"What happend?" He billowed at the doctor as he held her fragile hoof in his... She wasn't moving, he could barely hear her breathing...she felt cold to the touch "doctor? Is...is she...?"

 

"No, not while I have anything to say about it!" The doctor, with a determined heroic face, galloped back and forth gathering supplies, warm blankets and IV tubes and packs. He started by putting an IV through her arm, then surprisingly her neck. "Please Guardian," the doc pushed him aside, "I need room to work, give us a second!" He then proceeded to throw huge blankets on the fragile mare, then hooked her up to a machine to monitor her heart rate and levels. He stared at it for some time... hmming to himself and umming...looking at her weakened face, then back to the chart monitor again. Nights paced the room as the doctor continued to evaluate, watching his every movement, waiting for a sound, a sign of good news.

 

"Ah..." the doctor sighed, only to be snatched up powerfully by the black pegasi stallion.

 

"WHAT WHAT?? WHAT IS IT DOCTOR?" He panicked holding the unicorn up high tremmbling at the same time, "IS SHE???"

 

"If you'll put me down? I'll tell you..." The doc gulped a bit, but relaxed after Nights complied with him, "please have a seat Mr Lights...This is something I need you to be calm about, as you will have to report this to the prince...." He took his glasses off, cleaned them levitating a cloth to do so, then placed them back on. "She's suffering a magical shock out...From what the guards informed me, she tried to move the sun... As a result she over used magical powers she didn't know how to control, it abused her physical body to the point she could have exploded had that spark or whatever is within her didn't react to protect her in time...Her reaction though is worse due to malnutrition. She's not ate right in days and obviously hasn't slept, and with this heroic act of desperation, the magic she emmitted threw her into a coma..."

 

"My...my wife is in...a c-c-c..." Night Lights front legs shook violenty, tears streaming down his face.

 

"She'll recover Night Lights, I don't believe she'll be locked in this coma for too long, when her body recieves the proper nutrition, I'm confident she will awake again..." He placed a hoof on his shoulder, "go and inform Prince Seth, then when you are done, come back to be with her. She'll want the one she loves most to be at her side."

 

Nights nodded, and calmly rose to his feet, still sobbing and shaking as he went. Two guards had to stand next to his side to keep him from falling from his own sadness and despair.

 

"Guardian Night Lights," the captain came up to him along with the two guards, "whatever you need from me sir...I'll do what I-"

 

"I need to see Prince Seth...this information...he must..." Nights gulped, unable to keep it together.

 

"We'll get you there asap," the captain nodded and escorted the black pegasi with the two guards to the Prince's new room.

Seth ran to his bathroom looking at himself in the mirror. He was sweating badly and panting. His expression was that one of an insane victim. The wolf ran some cold water in the sink, splashing some on his face. "Please... Not now... I didn't do anything yet." He muttered to no one in the room. His head was dizzy, dealing as if he was going to pass out. When he looked up at his reflection, he saw a mare standing behind him. With a jump, he turned around to see he was alone.

 

"Hello..." He called out, looking across the room. The light from the fire in his room cast shadows across the empty area. He kept scanning the room for any sign of the mare. Slowly, red-stained messages began to fill the walls of the room.

 

-don't trust them

-the Pegasus race lie

-we are nothing to their eyes

 

Seth was used to this, however he kept looking for mare.

 

"You trusted one of them." A voice called. Seth turned to see the mare resting on a sofa. She had a less than pleased face.

 

"Lighting Chaser." Seth greeted, looking to the mare he knew. He sat where he was, giving her distance. "If you are referring to Bliss, she earned my trust."

 

"She is a pegasus. You know what their race has done-" she barked, only to be interrupted by Seth.

 

"You are one too!"

 

"Was, Seth. Was!" She corrected, gesturing to the stubs on her back. "I was betrayed!"

 

"I know... Still, I owe it to Bliss. I owe her my life." He said, sighing. He turned to the sink, looking at himself. "Should I expect any more visits form you?"

 

"You might. Her aria is close to that of spectra. It will have effects on you. Remember this Seth... Remember where your loyalties lie."

 

Seth turned to thank the mare, only to see he was alone. The blood writing was gone. It was just another allusion played by his mind. He sat there for a few minutes, thinking over what lighting said. He was finally interrupted by a knock on his door. Seth, his fur a mess, walked to the door. He opened it to see a flustered Nights and a royal guard. "What's the diagnosis?" He asked in consern.

"She's..." Nights could barely contain his sorrow as he shoved passed the guard, passed Seth. The guard followed him in as he felt was right but immiedatly was met by a growling, "LEAVE US!"

 

"Yes sir!" The captain whinnied and ran out of the room, shutting the door behind him. When he skidded to a hault, he calmed himself, reminding that he would have acted the same way if it were his wife in the doctor's room right now.

 

 

After a moment of pacing the room, not acknowleding Seth for a moment...he looked to be a tiger in a cage, waiting to be released. "She's...she's in a coma..." he finally blurted out, collapsing on the rug next to the lit fire. The orange and yellow colors reflected off his charcoal black fur like dancing demons as an inner sadness swirled within him, "she's in a coma Seth...The doctor suspects due to her lack of keeping up on her well being, not eating right...and...the fact she tried to perform a magic so powerful that she was never trained in...her body was too weak to withstand the magic backfire...He-" he turned and looked at the rugged and seemed dazed wolf, "he suspects...she'll get better, after proper nutritioin...but...I don't...I don't know how she'll be when she wakes up..."

 

He laid his head back down, sobbing into his hooves. No longer was he making the sounds of a mourning pony, instead the sounds of a agonized dragon rummbled through the room and all through the castle.

Seth looked to the pony, his heart falling in the word of the report. "... I'm so sorry..." He said, walking over to grieving pony. He sat next to him, looking to the fire. The light danced across the room, illuminating the two. "Bliss is a strong mare Nights. If any pony could survive this, she would do it with flying colors." He said, resting a paw on the pony's shoulder. Looking to him, he gave an expression of seriousness. "Whatever you need me to do, I will do it to the best of my power. I just want to warn you... if I run out of the room, or break down for no apparent cause... just let it happen. I... it's a long story..." He said. Looking the the mirror above the mantle, He looked to his rainbowed eye. It was still a bit brighter than normal. Bliss's radiant magic was going to make the effects stronger than before.

Sniffing hotly he lifted his head weakly up, resting on the outside of his arm so he could talk, "What do you mean? Let you...go nuts?" He was so distraught, he wasn't sure if he heard him right or was he even talking straight. "I just...don't know how this could have happen... I should have been there for her...I should have known  she would have tried something like this..."

She quivered under the blankets as the IV took effect to giving her much needed rehydration and nutrition...but in her mind...other things were going on...

 

"Where...am I?" She called out in the dark void of her mind..."hello? Is anypony there?"

 

"Shhh..." called a soft familiar voice. She turned to the direction it was coming from, and slowly and surely a light appeared before her...then took shape...and formed a familiar tall white alicorn...with angel like hair..

 

"Princess Celestia??? But you're-" Bliss held back the words...merely crying in response.

 

"You were very brave to have done what you did Lightning Bliss," she smiled down on her, "but you should have known better then to attempt such a fett like that...You know you weren't trained in the arts of that sort of magic."

 

"But your Celestia...your sister...all of Equestria...our entire world it's..." she cringed feeling ashamed to be talking to her when Luna should be the one seeing her now, "I had to do something...to make it right...Isn't that why I'm an Alicorn? To help save our people?"

 

"You are an alicorn Lightning Bliss..." she placed her familiar golden shoed hoof on her shoulder, "but this does not mean you can do this alone...Look to what's inside you Princess Lightning Bliss...seek the power within...and you will know what to do." Suddenly she started to fade away back into the darkness. Bliss stood up and chased after her, not wanting to let her go again.

 

"CELESTIA!!!"

"Celestia...we can't...survive...without you..." He heard her say in her sleep.

Seth looked to the dragon with an expression of guilt. "It's... a long story... You remember Volt right? The pegasus from the party? Well, he gave me a job at his dam. It was the first day when we were attacked... and... I got hit... badly. I lost my bio-limb and my eye. He used a chemical called spectra... it is made of..." He swallowed, looking away from the dragon. He couldn't tell him what was in it. "Well... it makes me...see ponies...that have passed on..." He said. "Call me mad... but it's true."

 

Seth stood up from his position next to the fire and walked over to his bed. There was a small vile of a rainbow fluid. Picking it up, he looked at it, letting it slow within it's glass walls. He then walked back the the dragon and handed it to him.

 

"This... is what's running through my veins..."

Nights sniffed at the vile, the shrugged back, growling and snarling slightly from its stincth... "That smells an awful lot like Blissy's magical aura...but..." He blinked at Seth, "I don't understand? How does this make you go insane? Of course if you're...serious about you seeing ponies from the after life...Wait a second..." He stood up then, grabbing Seth by his neck and jerking him closer with omnious strength of a dragon, and glared firmly at his rainbow enchanted eye...

 

It was glowing brightly with the bright colors of the rainbow, similar to the colors of Blissy's cutie mark and magic. He growled with astonishment then shoved Seth back, "what happened to you when you were out on the balcony with my Blissy?" He snorted at the wolf, not of outrage but of serious concern, "your eye...something is wrong, something you're not telling me..."

Seth fell to the floor, but recovered quickly. Standing, he shook his head and looked to the pony. "(cough) When she was concentrating the sun with her magic, it overloaded. The resulting blast forced the guards and myself fell to the ground. With the last ounce of strength, she asked if she lowered the sun. Sadly, we now have a permanent near sunset.

 

"The magical blast was absorbed by the spectra in my blood. With that much energy, it began to show allusions around me... That is why I ran for my room when I got Bliss to the hospital. When I got to my room... I was greeted by a... friend..." Seth said. He was beginning to mentally panic, not wanting to expose all the truth. "She gave me some advice, then left again. That's when you showed up."

 

As he finished, he sat on the ground, a little farther away from the dragon.
