Seth wheeled himself with Night next to him down the halls of the castle. He had been rather silent, not for fearing Night, but just out of having nothing to say. He only mentioned to check the throne room to see if Bliss was there. As they approached the doors, Seth looked to Nights. "Ok, I'll go in first and see if I can calm her. Then when you walk in second, it shows we are in the same respect for each other." He said, giving a light smile.

 

Pushing open the door, he looked to see Bliss waiting for them. It was rather odd she wasn't doing anything, but it did not grab his attention. "Hey Bliss, I wanted to say something." He said, opening the door to let night in.

"Oh!" Bliss fluttered to them, immediatly darting to hug Seth first, "I've been so worried about you!!! When the guards didn't give me as much feed back! I was expecting the worst....and Night Lights didn't give me much details about your wellbeing-" She glared a sinnister, cheeky eye at her husband.

 

Nights was bewildered that she would hug Seth first and not himself...but felt it was only right since she was still angry at him...but what through him for a loop as that she glared at him so firmly...so sinister...it was unorthodox. He looked away from them, feeling like he was in a wrong place.

 

She continued to hug the wolf's neck tightly, stroking his ears in an amost affectionate way before finally pulling away, "ahem... Anyways," the fake Blissy fixed her mane and wings, "are the two of you getting along?"

 

"We're fine..." Nights growled abruptly at her. "Why don't I get on with my patrols then...if you two are busy..."

 

"Yes we are thanks to you!" She huffed at him, levitating him firmly against his flank towards the doors, "Since you're so busy with questioning my loyalties when I should be figuring out how to run this kingdom with Seth!"

 

"Bliss..." he glared at her, feeling sorry.

 

"Don't Bliss me! Go on now!" She shuued him out the door, slamming it behind him. He stared at it for a second...a spark heat of rage billowed under him.

 

"He wouldn't do anything...he's not a threat to my mate..." he told himself as he got back to his patrol.

At the sudden grasp of Bliss, Seth's mind went on overload with questions and information. He just stood there, his mouth open. after Night being shoved out, Seth turned to Bliss. "...Umm...  hi?" He finally managed to say after some time. "Bliss...? Um... Umm... what's going on?" He asked, questioning everything.

The fake bliss grinned at her opprotunity knowing now that Seth was alone with her/him, more seeds could be planted.

 

"I'm so sorry for the abruptness..." she replied back guiltingly, "It's just..."

 

She turned and walked away, her head held down and tail tucked as she made her way back to the throne...a tear dripping from her eye.

 

"It's just..." she stomped her hoof on the floor, "Night Lights has been putting so much pressure on me lately...on you... that...I just GAH! I want to explode you know?" She turned ot him then, sitting down on the floor just in front of the throne, "I feel like I have nopony to talk to anymore...Every time I see him it's the same thing... 'what have you been doing with Seth? What have you been doing with him today? Did he speak with you? What are you two up to!' it's always the same! And I JUST!"

 

She began to sob prefusely then...curling up and hiding under her large ears and wings, "I'm misserable when I'm around him Seth... I don't know who else to turn to... I can't...I can't go on like this..."

Seth looked at the sobbing mare. His mind was still filled with a lot of random questions, but they were being suppress by the sight of the helpless mare that was his friend. He slowly walked over to her, his face expressing something of sadness as well as reassurance.He sat next to the mare, placing a paw on her back.

 

"It's ok... he's just under a lot of stress as the rest of us are. Whenever one person gets too stressed, they can just pop." Seth comforted.

 

The fake Bliss looked up from her little sanctuary of ears, tears still in her eyes.She then smiled up at the wolf. It disappeared, returning to that of sorrow. "I... I just don't see why he has to always assume I'm always disloyal to him. He really has been pushing it beyond proportions. He has even to have gone far enough as to spread lies about us." She explained, breaking down into more tears.

 

Seth, feeling much guilt about the situation, grabs Bliss in a hug, trying to comfort the mare. For an odd reason, he needed to be with her more than ever. "Bliss, it will be ok... I wish things were better for the two of you. I feel responsible for all of this."

 

"Don't!" She said, moving into the hug herself. "It's all Night and his jealousy and dragon greed. He holds me like a prize. Like all dragons, he likes to keep his physical treasure close and doesn't like to share." She seemed more angry than anything else now. "He always wants me to be with him... beyond that of husbandry, but as a trophy to others. He never trusts me. Not like you. You trust me, right?" As she spoke, her horn had produced an aura of green light. It was oblivious to the wolf, as it dulled his mind to anything other than Bliss.

 

"Of course I trust you Bliss. I trust you with my life. You saved mine countless times over..." He was interrupted when Lighting placed a hoof on his lips.

 

"I know I saved you... but do you have feelings for me? Feelings of trust that only you wolves have tucked away only for one other?" She asked, her eyes looking with compassion.

 

"I..." He was scilent, stunned.

 

"I'll be in the dining halls if you have an answer..." She said, nearly in tears again. As she walked out, Seth couldn't help but want to go after her and proclaim a newly found love. However, there was no such love.... was there. For once, Seth had been feeling a... need to fill... was this love? With slight hesitation, he began to walk towards the halls. Wanting to say what he felt to the mare.

Nights was flying around in circles on his patrol, not at all getting a clear head as he tried. "She litterally swept me out of the room! Like it was nothing!" He snarled out as he continued to fly around, his rage was building and building.

 

-- Kitchen --

 

Meanwhile the real Lightning Bliss was fixing herself a heaping portion of food, she was starved more then she realized. "Maybe I'll make something for Nights too... I'm sure there's some...gah...bacon or meat around here somewhere. They saved rations for Seth after all." She began to search a freezer that seemed distant from the other five freezers and fridges and sure enough was able to find the meat locker. She gently levitated out a large piece of ham to the best of her ability to place on the skillet to heat up...when a certain flutter buzzed by her head again, making her ears perk up more.

 

"What in the name of Celestia was that?" She turned and looked around, but saw nopony around, "I could have sworn...felt like somepony flew across my head..."

 

He had buzzed righ over head having waited for her to appear in the kitchen. The second changeling was in the midst of his scheming along with his comrade dealing with Seth Eclipse. But he was too close...and needed to emerge without it being out of order. He flew over her head and darted out the doors before the alicorn mare even knew he was there, to his best ability anyway. He then...took the shape of her beloved Night Lights, and grinned sinsterly before changing it to one of rage as he pushed the doors open...

 

"Lightning Bliss..." Snarled the fake Nights.

 

"Oh hey you," she made a weary soft smile to him, "something buzzed passed my head and... Oh nevermind, I'm glad you're here...I'm making you some ham, since I'm starving and after last night..." She paushed a second and held back a tear, "i've missed you so much..." She turned to him then and trotted up to embrace him, only to her surprise, he held her back.

 

"Really, you've missed me?" He growled at her firmly, "far as I could tell you were missing Seth Eclipse more then me..."

 

"That's not true Nights!" She pleaded as he pushed her aside to examine the ham she was cooking, "Ok it's true I'm worried about how he's doing but...After how we've been acting wtih each other...that I've not seen you...I just..."

 

"You just couldn't wait to be rid of me," he finished her. "It's understanable... I should have seen it coming really."

 

"What are you talking about?" She tried to place a hoof on his shoulder but he shrugged it off, "Nights-"

 

"He's a Prince and you're his Princess now, what good is the Guardian of the Alicorn of Peace worth anymore?" He then proceeded to buck the ham off the skillet, it was sent smashing against the wall, "You better go to him, before I roast him alive..."

 

"Night Lights!" She grabbed him by the neck and held him closely, "I don't know what you're talking about, but I promised myself to you and only to you! I'm your wife! I love you...Please...don't push me away!"

 

He unlocked her hooves and shrugged her to the side firmly before heading out the doors, "You don't know what love is..." he snarled at her as he headed out, "that power remains with Princess Cadence...And you are NO Cadence...I'm leaving... I can't stand to look at you..."

 

She fell to her rump as he left her alone in the kitchen...her eyes dripping with tears, her eyes swollen...her food all on the floor from his outburst... She couldn't begin to describe the feeling in her hear...But if she could, it would best be a void...that was ripped from her...by his horrid words...And yet all she could do...was think about him, her love for him...and how she didn't want to give up. She rose to her hooves weakly and walked out of the kitchen, heading towards the hall.

He/she saw the signal from his comrade, and quickly transformed from Lightning Bliss. into a guard before the wolf Seth knew where the Lightning Bliss was, but the plan was going well... The real Lightning Bliss was drowning in grief for her lover...and Seth had feelings for her...the puzzle was coming together. He watched as Seth turned the corner and began to head to the hallway where Princess Bliss was waiting, grinning as the wolf was out of ear shot.

 

"Yes Seth Eclipse...go to your Princess...and enrage the dragon who protects her..."

Seth gave a nod to the the guard as he passed him on the way to see Bliss. Seeing her crying again only made his... possible longing for her worse. He ran up to her, saddened about her expression. He ran over to her, draping an arm over her. He hadn't expected this from the potential expression of love from earlier. Holding her close, he said. "Bliss, are you ok? I know Night holds you as his trophy... but you are not that. You are a bright, beautiful, talented mare that he will never see. You deserve better than to be stuffed away in a cave with all his other treasures. You deserve more than a greedy dragon. You deserve a loyal companion who treats you as an equal if not higher. A companion who will trust you to the ends of this earth. A companion who would lay down his life if needed. What I'm getting at is... I love you Lightning Bliss."

She sobbed deeply, feeling some relief that Seth somehow seemed to arrive on que that she needed a good friend to hold her after the horror Nights just said to her...Then he said "You deserve more than a greedy dragon. You deserve a loyal companion who treats you as an equal if not higher. A companion who will trust you to the ends of this earth. A companion who would lay down his life if needed. What I'm getting at is... I love you Lightning Bliss." And she pulled away from him...

 

"W-what? Seth?" She backed away from him in dismay, "but...but...But I'm married...Seth... I'm married to... Night Lights..." She turned from him, her wings out trying to hide herself from him, "I don't know why you feel this way for me...or why Night's is acting the way he is but...but..." She looked at him then, his eyes seemed entranced by her... "Seth please...don't..." she backed away slowly...

 

-- Outside --

 

He had enough with the patrolling and the sudden shuuing out of the throne room. He had been away from Bliss long enough and he needed to tell her what needed to be said about Seth...his behavior, his condition, it couldn't be hidden from Bliss anymore, she had the right to know. He nodded to himself and made a beeline for the castle doors.

Seth backed away from Bliss, hurt by what she had said. A minute ago, she was basically wanting to be engaged on the spot, now she... she questioned why he would dare say such a thing. He looked at her with a very hurt expression. "Bliss... he... I... I'm sorry if this is sudden, but... I don't want to see you hurt by Night. You said it yourself that he holds on to you and doesn't trust you as one should... I... I just want to make you happy Blissy..." He said, poring all his emotional love in to this.

 

As he did, the doors of the kitchen opened to reveal Night Lights. Seth turned to glare at the dragon. "You don't deserve her... you never did!"

 

 

 

Just out of sight in the dining hall's tall ceiling, two changelings stood there, watching the events unfold. One had his horn lit, influencing Seth's desire for Bliss. "Let the games begin..." He said with a slight joy in his voice.

 

"And let the era of the ponies end...' the other added.

Night Lights eyes went wide...a internal instinct surged through his stomach...up his throat...forcing him to tilt his head up to release the firey rage wtihin him....The wolf was with his mate...He would not stand to be challenged...

 

 

"Night Lights!!!" She galloped to him, "stop please! It wasn't his fault! He's confused! He was just trying to help me!!!" She pleaded for Seth's life and mercy.

 

He shoved her out of the way, stomping his hooves towards the growling wolf before turning to her, "he wants you for his own? Then he needs to defeat me to do so!" HE snarled, smoke coming from his nose... "I CHALLENGE YOU FOR MY HAREM SETH ECLIPSE!!! PREPARE FOR DRAGONAIR!!!"

 

He roared out again, rearing up as he went as he began to focus his magic to transform his body.

 

"NO NIGHT LIGHTS PLEASE!!!" She galloped towads him, trying to stop him, but his transformation, influenced by his rage, threw her back against the wall, making her smack her head hard...a gash on the back that started bleeding...she was concious but dizzy...trying to make sense of the fight that was about to unfold.

 

In a blast of blue light, he transformed, turning from his smaller pegasus form, to a large black wolf almost two feet taller then Seth...with two tails, one red and one blue...His eyes were flamed red...smoke still billowed from his mouth. He snarled in wolf tongue, growling, foaming at his mouth.

"I'm not want to destroy my enemy without a fair fight Seth..." the Nights wolf growled at Seth, "So...I will fight you on your body terms... I won't hold back my fire or strength...Prove your worth if you think you can take her from me!" He stretched his paws out, flexing his new found claws, his fangs dripping to sink into enemy wolf fur...

 

She sunk down against the wall as she tried to focus her eyes...but she was seeing double black would to double gray wolf...She reached her hoof towards them both...trying to speak but couldn't...It was as if her love for them both...was influencing her powers being drained...Then suddenly she realized it...Above the rafters of the great hall...she could see two changeling ponies...using their horns to suck her energy from her...The love she had for both Seth and Nights...their safety...they were feeding off it...and making her weaker..."No..." she pleaded...but no pony could hear her.

Seth did not cower to the threat at hand, it only enraged him more. He too began to growl and bark out at his enemy. "You soy you are worthy of your wife!? She has been through more hell than you can ever imagine and only dreams of being there for the ones who love her. Now when she wants to see and old friend you lash out and accuse her of breaking the loyalty she has held deep to. You hold her as another piece of your dragon treasure! You even stuff her away in a cave where she is only with you! Now fall, like all greedy cowards must!"

 

With his speak finished, he leap at the wolf, knowing an impostor of the wolven blood would fall to a high alpha.

His honor to defend his mate was pure...his fire strong... As Seth leapt to the first attack he was ready for him...Hundreds of ears of fighting other dragons to protect his territory was deep within...But this wasn't about treasure...this was about defending his mare...his mate...his love...that he knew she still loved him...

 

"FOOL!!! YOU BRING THIS UPON YOURSELF!!" He suddenly brust forth his fire, burning Seth's eyes and blinding him from his true movements. As Seth was caught off guard by the burst of hot flames, he darted to the right and leapt at him as he landed, grabbing him by his back and lifted him off his feet, proceeding to shake him like a rag doll. After several violent shakes, he tossed him against a pillar, snarling with pride.

 

"She's more treasurable then you can ever imagine...nor will ever get the chance to know wolf..." He approached Seth slowly... "she went through all terrors and darkness unknown to become my mate...As I did for her... You know nothing of the trails we've faced together... You honestly think she'd give that up to be with a pup like YOU??!!! YOU DISHONOR HER NAME!!" He howled and charged at Seth full blown.

When his body was thrown against the pillar, it cracked with the force of his throw. With his coat slightly burned from the attack, Seth stood as if he hadn't been touched. His face was burned, but he only snarled at the impostor wolf with pure rage.

 

"You call a wolf dishonorable?! You dare go against one of the most horonred races and accuse them of such a claim? Then you dare say you are worthy of the mare you threw against a wall like the object you have always kept her as? I have lived through a thousand years of hell to be at this moment of peace in my life. I have had to see my brother die in my very arms! Do you really expect me to believe you when you say you are an honored being?" Slowly stepping closer to his enemy, he then dashed up to him and grabbed him around the  neck with his teeth. If this fool thought him superior to Seth, he was sadly mistaken.

He howled in pain and lurched back as he felt Seth's fangs sink in...this only seemed to boil his dragon instinct to fight even harder. Without a second thought on the pain, he forced himself forward, with Seth still attatched to his neck and violently thrashed him off, throwing him down on the ground once more...then leapt up into the air and crashed on top of him, pinning him with his massive paws.

 

"You know nothing of dragon honor pup..." he snarled, plotting his time, "when a dragon chooses a mate...they are mates for life...Dragons try to steal each others mates...that dragon must defend his mate...She doesn't want to be with you...She saw you as a friend...maybe a brother...AND NOTHING MORE!!! But here you are...trying to steal her from me??!!! YOU DESERVE THIS AHHHHH" He suddenly sunk his fangs into his throat and bit down in a chock hold.

 

She desperatly tried to stand...she could see the green aura sucking the energy out of her body as she tried..."Stop...stop it...look..." she fell over, trying to reach them.

 

-- Changelings --

 

"She's weak enough...we should just take the alicorn now..." hissed one of the changelings.

 

"No...she's still got fight in her...we have to make sure while those two idiots are distracted..."

Seth felt the teeth sink into his neck, but he had felt worse. What Volt had done to him was proof. Trying to breath, he growled at Night. He wan't going to let this freak win a dishonorable love. It broke the wolven code, and even pony morals if one thought about it.

 

"You.. call yourself worthy of her..." He said with much effort due to the grip. He looked over to see Bliss fall to the floor. "now... you kill me as your wife... died... what honor is that!" He spat.

The changelings dove down the second she was completely under. This was their one chance to get the mare while the bloodbath was nearly at it's apex.

"She..." he gripped tighter and dragged him up on his feet, holding him off the floor, "chose me long ago....You blinded fool...You only think your defending her love...when you're trying to destroy it...you..." Suddenly he sniffed the air, the foul smell of swampiness insulted his nostrious...But feeling the struggling paws of his enemy scratching at his neck, focused him back to the task, "I won't let you destroy our marriage wolf...I WON'T" He once again tossed Seth to the side, panting perfusely...of all the dragons he fought in his life...this wolf was making him put off more energy then he was ready for...

 

He wobbled to the side, feeling the achs and pains of Seth's previous blows...and heaved in more air...ready to blow fire on him...

 

"Stay...away..." Bliss pleaded at the changling soldiers as the gathered her up.

 

"We need to hurry...the queen will be expecting us at the check point!" The changlings hissed to each other.

Seth fell to the ground, his lungs burning. His neck was rather badly damaged. Not wanting to admit it, Night was more powerful with his size. However, as he looked up at the wolf, his mind seemed more clear. With the changelings distracted on Bliss, they broke their connection with Seth. He looked up to the dragon wolf, his mind opening up. His false feelings for Bliss were beginning to fall away. "Night.... I... I'm... sorry." He tried to say with the limited air. His head again tilted towards Bliss only to see the changelings tying her up and running out the doors.

Just as he was about to launch his breath on the near defeated wolf...he heard Seth's fading words of "i'm...sorry..." and noticed his gaze went from him, to behind him. Holding the fire in his mouth, he turned around just as he watched his mare being carried out by the swamp things he had just smelled earlier...

 

"Changlings..." his fire let loose behind him, he snarled and was about to chase after them...before stopping himself, and turned to Seth, helping him up, "Changlings Seth? Could they have been..." He lifted the injured wolf to his back, transforming into his pony form once more, "Seth...are you still with me?"

 

He listened intently to the wolf's muffled breathing...a whimper of pain express in his specices that made him ach with guilt...He looked to the door where the marenappers went, back to Seth, then back to the doors again. He knew he would need help to track down the changlings...they were shape shifters like he was...They could be anypony...and hide Blissy anywhere before they could find her...or worse...they could take her back to their hive...

 

"Seth...Please..." he pleaded with the wolf, his anger replaced with fear for his mate, "if you are still with me... I beg you..." He lowered the wolf gently to the floor again, bowing to him, "I need you're help...the Changlings...they have Blissy....They have...my wife..."

Seth felt relief for the battle being over, but he wished it never started. His neck was bleeding and his body was hurting from the throws. The blood had a slight rainbow look to it. "Well, sorry for what I said back there..." He moaned, trying to stand. Thankfully, he was a quick healer. Wincing at the imminence pain, he looked to the dragon. "I can smell them already from here... but I can barely run. If you can hold me up, I can guild you..." He said with some effort. From what he could smell, the changelings were already some distance away.

He nodded obiediently and pushed his head up underneath Seth then rolled him down onto his back before changing into a larger, faster animal to help them track the marenappers down, a large black bull with his trademark red and blue tail highlights. "I'll be a bull, it will help me to carry  you, I can still get through the halls and if there are any doors to run down...I'm more then capable...But so help me when we catch those filthy creatures...I won't be a bull for them..."

 

He snorted and stomped the ground, then in a mighty bull grunt, ran down the doors and follwed suit where he think the Changelings went.

 

Meanwhile the two black ponies were in guard forms, fooling everypony they passed by. When others would try to stop them, they simply said that 'Princess Bliss asked them to carry her to her room from exhaustion from her work.' and let them pass without a second thought. She had no means of struggling, or calling out for help, they had absorbed all her strength through her love of her husband and friends.

 With Seth atop Night, he ordered him down the corridors with ease. "I want to say that I didn't mean any of the stuff I said. I don't- Left!- know what got into me. You care for your wife and I should have honored that. Ok, Right, then strait to the Bliss's room!" He commanded. He could begin to hear the conversation of the changelings with his strong ears. "They... are... saying that they are taking Bliss to her room... They are royal guard!" He informed the bull.

 

When they got to the room, they found the doors busted in. Looking further in, the two saw a shattered window and three specs flying away. "No..."

"SHUT UP SETH," Nights snorted as the wolf tried to apolgize, "all that is behind us and the future ahead of us...And it's going to be a dark one not just for myself...or you...but the entire kingdom of Equestria if we DONT CATCH THOSE CHANGELINGS" He slammed into his and Bliss's room as Seth directed, spotting the specks flying outward towards the horizon.

 

"Oh no indeed..." Nights snarled...and before Seth could predict his moves...he transformed in the middle of the bedroom, destroying its interior while covering Seth with his dragon wings as he burst forth from the castle, taking off directly after the changlings. "Think they can escape a dragon by flight? THINK AGAIN!" He roared out and darted forward quickly gaining speed with Seth clinging to his spines.

"Wait... Night!" Seth yelled, before feeling the wind rush past him. He clingged to the spines of the dragon as he held on for dear life. "Night, did I mention I hate flying?" He yelled. As they began to gain on the changelings, Seth could make out the body of Bliss on the back of the lead changeling. Crisalis. 

 

"How exactly are we going to force her down without getting Bliss hurt?" Seth asked, trying to think of an idea himself. "I have one idea... but it might not end well..."

Nights too was thinking about catching up with the changlings, even breathing fire...but he couldn't without risking his wife. He snarled realizing he hadn't thought all this through, thourghly and glanced at the wolf who was clearly terrorfied of the rough ride.

 

"I'm open to any suggestions otherwise I"ll just try to cut them off and snatch them in mid air if I can...But will require alot of speed. And from teh looks of you..." he grinned a bit, "I dont' think you're up for a vertical dive down."

Seth gulped for a second. "Well... I used to be a para-wolf. After an incident involving my brother, I never did like the sky." He called. "I... do have an idea. If I were to dive off of your back and on to Crisalis's, I could free Bliss and you can catch her. the problem is... I would have to ride that bug all the way to earth." He said, gulping again. "I am willing to do so, if it's needed."
