Lights dimmed as a towering stallion entered a moderately sized room. He saw his reflections glance back at him as he looked around the reflective room. Its design was rather modern with the nearly invisible sources of light high up in the ceiling. Then he took another step forward to the console overseeing eight containment pods. His hoof an inch from the screen, then he looked up at the enclosed pods before confirming the action.

Eight great hisses as the pods unlocked themselves, freeing their captives from their bone-chilling prisons. Each one of them had been brought here for a mission that he considered to be important, though the ponies themselves to him, they weren’t even noteworthy. In fact, he never really understood why the Republic had given the order to gather such diverse team, whose effectiveness may not even be above ten percent.

Outside, a team of guards awaited the individuals and the stallion. Their purpose was to guide the eight individuals to the meeting room where they will be debriefed of their purpose. That was of course if the eight ponies weren’t already informed, though the stallion was sure they weren’t as the files the Republic had sent hadn't inform him of such things. Even if they were informed and knew of their purpose, the stallion didn’t really care. If they know it, he’ll repeat it to make sure it is stapled into their mind.

The guards standing behind the glass panels facing the eight pods and the stallion waited. Their cold-blue visors watching, reflecting only the room and revealing not a single recognizable face. They waited as the lights reflected off of their black-metallic armor. They waited as their rifles were at their sides, ready to fire at a minute’s notice. They didn’t breath or move a single inch; they were stones, and they were professionals at heart and mind.

Then, there was a single officer positioned next to the guards, his blue uniform (the standard uniform an officer would wear in the Republic,) neat and symmetrical. Even though his fur was visible to the naked-eye, his posture and emotions were similar to that of the guards. Cold-hearted eyes staring through the glass panels and at the pods and the single stallion. The guards and himself, they were there to insure that the ponies don’t rebel against their new purpose for the Republic.

Irony was not lost to the guards, the officer, or the stallion of course. They all knew how ironic this was for the Republic. But at times especially like the situation at current, rights must be sacrificed for the state. It is at times that rights must be sacrificed for the betterment of others. To them, the lost of few meant little to the loss of millions if not billions.

And they waited for the first sign of the living. Their visors watching carefully. The naked eyes traced over, blinking slowly. The stallion watched as he readied his introduction. Ten seconds had passed since the opening. The inhabitants should be awakening soon, the average time for ponies to awake up is thirty seconds. They should be awake in twenty.

Hazmat awoke in fifteen seconds. He stayed still. Soon, one eyes was barely open to examine the room. There were a few ponies in armor. Okay. Guns aiming at them. Not okay. He looks next to him to see the others passed out near him.

For some reason he doesn't remember much of his past. Only his vanadium blood, eyes, and inner wings were the only thing he could remember. The rest was hazy.

The stallion approached the pods, his eyes carefully inspecting the ponies before tapping a small metal rod on two of the pods. One of them was a mare, the other was a pegasus stallion. Then the stallion turned around as two guards approached the pods, their visors peering down at the inhabitants. They held their batons with their magic as the officer approached.

"Get the two that are awake out of the pods," the officer simply stated as he watched the guards unlock the pods completely.

Hazmat still acted as if asleep. He dared not to move. That would make things worse if he did. In his mind at least. He waited until the guards opened up the pod. This was gonna be interesting. He was wondering if his life was gonna change. Hell, it already did once captured.

Midnight's eyes flew open. He was still for a moment, then bent forward. Smacking his head into the side of something.

"Ow! Dam-" he immediately shut up as he noticed that he was in a freezing pod. He then noticed that there were a few guards across the room aiming guns at him. "Um... hello, gentlecolts...?"

Gentle Secret opened her eyes slowly,  feeling the cold-frost melting off her fur at an alarming rate. Then she felt a great hiss as she was gently ejected from the pod. Shivering as her body quickly began producing heat, she felt a blanket hug her form from one of the guards. Gentle Secret watched, still shivering as the guards opened the pods where they believe the inhabitants were awake.

"Good day," a monotone voice spoke as she looked to see a grand stallion speak before taking a few steps back. In a blink of an eye, a guard was behind her, preventing her from moving as the stallion examine her before nodding. Then she was forcefully pushed by the same guard forward. Gentle Secret followed along, weak and cold. The room didn't help with its near-freezing levels.

----

The stallion watched as the rest of the pods opened up, ready to eject their captives out into the room.

Atlas's head throbbed a bit. He could feel the cold floor on his skin.

"Ugh..." He slowly opened his eyes. "Now what?" He instantly check his side for his pistol. No dice. At least his fez was still in place.

"You know that's no way to treat a guest" he muttered as he rose to his feet. "And what did I do to land myself here and where are is my equipment?" This probably wasn't the best place to ask but he was a bit annoyed.

The officer watched as one of the ponies got up. Then he approached the stallion, his baton secured to his side with a guard following him. Then he stopped a feet away from Atlas before speaking, "Good day," his eyes were dead when he said that. Then the officer continued on, "I am glad you are awake," his voice hinted no warmth.

"It would be the best if you follow this lad if you will," the officer continued without waiting for any response, he had his orders and as long as the stallion understood what he is saying, there was no need for formalities or letting the other party speak. Then the officer simply motioned to the guard that was waiting patiently.

@@Demirari,

Midnight flew out of his pod and landed face down on the ground. He jumped to his feet and carefully looked around.

"Where is my coat?" He asked, shivering. "Cryogenic freezing pods reach EXTREMELY cold temperatures as you obviously know..."

He then looked over to his left where a pony was rising to his feet.

Atlas huffed at the officer. "No wonder they call you a bunch of goons. Brighten up a bit. Don't look so depressing. I've seen grave robbers more cheerful than you. And you did that then you wouldn't need a these guards. Ponies might actually want to do as you say" He was enough He began to follow the guard "Hopefully your CO or whoever you're taking me to has a personality" He had gone a bit farther. Oh and get some color in this place. Awful boring"

Midnight shrugged as he casually casted a spell to create a warm coat for himself. To his surprise, however, nothing happened. He tried again. Nothing.

"What did you do to my-" he paused as he noticed the layer of ice formed around his horn. "Oh, great! It's frozen! Wait, how is that even possible...?"

@@,

The officer ignored him as the guard led the stallion away to the meeting room. The officer's professionalism didn't shatter as he moved along toward the unicorn. Then he tapped his baton against the horn, "Lad, no magic around here for now, now go and follow the guard over there." The officer simply pointed at the retreating guard that was leading the stallion away.

----

Gentle Secret felt warmth return as her body stabilized itself with her body temperature rising. Then she blinked as the door the door creaked open to find a guard entering in.

----

The meeting room was fairly simple with an oval-shaped table in the middle and masses of chairs. Besides that one large object of interest, the room itself was rather bland. That was of course, discounting four pots of small bio-engineered plants nestling in each corner of the room. It was a small gesture of style, but it was still a weak and useless attempt.

"Well, then. Let's see how earth ponies live for a bit." Midnight nodded at the guard and galloped to catch up with the two. "Hey. I'm following you, yes?" He said to the guard. He then looked at the stallion walking with him. "Hi, I'm Midnight. A fellow pony-popsicle. You are...?"

Once Hazmat fell to the floor, he got up. In fact, he got up a bit too quickly. His vision blurrednand his head throbbed. He lifts a hoof to his head, trying to ease the dizziness from the quick get up. Since the others were doing and didn't get beat up, it was probably safe then. He looks to the guards and then to the pony that spoke. He stayed silent.

"Huh?" Atlas turned to see a pony with him. "I'm Atlas. At least somepony here has a voice besides mister dead inside over there" He said referring to the officer. "Good to meet you Midnight. You got any idea why we're here?" Atlas looked a bit annoyed and calm like this was his daily routine.

@,

The stallion looked at the pegasus that got up, inspecting him before nodding his head. Turning his head around for a brief moment, ordering a guard to move forward, he spoke, "Good day, follow the guard, and he will lead you to your destination." Then he moved along, inspecting the other pods.

The guard waited as with his baton still strapped to his back, there was no movement as he waited for the pegasus to start moving.

@,@,

The guard ignored the two speaking as he lead them to the destination. Noting that a fellow guard was holding the door, there was a small brief moment of nodding as the guard stopped and turned around, "Take a seat, the meeting will be starting shortly." Then the same guard moved back to where the pods were at.

"No idea. From what everything looks like, however, I don't think we are in the same time period as when we were put in there. Its clear that somepony wanted us alive and capable after some event that occurred." Midnight shivered again. "Those pods were at least 40 degrees cooler than needed. I can't even use magic right now to get myself a coat..." Midnight said. He stopped and observed the room for a second, and then sat down. "Nice chairs at least."

Hazmat watches the stallion speak to him. Then, looks to the guard. 'Do nozing stewpid.' Hazmat thought to himself. 'Follow ze orders, und you'll be fine.' He walks up to guard. Showing he's ready to follow him. Celestia this better not be a tormenting thing. He hates anything that has to do with sharp objects.

Atlas sat down at one of the seats still with an annoyed look. Whoever came in this room was going to get the full force of an annoyed pegasus with a few words for him. He wanted his guns, gear, and to be shown the exit and he planned to get it. You could practically see fumes coming off him from his growing annoyance. It didn't help he was in a bit off pain from his bad leg. He didn't care if he would get clubbed by some guard as long as he was sent on his way.

@,

The guard nodded before started walking toward the destination he was assigned to bring the pegasus to. His movements were quick, but not of eagerness or nervousness, it was pure professionalism. A trait that was very common with the guards that were either escorting the captives or opening the pods. They may move in a way that may suggest emotions that an average pony may have, they showed none in their movement or voice.

@, @,

A single guard stood near the door preventing any escape, if they were thinking of such things. The guard watched the ponies in silence while at times giving a greeting nod to his fellow guards. Besides such basic actions, the guard was rather calm with his rifle lowered down.

----

Gentle Secret looked up from the table at the newcomers. Holding the blanket close to heat up her body, she spoke with her voice weak, "I'm guessing none of you two know what is going on?"

Gentle Secret was in the best description absolutely confused with the current situation. It was especially supporters by the fact that there was a strange symbol proudly etched onto the high-quality table. The guards and the two officers didn't help it either. The only conclusion that Gentle Secret could think of was: military base?

Midnight looked up at the mare. "Not at all. Midnight Comet, pleasure." He said. "Looks like those pods really did a number on you. I think we've been in there for quite a while." He noted, staring at the symbol on the table. "Huh." He then turned to the annoyed Pegasus, who seemed to be steaming up from his anger. "Need something?" Midnight asked.

Hazmat just walked... normally. He watches the guard do his fancy thing (which he was semi-impressed.) and Hazmat thought he was showing off a bit. That guard was silent though. That's good. He didn't want to talk. His mind was already racing with much thought anyway. Where is he going? Why do they want him?

The same question that most ponies asks, but, will soon be answered.

"Y-yeah," Gentle Secret replied, clutching her blanket closer to her as she shivered. The room temperature didn't help either, being a cool 60 degrees, though being 15 degrees higher right now would be splendid to her.

----

"Take a seat anywhere," the guard spoke as he lead the pegasus to the room before briefly nodding to his fellow guard and departing back to the pod room. It was systematic as none of the guards or the officers expressed more than the basic communication skills required.

Hazmat looks at the guard for a moment, then takes a seat. This was strange. At least they didn't do anything bad yet. But. Isn't taking a seat bad? In a room where there can be endless possibilities? His mind was racing with bad thoughts again. He was still remaining silent unless he had to speak.

Midnight's horn glowed faintly as he strained to cast a spell. It quickly died out, and he groaned. "Wow, they really did disable all magic in here. I guess I can't make it warmer..." He frowned. "Sorry. Should we ask some guards to get you another blanket or two?" He asked, looking at the pony by the door.

He then looked at the pony sitting down. "Hey, do you have any idea what's going on here?"
