A few questions about this *spoilers*.

I watched it not to long ago and there are a few things that I don't get:

 

1. Why does Twilight seem so confused about her being in human form for such a significant part of the show? I get that she would take some time getting used to her new body, but for instance there are quite a few gags with her using her mouth instead of her hands, yet when you look at Spike as a dragon with hands and how even the pony's pick things up with their hooves and considering how smart/intellectual Twilight is I felt as if Twilight was made "dumber" for the sake of the plot.

 

2. When Twilight is talking to Principal Celestia why doesn't she come right out and say it is hers? Especially when there is a short time window.

 

3. We see a human Celestia yet (far as I can remember) no human mayor mayor. So if Celestia is a principal in the human world then does that mean mayor is the mayor of the human city? Making her outrank Celestia? (mind blown).

 

4. Why doesn't Twilight ask to stay with one of the others rather than sleep in the library?

 

5. Other than plot, is there really any good reason why Twilight doesn't simply take the crown back? It's not stealing if you are just taking back what is yours in the first place.

Because plot contrivance. There are no real logical reasons that those events transpired as they did, other than to further the plot of the movie, and add in a couple scenes/gags. They had her stay in the library because "lol she lives in one in ponyville". And because if she just took the crown back, there would be no movie to sell their dolls.

I'd have to say that they left a lot of questions unanswered, that could have been answered but instead they pull the plot contrivance card to speed things up.

Oh, a few other things: Near the end SS threatens to destroy the mirror thing back to Equestria with a sledge hammer, yet considering the portal was still open wouldn't it just go straight through the mirror? And I really don't get SS plan. She was going to use an army of teenagers to take over Equestria? Yet considering how much trouble Twilight had adjusting to a human body imagine all the teens getting used to pony bodies. Not to mention the other princess' and guards were there. We also establish that magic doesn't work in that world yet her element clearly works?

 

When it was found out that SS had faked the photos of Twilight destroying the gym, why wasn't SS punished for it? Also, why did the element even work if it has been established that you need the other elements to work in tandem? When Twilight put the crown on she didn't transform or gain any powers.

1 answered: Twilight is used to using her magic, hooves, and mouth. She could quite possibly be confused that she has fingers on her... human hooves, or hands, as we would call them, and does not know how to use them or that they are used for picking things up. Maybe she did not observe Spike's dragon-hands as much when she was a pony, because she thought the knowledge of how they work would be insignificant. Twilight does not know anything about humans before she enters the alternate universe, so, in theory, she would not know how to use any of her human parts as we use them right away. Thus, she must observe others throughout the movie and learn how to be like them. She cannot observe people typing at first because there are no computers, and thus she does not grasp typing right away. She cannot observe people sleeping because that would be creepy and scare small children, and thus she does not sleep normally. Et cetera.

 

2 answered: Principal Celestia does not know about the alternate universe that Twilight came from, and thus would not believe her if she said it was hers, as Celestia would believe she had obtained it through other measures, such as buying it or receiving it from a student(quite possibly being Sunset Shimmer).

 

3 answered: Mayor Mayor would most likely be a teacher.

 

4 answered: One theory could be that Twilight does not want to embarrass herself among the others, as she has strange behavior in the opinion of the humans. She could also not know the others well enough or be scared of the others-- Pinkie Pie is a bit odd when she and Twilight meet, and some of the others may not seem as pleasant to her now that things have changed.

 

5 answered: The people in the human world do not know that it is hers and would most likely not believe her if she told them that she is actually a princess from a pony universe.

 

6 answered: I don't get it either. But like all humans, perhaps Sunset Shimmer creates plots with flaws. Just... more flaws than normal.

 

7 answered: Perhaps Sunset Shimmer was punished, but it was not shown in the movie. As for the second part of the question, perhaps Hasbro just decided that Twilight was too boss for rules anymore and were just like "SCREW IT IT'S ALMOST THE END OF THE MOVIE LET'S BREAK OUR OWN RULES LOL YOLO SWAG".

There are a lot of plot holes in this movie... It's still enjoyable to watch, but eh.

 

The ones about the crown only giving power when SS wears it and SS trying to smash an open door with a sledgehammer are my favorites.

 

Though for the sledgehammer one, SS did later say she was only bluffing, so maybe it's Twily's fault for believing one can smash air into unusable pieces with a large tool.

1: I'm really glad it was wrote that way..... Any other production company would have made it so she never even addresses the change in species ... It also makes for some good laughs and makes a lot on sence, so it works out well.
