Tug of War - Locomotive vs. Bulldozer

I've just been wondering, is all. Which do you think would win? Locomotives are heavier and larger generally, but have far less surface area to commit tractive effort compared to dozers.

I ask because I'm thinking about physics things these days...

Or perhaps a better matchup against a locomotive would be a tank, or a large aircraft (due to their massive thrust outputs)?

Let's assume the attachments between them is invincible.

(Based on Google)

An average bulldozer weighs about 35 - 50 tons. An freight train car weighs between 30 tons (empty) and over 130 tons (full).

Considering a freight locomotive can pull dozens of train cars empty, I don't think the bulldozer's traction would prove much of an advantage. Especially when you consider where the rope (which would have to have a breaking point in the hundreds of thousands of pounds) is tied - more likely it'd cause the bulldozer to tip backwards or lift up.

The Caterpillar D11R has a operating weight of 115 tons with a gross power of 935 HP.

It can probably pull a train off the tracks, especially a dozer with a elevated drive sprocket.

Locomotives usually weigh anywhere from 80 to 200 tons, but only about 1/4 of that goes into tractive effort because of how little surface area it was on the ground. Despite that, its not unusual for two locomotives coupled to pull excesses of 15000 tons.

Really? A GEVO locomotive weighs 210 tons with 4400 HP.  Add to that computerized wheel slip control.

the train might not have the traction to pull the bulldozer but the train might be too heavy for the dozer t pull it so neither really go anywhere XD

I don't know much about locomotives, is why I didn't really make the proper comparison.

Since you revived a long dead discussion, I suppose you have something in mind?

@Blue, this thread appears to be some manner of random (but strangely enjoyable) nonsense, or something spammy of the sort. Thus, it has been sentenced to the Forum Lounge section of Cloudsdale Colosseum. :)
