I think about the safer places we could go, figuring the safest I know of would have to be the Everfree Forest. "Sorry but the safest place from the guards would be the Everfree with Applejack. " I look at our small group and ask "Any better Ideas, because that may not be the best but it certainly is not the worst.?"

Twilight nodded as she placed the map away. "Aaron. You okay with carrying her?" "Of course. She's light as a feather. Even with her child." She nodded and looked at John. "We should get going. The sooner we get to the everfree, the better off we are. Hell, maybe we could get some rest. Maybe get her some food."

I chuckled, "Yea food and rest sounds wonderful right about now, so Twilight since you have a better Idea of where we are, so lead the way." I all in all just try to enjoy the little free time we currently have, because I doubt we will get it again for quite some time. I think of my home and my family and know I'm one step closer to seeing them agian.

The team of four began walking along the path back to the everfree with the rescued Fluttershy. In the distance Aaron could see female mares running out of the city into various directions. The guards chasing after them but it was all in vain. One fourth of his journey was now complete and they would go on to rescue the one called Rainbow Dash next. Where ever she is.

Like always I stayed back and watched our respective asses, when we arrived in the Everfree some time later I just pulled my combat knife out and made sure it was free of blood, once I was sure it was clean I sheathed it and continued on with everyone else keeping an eye out for changelings.

They arrived in the everfree a day or so later. Fluttershy had yet spoken a word or moved even an inch. Once inside, Twilight and John took a fighting stance as they entered. It would be another day before they reached Applejack and it would be a treacherous trek. And upon entering the everfree, Aaron began hearing the voices once again. "I missed you" They would say to him as he shook their head. Twilight led the way, using a torch she had fashioned.

I just scanned the area with Twilight fully ready for anything to pop up. The forest like the last time gave that generic creepy feel, like something was watching. I just gripped the knife tighter and continued on. Thoughts on the Minotaur I killed popped up and I just questioned how easy it was to kill him how I smiled all the while. Sure I was pissed and rightfully so but it just scared me that I could kill without mercy.

 

 

(sorry went grocery shopping with my dad.)

Twilight stopped in the middle of a clearing. Sighing as she sat down. "We'll make camp here. Aaron, can you make us some dinner. I think we all could use it. Even her." Aaron looks down at Flutterhsy and nods in agreement. Setting her down, he begins to set up a fire as Twilight beings something of her own. She was looking over the clearing and saw that the trees were too narrow for anypony to slip through. The only ways through was the road itself. "Alright, the place is secure. John, can you help me set up tents for us?"

When Twilight spoke it snapped me from my thoughts and after a moment I realized the question. "Yea, sure I can help." With that we went to setting up the tents but apparently there were only two, Twilight explained that it was all she could get when she first got the tents. Thirty minutes later the tents were set up. all that was left was the sleeping arrangements.

Aaron sat Fluttershy on the ground, creating a bed for her with a blanket and another blanket for her naked body. Once he had a fire going he would make some soup for them, even though his ingredients were low. But he could get something good out regardless. twilight had gotten the tents that she and Aaron stole back in Manehattan suburbia. Twilight stood up and went over to the campfire. Once down she removed her prosthetic leg and began cleaning it.

I found a good smooth piece of flint for a sharpening stone for my knife, and cleaned the blood off my face and hands in a small river nearby, before also sitting next to the camp fire, and sharpening my knife taking my mind off of everything that has been going on and most importantly my first kill.

Aaron had the food ready for them to eat. It was a common potato soup with cabbage and carrots. He gave a bowl to John and Twilight and placed one in front of Fluttershy in case she wanted food. Even though she hasn't moved an inch from her bed. It was quiet, except for the sounds of the forest itself.

I decided to start some sort of conversation so I put my knife away and the flint in my pocket. "So Twilight who do we have to rescue next?"  I ate some of the soup as I waited for an answer, my mind still going back to my first kill, my problem was not that I regretted killing the Minotaur but the blood lust, and the fact I felt some part of me enjoyed burying the knife in my victims neck and watching the light go out from his eyes. My ultimate worry was that I could loose control.

Twilight looked up to John and took one more bite. "Our next target is Rainbow Dash. When Tirek Took power, she brought together her own underground resistence until it became the biggest opposing force in the land. However, Tirek captured her and sent her to where all war criminals go. The Apploosan Gem Mines. I haven't heard much of her or the resistence until after today. Not since... The Crystal Empire." Twilight became silent and gulped down her soup and went to bed. "Good night Gentlemen. I'll see you tomorrow." Twilight picked up Fluttershy and took her into the "Girls Tent" and went to go to sleep.

"Goodnight Twilight," I replied before finishing my soup and entering Aaron and I's tent. I laid down and closed my eyes falling asleep soon after, my dreams were plagued with memories of killing the Minotaur while i wore a psychotic smile, what truly made it worse was the Minotaur was sometimes replaced by an image of Twilight, Aaron, Fluttershy, and Applejack. All the while I killed them feeling the almost sheer joy of the kill.

 

Eventually the area changed to the Everfree forest I was chasing a figure my knife in hand covered in blood, all I could tell was that it was a pony Mare. The thrill of the hunt rushed through me knowing my prey would only die tired, another kill , another victim to my blade. I later caught up to her when she tripped on a branch. I walked up to her and keeled down. "Please don't kill me." she cried out "After Tirek's defeat you hunted down and killed the rest of our friends, and saved me for last. Why!? What happened to you John? What turned you into this monster? What happened to the John that helped save Equestria?" I recognized the voice but could not recall it.

 

"That John died a long time ago Twilight." I turned her over to see her face and plunged my knife into her belly and watched as her life drained out of her, "I loved you John, I Loved you..." she whispered with a dying breath.

 

A voice then spoke, "This is what you'll become, this is your destiny, one of a fallen hero."

 

I suddenly woke up, my breath fast and shallow, an I was drenched in a cold sweat. I got up and walked outside breathing in the cool night air. Eventually I went  back to sleep but this time thought of Nightmare Moon before hand. Not wanting to go through the nightmare again tonight.

John was now drifting in a void. Only he was visible in the large patch of white nothingness. "Hello. I didn't expect to be seeing you again?" Behind him was Nightmare Moon sitting in a small wooden chair in a bathrobe. "That was some nightmare you had, though honestly, I could do much better." She closed a book she was reading and sat it down. "So, what can I do for you?"

"I'm sure you could, but It was not the nightmare itself as much as the implications of the nightmare, it just reminded me how easily I can loose myself to another part of me. Something I realized after Twilight teleported us out of the city. I could indeed become the very monster i'm trying to destroy. The nightmare was a reminder from my own mind, and its message frightens me." I breathed in. "Sorry I just needed to say that. But anyway, I hope to not offend you but I have one question. Are you another side of Luna or a possessive spirit? Like I said I don't mean to offend you."

Nightmare smiled her creepy grin. "I am, what I choose to be. I can be such a possession as you say, or maybe I was there from the start." Nightmare Moon vanished in a puff of black smoke and was now next to John, sitting in the chair still. "But I am still Luna in a sense. This killing instinct of yours is kind of the same. Whether it has always been there or has been introduced through your first kill is the same as my predicament. And the same goes for you my dear. None the less, I guess twilight has indeed summoned the most dangerous species in existence."

I was glad that she took no offence, and the grin did not creep me out as much as last time. Thinking on Nightmares words I smiled and nodded understanding. The killer instinct is there the details don't matter, but I can't let it control or define me. It is simply a tool a instinct, nothing more. "Thanks for that little explanation. But I'm sure you have your own questions about me or the like so please if you do tell me." 

[Mr. Critical 434]

"I admit I have some fascinations it you and the other human. Even those voices that speak to him in the forest. You two are pretty much the only things to peak my interests in a long while. Even more so since your little rescue mission for Fluttershy was a success. I tell you, I have never seen my husband so furious. He looked like his head was going to explode." Nightmare let out a short laugh. "But I have no questions for you as of yet. But do you have any for me? I would be more than happy to answer them. Just as long as you don't ask where the other elements are located. I wan't to see how you fair on your own."

"I have one last question for now. Why did you 'Marry' Tirek? I figure it is more then his good looks based on what you said about him last time." Anyone could tell that I was being sarcastic with the "Good Looks" quip. I smiled a bit at my own joke, enjoying this little talk.

Nightmare frowned upon the question. "It wasn't by choice. When Tirek took the castle, he learned of my past as the first time I was Nightmare Moon. And to spite Celestia, he changed me back to this form. Now, Luna will forever be the wicked Queen of the night. I am forced to be by his side and do his bidding along with High General Sombra. I'm absolutely bored with it to be honest. He barely speaks to me. Hell, he doesn't even touch me. I know I'm just his trophy, but even trophies get touched by their owners every so often." She said with disdain in her voice. "It matters not though. I know I am nothing but an abomination."

When Nightmare called herself an abomination, I suddenly realized why she contacted me the first time, it was not just because of how I intrigued her but she wanted someone to make her feel like she mattered, that she was more then a trophy to be shown off. "Nightmare your not an abomination. Your just a Mare that wants to matter to someone, to be more then a trophy or a tool to spite another." I walk up to her and give her a hug almost automatically. "Please don't downplay yourself by calling yourself an abomination."

The hug was foreign to her. She had known a gesture as such before in so long, that she nearly forgot about what positive contact was like. She slowly reached around to return it to John. "Thank you." She bit her lower lip and separated from John. "Thank you... you've done more for me than anyone else has in years. As such... I would like to reward you. While I cannot reveal any secrets of my husband or the location of one of the elements, I think I have something else you would like to see." She snapped her fingers as the void was soon after filled with a new setting. It was a library and sitting in a chair was Twilight. Her wings folded nicely and her prosthetic hoof was no more. She looked happy as she read her book. But something else happened. Down the stairs came a figure far too familiar to John. In fact, it was. He came down the stairs and happily kissed Twilight as she returned it. "This is the dream of Twilight Sparkle. She has been dreaming of you for quite a while now."

as I watched the dream I was surprised, I knew she saw me as a close friend and we had more physical contact then usual but I always pinned it being a pony thing I never thought that she felt something more then friendship. I thought about it and I myself knew I found her attractive and I liked her personality. That was one thing but full blown Love that was another ballpark altogether. I decided that I would continue to watch the dream and think on the whole relationship level later.

 

"Lets continue watching, I'll sort out my confused feeling a bit later. Still thanks for the gift."
