Anarchism
There's a bit of a stigma attached to the thought of anarchism. Even for me, the first thought that comes to mind is men killing each other in the streets, cars exploding, and cities burning to the ground.
What is anarchism? I like this definition: "The belief that all existing governmental authority should be abolished and replaced by free cooperation among individuals."
Ask yourself why we need government and see what answers you can come up with. I'd assume things like... people would kill each other, people would steal from each other, people would be taken advantage of. The question I would ask you next is would you kill anyone? steal from anyone? Take advantage of anyone? Is the law of the government the only thing preventing you from doing these things?
I see all the time threads saying things like "I wish I lived in equestria" and I see other threads saying things like "I wish the world was more like Equestria", and at the same time I'm reading posts saying things like "the world can't be more like equestria" or "I wish it could but it can't". And I can't help but laugh to myself and ask why not?
The worlds created in stories and shows and video games came from the human imagination. We are the very source of these ideas, they are reflections of our thoughts, and yet you have people claiming it's impossible for the world to be like Equestria where everyone gets along.
So what's this have to do with Anarchism? Well in a perfect world I imagine no government to be necessary. Everyone loves each other and wants to help each other out (I'll let you define "help" because I really don't want to go into that right now). A world where people don't need laws to help them do what is right. A perfect world is an Anarchist society - a world where people are free and trusted by their fellow man to chase after what they think is right because they are given the benefit of the doubt. And the key words here are "trust" and "benefit of the doubt", something lacking in the very premise of any government - as any government, by definition, seeks to control the actions of it's citizens through the threat of force.
The only reason (as far as I can tell) for anyone not to have hope for an anarchist society is because they do not trust or have faith in their fellow man, and I think that is a sad way to live.
So yeah I guess that's all I've got to say on the subject for now.
