Basically I have no interest in sports, especcially football, but everyone tries to tell me I'd be great.

This was a conversation

"Are you going out for football?"

"No, I don't like football at all."

"Not like football? What are you talking about?"

"I find it pointless and barbaric"

"Well, if your not going to play football, then what are you going to do? Wrestling?"

"No... I'm not doing any sport. I want to focus on my music, and sports will get in the way of that"

"How can you not like sports I mean {insert sports superstar I don't know}"

"hold up, hold up, Who?"

"You can't be serious"

"Actually I'm quite serious"

"Wow, your actually dumber then I thought..."

"Well, thank you for that, but I better be going"

" No, come on what sport are you doing"

"I'm not doing a sport now will you please leave me alone"

"Oh I see... you must be too weak to do anything other then watch tv and do your stupid computer, where is that going to get you?"

I start listing off careers that involve computers

"Well, If you don't do sports then your a loser..."

"Ok, cool I'm a loser, thank you"

Counter troll like a Fluttershy

Seriously it's like if you don't do a sport everyone freaks out. Well Indiana is a football state, so I can see why...

I find it funny that 'Merica's obesity rate is already very high, yet all the young people seem to really be into sports this generation. Of course, just because they love having to do with sports, doesn't mean they actually play sports :P.

Anyways, I don't play sports mostly because I'm not the most athletic and perfectly coordinated. Of course, I like to play some sports during P.E. for fun, mostly volleyball, badmitten (Whatever it's spelled), handball, whatever. All those minor sports just seem more fun to me, ESPECIALLY bowling. A lot of kids have also said that I should try out for football because I would be great for defense (Maybe back then, but now? I'm much skinnier now).

I think youth sports is going down a dark path. It's not about learning life lessons, getting exercise, and having fun being with friends and playing on a team anymore. It's becoming more about using sports to make money or get a scholarship. Parents are running their kids ragged in hopes they will become a mega star when a very small percentage of kids do make it big. Specialization has become a problem where kids' bodies are breaking down because they're training and practicing for the same sport every month of the year instead of taking a break and letting their bodies rest.

Your absolutely right. I used to be in wrestling... It was terrible, this one kid was convinced the only way to get to weight was to starve himself, all because his dad would've yelled at him. I know this because his dad was coach.

I was never into sports either, so I think can relate to ya... In my school, sports is EVERYTHING. It's like eating and breathing to them. In fact my school started to drop in ratings, so they escalated on sports rather then education. It's great when you get verbally attacked and put down if you serve wrong in Gym Volleyball. Seriously? GYM volleyball? It's almost as if doing a sport is essential to be classified a "human being" where I live. So what if I don't play a sport? I can be as productive on my computer writing songs then an average jock could be training for a game. I choose to do type words rather then throw balls because it suits me. It's my interest. It's what I devote my time into.

Sorry for being rather... dramatic. Heh. But you're right, people take sports WAY too far.

Wow, that sucks that there's so much pressure on you to do sports. Personally, I think PE as it currently is in schools is pretty horrible. Kids aren't divided by who is most/least athletic, so the ones who aren't athletic get made fun of by those who are. Not to mention, getting a C on the mile just because they can't run it fast enough :( PE for non-athletic types can really be a confidence destroyer (not to mention a GPA lowerer, which really agitated me and the Twilight Sparkle attitude I had as a kid).

At least no one ever put pressure on me to do a sport, but that might be because sports pressure is more commonly a guy problem. But stick to following your dreams and doing what makes you happy :)
