I get the feeling that Rarity will be disregarded again in Season Four

The reason is most likely because Rarity will only receive two of her own episodes this season. And, "For Whom the Sweetie Belle Toils" will mostly be a Sweetie Belle episode, despite her dealing with her sister, Rarity.

 

With the exception of Season One, Rarity kept receiving the least amount of love amongst her friends. In "Luna Eclipsed," for example, there was a scene where Rarity gave Princess Luna a variety of costumes to wear, but that was cut out due to time constraints. Then, in Season Three, "Spike At Your Service" was changed from a Rarity episode to an Applejack episode, because Rarity was too mean to Spike. Meanwhile, the episode "Games Ponies Play" outright writes Rarity out of the episode, as she works on Princess Cadence's mane off-screen, while most of the focus was on the rest of her friends. And now, we're only going to receive two Rarity episodes, plus a Sweetie Belle episode that will hardly qualify as a part-Rarity episode.

 

The "Nightmare Rarity" arc managed to, albeit unintentionally compensate for the lack of an S3 Rarity episode, because it revolved around her personal demons, how they turned her into Nightmare Rarity, and how her friends helped her conquer them to rescue her. But even then, the brony fanbase is split on this arc, half of them liking it, the other half disliking it. Plus, she was reduced to a damsel-in-distress, who was mainly kidnapped and possessed just for her own personal demons, and not just to strip the Elements of Harmony of one of their own.

 

And now, Rarity will only receive two episodes for S3, while Applejack receives five of her own episodes, and Pinkie, Rainbow, and Fluttershy receiving three each. The most recently announced episodes included a Rainbow Dash episode, and an episode titled "Trade Ya". This is why I'm getting the feeling that Rarity won't receive the same amount of love as her friends, and will be unintentionally disregarded again, like in Season Three.

 

But at the same time, I'm hoping that it doesn't turn out that way, and that one of the two unannounced penultimate episodes will be a Rarity episode, possibly one that has her date Spike. But even then, those hopes can easily be dashed, which is one of the reasons I hate surprises.

See, it's a pain in the ass when you have 6 protagonists. Rarity has gotten the less love throughout the entire series, I'm still wondering what happened to that assistant of hers.

Bu, er, sorry about Rarity. The mare really deserves more screentime, and she plays off her friends so dang well that I'd be incredibly disappointed if she doesn't get to at least split off with another Mane 6 member for an episode.

Rarity deserves more screentime, which is true. I'd be a bit disappointed if there wasn't a way to include Rarity in an episode with one of the Mane 6, a pony that she hasn't had an episode with.

I do think there's still hope, she has one episode with Sweetie Belle soon and there's supposed to be an episode with Sparity(unless that was meant to be for Simple Ways, which would suck) and leaves one more episode open(which I'm hoping is for her)

How will "For Whom the Sweetie Belle Tolls" be a Rarity episode if it mainly focuses on Sweetie Belle?

That may just be my endless pessimism speaking, but i don't think we can expect much more for Rarity this season. She and Applejack have always been second class ponies for the writers and the bulk of the fandom. And now that Applejack (finally) gets more love from both makes Rares even more of an outsider. But, well, she always has been, i have grown to grudgingly accept that.

 

I even doubt that she will play much of a role in the Sweetie Belle episode. I fear that the writers will even let her do something dickish to Sweetie, so that she has a excuse to destroy that dress Rarity made...

Don't feel bad about Rarity getting pushed aside again this season, Twilight only had three episodes so far and all were the first three episodes of the season, and two of them were directly related to each other so really she only has two episodes total this season. Unless I'm overthinking Princess Twilight Sparkle Parts 1 and 2 and their relationship.

When you look at the episode, "Somepony to Watch Over Me," that was as much an Applejack episode as it was a Sweetie Belle episode.

 

So surely, "For Whom the Sweetie Belle Toils" will be a part-Rarity episode as it will be a part-Sweetie Belle episode.
