I Think my Childhood Just Died

...or got crushed in a giant garbage compactor. Either works, really.

The other day I was made aware of this article. The Brave Little Toaster is getting a CGI remake, brought to you by the geniuses who created Alvin and the Chipmunks, Yogi Bear, and The Smurfs. Did I mention all three were heavily criticized pieces of crap?

So, yeah. Now they're going after a very personal childhood movie of mine, modernizing it and updating it with new electronics that kids will "understand". This goes against the entire friggin' point of the movie, so obviously someone didn't do any research at all.

Why do people do this? WHy can no one in the movie business understand that some things should just be left untouched?

So what, are they making "The Brave Little iPhone App"?

Seriously, Disney is going away from decent BS and capitalizing on the tech-savvy kids who still know what decent Disney is, and believing that gives them a bias. I mean, look at the difference.

A new Disney Princes... What the hell?

I'm the oldest of 16 cousins, and my little cousins love the new chipmunk movies etc. Remaking the movies gives today's children the chance to enjoy our old favourites, so it doesn't bother me that much. Just don't watch it.

I find it kinda odd that Disney is the first to be criticized over this.

From what I can tell Disney has little to do with this remake other than they sold the rights to the movie and that's it!

Actually Disney has been getting a lot of undeserved shit recently, like back when Disney bought Marvel and people thought it was the end of the world, but in my opinion Marvel movies have never been better and I can hardly see anywhere that Marvel's been harmed by the buyout.

Now Disney is getting the same treatment from fans since they bought the right to Star Wars, saying Disney will "ruin the franchise"... the irony in that statement is hilarious because it assumes the franchise isn't already ruined.

...

In this situation Disney has little to do with this movie getting a subpar remake. All they did is sell an old property that they have no plans on ever using and can you really fault them for that?

Actually if anything Disney has been surprising me of how much better they have gotten over the years. Pixar films are still good, but Disney's own 3D animations are getting pretty close to that Pixar quality. Their new cartoon Gravity Falls is nothing short of spectacular and might be one of the best cartoons in recent memory. The only thing I still see them being terrible at are kid sitcoms.

...

@@ping111, I'm curious to see what that image is exactly? It isn't showing up for me. I'm guessing its some weird 3D animated Snow White? If so then I guess that's kinda sad, but the Disney princesses have already been run into the ground before so further rehashing of these princesses is no big surprise.

First Star Wars, then The Brave Little Toaster?

It's not even about Disney. It's about the whole film industry and their love for money.

Disney or not, this is outrageous.
