From: We need to set some requirements on the whole blog thing.

Hey guys.

I know that everyone is happy that there is a new big feature here with us and ofcourse, it might be a little spammy right now but i think we need to put some requirements on the people that got one or more blogs.

Why?

Because i have seen a few blog entries where there is no content or anything to discus. Its basically just

''Hi, how are you'' in it.

Not only is it annoying to see such entries but it take away 1 spot from the front page for those who blog for real, those who love to do this.

So, anyone agree with this?

I might make a big fool out of myself but i'm just sharing my thoughts here ^^

Source: We need to set some requirements on the whole blog thing.

What do you guys think about this notion to put a restriction on how much we can post blogs? I for one believe that there should

not be such a thing for the people who actually post relevant things. I would like to believe that just because I post frequently, it doesn't mean that it is automaticly spam. Others (example: Arylett) posted about three blogs today, and that would be passing the said limit that they wish to put in place. So, here is our question for the day:

  • Do you think there should be a restriction? Why/why not?
  • If you said yes, what should it be?

Thanks for reading you guys! Don't forget to comment, brohoof, and follow my blog :3

I kinda agree with this?

As much as I hate restrictions it might be required.

As soon as I saw this pop up I feared that this will just become a spam ground for people bored with spam threads and statuses.

And then others who are actually trying get ignored because they are buried in a sea of spam.

I hate the idea of restrictions, but I guess anything that's necessary to keep this from being a pointless spam area.

I do not think there needs to be any kind of restriction. I suspect people are just making these BS blog entries because it's a new feature and they just want to try it out. I don't think, to most people, spamming blog entries is as fun if the blog feature is months old, compared to being brand new.

Nope.

1. Decent blogs will get more success, and poor blogs will fall off. Consumer demand dictates.

2. It's a new feature, people are curious. There is spam because of that. However, over time, if you post a "I had x for breakfast" for the 30th time, for example, that's really old, and I doubt even the poster would continue with that.

3. Eyeball virginity is easy to maintain: Don't look at the blogs you don't like, and report any offensive or particularly spammy ones. I believe the ToS still applies, so it should be the same with the main forums.

Well of course the recent BS is because its new, but what I am wondering is how everyone will treat this new feature.

Either we'll have a nice space for blogging or the spammers will abuse it for their own needs.

Since I'm a pessimist I'm guessing the latter.

I want to believe that. But my issue is if the number of poor blogs is too high it will be nearly impossible to find the good blogs in the first place. And thus good blogs go unnoticed and they fall off and are discouraged from trying.

Spammers will be crushed by the machine of state gently corrected for their misbehavior. I don't think you need to worry about that.
