Excellent start. I can't draw ponies without copying a base on paper.

The precision is impressive

Pretty good for a first try My first attempt was a little.. Out of whack too, as i was just trying
to draw from the general look without studying into their actual shape and design
 
What I use now to draw a template for the head and other parts is a circle template tool, to draw the head guide then smaller ones for the body.. This one in particular: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Educational-Stationery-Measuring-20cm-Circle-Template-Ruler-Guide-/301674745065
 
The point when i really started getting good was when I read a book that I bought and love ^-^ "The art of Equestria"

 
I highly recommend it, it's a great read, a look into the original concept art and designs for the characters..
(Princess Celestia was originally going to be called "Queen Majesty" LOL )
 
This page in particular helped me realize how to draw them as it was simplified yet detailed on how you draw them ^-^ Or the mares and general shape at least (Couldn't find a better picture than this one on Youtube..)
 

But yeah.. Have with with your pony arts and you should get way better in n time ^-^
