I say go for it. You need to claim your independence, and this might even teach them to treat you better in the long run. Restraining orders are typically temporary, so maybe by the time it runs out they'll understand how they make you feel.

Hm restraining order your parents? It sounds okay but you will lose a possible source of aid if you ever need it in the future it's best to think very carefully about this decision

I know it sounds harsh but how they have been treating me is more harsh

Being harsh NVR believed it but if only we could swap minds but I'm sure you don't wanna be a cruel person don't become someone else take yourself outta the shadows your old enough to realise that now to make decisions with and without help
