As much as I would love to help, I'm trying to come up with my own ideas right now, and I don't ship much. Especially not shipping. But I'd be interested in the story if you do write it.

First-time stories are rarely going to be great. You might not think you're that great now, but what's to say you don't have the potential? Start small, end big. Even Twain or Hemingway had to start somewhere. And if you fail--who cares? It's a learning experience. Sometimes, failure is necessary to succeed.

Write something. Anything. Don't let your confidence stifle your creativity.

Lol I guarantee your going to write a little bit and then take a break for a while, and then when you come back your going to read what you wrote and be all like:  "WHAT THE HELL WAS I THINKING!  THIS IS SO BAD!" and out of embarrassment trash the whole thing.

First of all, NEVER write an OC x Mane 6 shipping story. Ever. It won't have good comments/critiques--many people detest these stories. Unoriginal, common, and cliche. You won't get good feedback. At all. Trust me, I've seen comments on fics like that.

The only way to get better at something is to keep doing it. If you never write stories, then you never will get better at it. I say go for it, who knows, maybe you'll end up being really good at it.
