Anyone who wants to try and rationalize this had better come very prepared with bulletproof logical and legal arguments. Even Justice Antonin Scalia acknowledged that laws penalizing flag burning are unconstitutional.

Well, might as well burn the Bill of Rights if Trump gets his way. It's starting to become just another piece of 245-year-old paper to people in office.

I don't understand how burning your own flag as a protest makes sense (maybe it's an American thing) but I agree it's freedom of expression and shouldn't be penalised.

It is a direct protest to the federal government itself. 

While I think burning the flag is a highly stupid and disrespectful thing to do, it's protected under the 1st Amendmant.

In mexico burning the flag is a federal offense. I find it hillarious americans defend their right to burn a national symbol of their country. I mean, if you hate your country enough like to destroy a symbol that represents its history and ideology, you might as well better leave the place once and for all and look for another country that allows you to have machine guns for the lulz and gives you money if you're unemployed.

We should burn a national symbol if the nation it is supposed to represent is corrupt and pathetic, which the US is. Your logic of "just leave" is one the republicans like to use a lot. Why can't we instead fix all that is horribly wrong with the US? Why can't we actually get something done for once that helps us? Instead we have Donald Trump prancing around causing more problems, a government that doesn't care and a system that always keeps those in the middle class and below without any real power. Until we end the US corruption, greed, wars and all of the other problems, I support burning the flag. I am sick of the US flag anyways. The states should be flying their individual flag instead, each state has one.

You guys hate Trump a whole lot, but we from other countries outside USA see he's not as stupid as you guys portray him. He's a racist son of a bitch, no doubt, but not as downright stupid.

You mention USA's dropping wars... Trump's administration has been one that has had the least open war operations we've seen in decades. Even your peace Nobel Obama went full out war on the middle east just after receiving his Nobel, which was delightfully ironic. You americans put us on the brink of world war 3 and your president went on an economic blockade instead of a raid at Iraq after bombing the fuck out of a military head of said country. Trump literally choose to not start the war your military set up first. He seems far less evil than the rest on that matter.

But then again, look how USA's economy is crumbling down like a cookie now. Unfortunately, USA's biggest bussiness is war and selling weapons to the factions they fight against. Trump is a huge nationalist idiot, but somewhat he's done less damage to humanity than a good amount of the rest of the "good" presidents. But that, of course, had a huge impact on economy and his enterprise view could have worked better if that virus hadn't come out to pop his party xD

Burning a flag won't solve a thing. Is like if you disliked the color of your house and flinged a bucket of thiner at it. Didn't solve anything and made it even uglier.

But all well, if you despise USA so much, leave the country because USA is unlikely to change its ways. Is a country founded on thievery and class strats. You'd need to burn all of it to the ground and rebuild it from scratch, but USA has been throwing rocks at hives and annoying wolves all around. So good luck on that.

Under Trump we have been on the brink of WW3 at least twice. First after Iran shot down a US drone that was over their airspace and second after we did a drone strike an killed an Iranian general and a few others. So the US continues its proxy wars that only lead to death and destruction yet we blame other countries for being against us. Bringing up Obama is worthless because Obama isn't president anymore. That ship has sailed. Trump is president yet he continues to fully support the military industrial complex while everything here at home continues to fall apart.

The economy is crumbling because it is simply a giant bubble. Those up top control and have everything, while those below can collapse at any point. If those below collapse, everything else will as well, not that the rich shitheads that run everything cares. Trump is one of those people. A richboy who has no sense of empathy or humility.

Technically, any individual action from us ants doesn't change anything. If it is done en masse though, that's when you start to get the attention of those at the top. If Trump wants to dare try to pass the flag burning legislation that he craves, he is going to have a hell of a time.

You somehow have a bigger defeatist attitude than me. Really though, you are probably right. It probably is completely hopeless, but I won't stay silent. I won't stop talking about this stuff, I won't stop criticizing it, even if it is all pointless in the end.

People should be jailed for butchering elections and willingly impeding people from voting. That should be more enforced, investigated, and shammed.
