Episode 77 - Litter

Continuing the theme from the last entry...

Y'know what really grinds my gears?  Litter.  The tendency for humans to throw their f*cking garbage all over the place really steams my beans.  Okay, human life produces garbage.  That's just reality.  I understand that.  We really need to figure out how to produce less of it, and soon, but without Star Trek level tech, we're always going to produce trash, and that's just a fact of life.  What to do with it is a big problem as well, and we need better solutions and fast, but what I'm ranting about today is not pollution on a large scale, but the tendency for individuals to just throw their f*cking trash everywhere.  I cannot believe how lazy and disgusting people can be with trash.

Watching people leave their trash everywhere and throw it on the ground is just... it's a f*cking abominable horror is what it is, and it lowers my already rock-bottom opinion of humanity.  So often (pre-covid times), I'd be out at a fast food restaurant, and the neighboring family would get up from their table, and it literally looks like a family of chimps just got done trashing the place.  Wrappers on the floor, used napkins on the floor and the seats, food smeared on the table, on the seats, on the floor.  I don't begrudge someone for an accidental spill, mind you, but why the f*ck do people have to be like that?!  Why are they f*cking animals?!  I've seen people go to the beach for a picnic and just leave their entire pile of trash right there on the sand.  People constantly just throw trash over their shoulder, on the ground any old place.  I see it in parking lots all the time.  YOU, you: person who drops your trash any old place on the ground--you are why this planet sucks.

I'm sure many of you have heard of the Great Pacific Garbage Patch.  This is a giant floating island of trash swept together by ocean currents.  The exact size is a subject of debate, but it's a least the size of a large US state.  It doesn't need to be this way.  I know that that trash has to go somewhere, but it doesn't have to go in the Celestia-dammed ocean and destroy the environment.  The fact that our species actually created something like that just sickens me.

I briefly worked at an ice rink years ago, and one of my jobs was cleaning the place after hours.  Guests left heaps of trash all over the bleachers, of course.  Nachos ground into the fabric of the seats.  It was some f*ck, for sure. But you know what was so much worse?  Part of my job was passing out rental skates, and one morning, before my shift, I went back behind the rental skate desk, and it looked like someone had a f*cking food fight.  Now, let me just emphasize that there's always a couple of employees that stay for an hour after closing and clean the place, and I was the first one to the skate desk area in the morning, and this was an employee-only area.  It looked like someone ordered about $50 worth of McDonald's and then just had a food fight with it behind the skate desk.  Food smeared everywhere.  I mean, there were literally whole hamburgers on the ground that looked like someone ran across the floor and jumped on the burger and tried to see how far they could slide.  This means that the employees who had the evening shift the night before did this and left it this way.

...what...the f*cking F*CK... is wrong with people?  :glimmer:  I hate people.   People like those rink employees make me wish that some distant asteroid would get nudged toward Earth and collide with us and obliterate all life on the planet.

Anyway... that was a little intense for Grind My Gears.  Sorry.  But I just don't understand how people can be like that.

People are lazy. It's as simpel as that.

However, most people at least attempt to do the right thing, so, if there is a garbage bin nearby , they will use it. However, if the government (or the company if this is a private place) saved on garbage bins, then some people will throw the trash on the ground because they can't be bothered to carry it a long distance to a bin. If the bin is full, then expect to find some trash near it.

With your wish for mass death though, well, have you considered wearing a red armband and running for office? :)

I didn't even read because I might regret it, but if you don't already know it, you might feel some love watching this channel:

May you have the strength to not get hooked by the schemes of Fear but devote most of your energy towards Love where it is needed, deserved and welcomed.
Especially in times of crisis this cannot be expected to be achieved by ourselves, but that is why I am here writing this, even though or because no automatic algorithm pushed my ass in this direction. This is pure loving Pinkie randomness. (alcohol inside™)
