I understand this is somewhat old news, but this really pissed me off. So I was reading an (old) article on Forbes recently. The article was about the Sandy Hook shooting and that CNN was blaming Starcraft 2 for the slaughter because they believe that because the shooter had recently played Starcraft before he shot up a bunch of children, then that means that Starcraft made him do it. So, we should ban Starcraft and any other video game that has a ESRB rating above E. Well, let's wind the clocks back 1999. Before the Columbine shooting started, both of the shooters went bowling a couple hours before they started shooting people. With the same logic CNN shows, does that mean bowling caused Columbine? Should we ban bowling? Adolf Hitler loved Dinsey and sketched Disney characters in his free time when he was not planning ways to kill Jews and take over Europe. Osama Bin Laden's hobbies also included volleyball as well as jihad. Is volleyball a sign of extremist Islam? Should we ban volleyball?
