Steam userbase, I am disappointed in you.

Some time ago, The War Z was released. Many people preordered this game solely on hype, and were burned when it turned out the developers were a bunch of scumbag scam artists, outright stealing many peoples' money, releasing a broken mess of a game with conspicuously-functional "micro"transactions, and silencing people who spoke out about them. Valve took action and took the game off the Steam store until the developers made some changes. People were rightfully pissed and the game's infamy after the fact helped keep people from buying the game.

And now, it's not only the Steam daily deal, but it's at the top spot on the "Top Sellers" tab.

I mean, pardon my French, but this is, as The Nerd would put it, a shitload of fuck. Why are people buying this game? Why are people supporting these scam artists? For fuck's sake, they should be paying you to take the damn game, not charging for it! I get that infamous games see a lot of sales because of morbid curiosity (Look at Bad Rats: The Rats Revenge) but there's got to be a line. Even if people are buying it as gag gifts or out of morbid curiosity, the scumbags who made the game are getting money. The people who are buying this atrocity are supporting a group of individuals who have no problem lying to their customers, insulting their customers, scamming their customers, and giving a shitty product to their customers. And that's just wrong.

I mean, if you want a zombie game, don't buy War Z. Instead, go buy Left 4 Dead 2. Sure, Valve aren't saints themselves, though they're certainly a hell of a lot better than Hammerpoint Interactive, the developers of War Z.

People piss me off sometimes.

DayZ is officially being released very soon, as well. Never played DayZ or The War Z, but the former is the original, and supposedly far better than The War Z.

But yeah, it could be curiosity, but I wouldn't be surprised if some people thought it had to do with World War Z, the book and upcoming movie, and I certainly wouldn't be surprised if the "developers" named the game with this in mind.

And aren't the people who made The War Z also the guys who made Big Rigs: Over the Road Racing, officially one of the worst games of all time

the whole fact of "you are dead, now you have to wait an hour to play again or let us have more money, also finding shit in this game is impossible, so use our store to give us more money and have better items" just sickens me, the game is focused on PVP as well as PVE, which means, people are going to die and those dead people cant play the game they payed for unless they payed more to play again. plus pay-to-win on a zombie game is friggin' suicidal idiotic

WarZ is probably the biggest disappointment to ever reach Steam Store.

The fact of the matter is that due to the infamy of just how bad this game is and how horrendously cheap it is people may be buying it just for this.

Besides, we don't really know how the top sellers system works (at least I don't anyway.) For all we know it may flux based upon sales per hour or it could be X sales per day, it's just a mystery. Besides, this would make for an incredibly awesome joke gift. WE KNOW how horrible this game is and what better way to get a laugh than to gift this before sending the real gift? tongue.png

I know, I know, we shouldn't be supporting the developers disrespect for their customers and Steam should've really kept this game off the store after revoking it the first time. But people LOVE cheap games, even if they're steaming piles of shit.

P.S. Considering that a $90 alpha is #4 on the top sellers list, that should be enough to give you an idea as to what kind of system Valve uses (not really!)
