This group has actually known each other thanks to being pen pals, and have already become close friends; even with long distances in mind. After the initial success with Twilight's Friendship School, the Derbyshire Historical Academy was wanting to try something similar in diversifying their student body. After putting out feelers and not receiving any response due to the EEA's meddling, privateer Corsair put in a word to Sojourner of the Derbyshire Museum of Pony History of a young parrot named Athena. Having known of her network of friends and their shared love of history he proposed they join the academy and learn under the tutelage of Sojourner and her team.
