Ask an Aviation Fuel Quality Controller
Celestial Panzerhund replied to Celestial Panzerhund's topic in Ask a Pony
@-Solstice- Ha, thank you, but almost! I finished the schooling itself without much hassle. Only failing five tests in total and no repeated classes were had. All I gotta do is study the test questions and get the license so I can actually work on planes. -
Ask an Aviation Fuel Quality Controller

Well it's certainly a start! I took a 19mth course so it was super fast paced. When normal courses take 24-32mths The testing to get the license is also animal you gotta tackle, too. The school itself is there to help you pass the test. And that said test comes with three categories and three sub categories: Generals: essay, oral and practical Airframe: Essay, oral and practical Powerplant: Essay, oral and practical All can be taken separately over the course of 2yrs, or can be done at once, but each test costs ~$150 so if you fail it, you busted out that money for nothing. P.S. Essay testing isn't exactly "Essays" they call it that for some reason but it's more like -

@-Solstice- I totally get that, hence why I ran through the trade school. Easier, cheaper, and if you got a certain certificate and license, you already have a value and skill set that's needed in an industry. And nah, Fuel Farmer is a job that doesn't have advances. Sure you can be a Fuel Farm Mechanic, and then up to a manager, and then regional, but that's gonna be a little bit more of a hassle to obtain. What I plan is to be that A&P technician and work on aircrafts themselves. The engines, framing... with the exception of avionics and sheet structures, I can pretty much pull that aircraft apart and put it back together again. -

Trade school. Something shorter and may be easier, depending on where ya go and how interested in the subject you are getting certificate/license for. You don't jump through any other hoops to learn anything else BUT the thing you're interested in. And there's plenty out there, just gotta find what sparks for you. I definitely tried college for a semester and found it to be like high-school with extra steps. Some might say 'stick with college it's for the best' and in some cases that may be right. Yet we all have different thought processes, functions, and talents; sometimes cookie-cutter profiles like college just doesn’t do good for some, but can be that good for others, too. Just gotta find where your shtick is. Ain't no rush in that -

That's gonna be a long answer But to shorten it: I searched for a career outside of typical college. Found trade school. Went into AMT (Aviation Maintenance Technician) for an A&P (Airframe and Powerplant) license. 19mth course, finished it, now all I gotta do is test. And that's a whole 'nother dog to tame. -

Basic math and understanding the severity of your job. A hassle, right?! But it can also depend on who ya work for and their requirements. My tasks are easy enough and a computer does 99.9% of the calculations already. I make sure the fuel is pristine going and and coming out. -

Nostalgic coming back to this place after so long! -
It's been a super long time since I've been back on here. So why not start with an AMA? As title stated, I'm a Fuel Farmer for aviation. I like to rename it: "Aviation Fuel Quality Control and Storage Management", cause it sounds fancier, buuuuuut the "Fuel Farmer" is the real name for it. I can tell by going around my city and telling people what I do comes as a surprise cause it's practically an unheard of job, so I thought I'd share it here as a way to get back into the swing of things on here after not logging in for nearly 8yrs, also may give ideas for jobs people might be looking for, too. Below is a Filter Separator unit. An old one. Thought it'd be neat to see

[Ponyville] A Magical Mistake
Celestial Panzerhund replied to Silver Note's topic in Advanced Roleplays
@Silver Note The machine noted an energy wave coming into proximity at a rapid pace and nano-seconds after noticing it, a new pony appears. Teleportation. An intruder?... nope... not with that first sentence and the scream. The gardener spoke up about keeping quiet. The newcomer looks discombobulated. Then the pink one... fluffle Puff rushes over to comfort her and brings her into a hug. The new one is now at a calmer state than before. Asking the fluff ball her name and getting a... response. Just not the she must've been looking for. The gardener spoke up for Fluffle Puff, and the two (or three if you still count fluffle "speaking") exchanged names. Silver Note... Flower Leaf... Flower.. Leaf? odd name... odd laugh... and uncomfortable one at that.. especially when stating a name? Why laugh at your own name? If it wasn't for the name and the laughter soon after, it wouldn't be as curious. The gardner has its attention now. Facing her and angling its head down, it notices somethinge it didn't notice before... it could be false... the odds- even if slightly evident at the stuttering and laughter of the name, couldn't be true. -
[Ponyville] A Magical Mistake

@Silver Note The metal beast could understand ponies worry. When UT of what seemed of be nowhere, a pink and absurdly fluffy pony scampers up and hugs it's leg. Slightly taken aback from the sudden hug and... nuzzling... it watches by bringing it's 300lb head down to meet the pink fluff ball. Only for her to run around in circles. What a spunky little thing. "Fuffle Puff..." The gardener spoke of this pink ones name moments ago. Her voice pattern was heavy with caution. Fluffle Puff... fits the pink one almost too perfectly. It wonders if this "Fuffle Puff" could speak. If she could, it would most likely say something other than gasping... unless she was so excited you meeting this hunk of metal.. but why? It's an aegis to a Celestial being! It needs be looked up to in awe! A machine of-... The gardner spoke again, hesitantly, "Hello..." She said. //:<Hello: həˈlō, heˈlō -Exclamation used as a greeting or to begin a conversation -Noun -An utterance of “hello”; a greeting. -Used to acknowledge the other.:>// It couldn't reply volcally, but if there was one thing it could do... it gave a slow nod. -
[Ponyville] A Magical Mistake
Celestial Panzerhund replied to Silver Note's topic in Advanced Roleplays
@Silver Note The Hund has looking down at a slight angle, thinking about the possibilities of what the day can churn out for it. ==outcome #1<<A-B>>== ==outcome #2<<C-D>>== ==outcome #3<<E-F>>== It thought of what would happen if it chose from this, that would happen, or if it chose that, this would happen. If the outcomes number is higher than the other, that shows less of a possibility that outcome were to come true. ==outco-.... It holds in mid thought and stride, seeing a pony that just came into view range. It looks (how can it do that without eyes? Magic) the pony over... a garden worker. It slowly shots to the side to show it possessed not emblem on its hull. It was Celestia's cutie mark, the sun. Hopefully this pony would see that it's on their sun idea and not just some...thing... scampering about the halls... or garden come to think of it. Come to think of again, this was the 4th outcome it processed a while ago. Since the 4 is shown to be true... ==outcome 4/A: Pony panics== ==outcome 4/B: Pony accepts, moves along== And so on...
