    because tomorrow spring is here!

Nope...Seems the weather ponies have got other things in mind, or Rainbow really is being a lazy pony when it comes to her weather duties....We're almost a week into spring and there's still 3ft of snow on our front yard. As well as 1ft of snow on the forested mountain bike trails I ride. There shouldn't be near this much snow on the ground this time of year.

We also just had a snow storm...and got 12cm of snow over one night on Friday. Temperatures have NOT been Spring temps. Day time temperatures should be around 10 to 11c (51f for you Americans)...not -6c (21f for you Americans)

    I blame Makusu

So I added more stickers to my already partially sticker bombed road bike....Which has flat tires and a couple other missing bits...I'll be shortening the chain and possibly cutting the steerer tube.

I'll continuously add more stickers, until I'm not able to see any part of the frame.

Waifu stickers for the win. These have been on there for over a year now....I got them at Red Bubble. Still show no signs of wear.

There seems to be signs of melting. It was a balmy 8c today! That's 46f for you Americans.

My god I just wish the snow would just go and have spring arrive....I'm sick and tired of snow.

So yea...the 4ft high snow banks that are on our lawn and stuff.... there's a ton of snow....

Yes, we still have our Christmas decorations up out front, still.

Out on my SS roadie for a quick run. I'm just cruising around. I approach an intersection....I have a green light, driver approaching the intersection from the opposite direction, has his blinker on to turn left...he's almost at the intersection, doesn't look like he's slowing down either. At this point I'm past the crosswalk and entering the intersection. he then proceeds to turn left at speed as he crosses the crosswalk.....RIGHT into me...I was going straight....so I have the right of way regardless If I was any slower going through the intersection, his front bumper would've hit my rear tire and caused me to crash.

It's like he wasn't even looking for oncoming traffic or anything....I was looking at him the whole time too, he was looking left the entire time, even before he entered the intersection.

I despise drivers like this. I was not in the wrong at all. He should've been looking for on coming traffic, and slowed down at the intersection. There were also pedestrians crossing the crosswalk that got a near miss. Stallion was in a huge import SUV too.

Yes, I was riding on the road. not the sidewalk.

A lot of drivers are just plain ignorant or don't give a flying feather about cyclists.

So..I've been busy with this project..I've done some more weathering to parts, I've painted some other bits...anywho, onwards.

Did all the chrome work earlier today and yesterday...from the bumpers to Mirrors and to the chrome trim along the sides of the car....I also did some more weathering to the bits under neath the car itself, even though nobody will see it...I felt it had to be done

    .

Still not finished it at this point.....

So..I then weathered the body extensively to give it an old/abandoned/barn find/rusting look to it...at this point I was finished.....Enjoy.

This was my very first try at weathering a model of any sort and I rather enjoyed it...was therapeutic in a way...I blame Adam Savage from Tested on getting me into this as I now want to buy more 1:18th scale Die cast cars and do different things with them.
  7. Flutter's lover <3
So, where to begin...the idea grew out of boredom and chatting to some friends on Discord. I had this 1:18th scale Die Cast 1967 Camaro that had been sort of falling apart on the top of my dresser...I had also grown tired of the looks of it......So I ended up browsing online for tutorials and such for weathering and repainting models....I then finally decided I wanted to do an unrestored/ barn find look to my 67 Camaro Z28

So, here's as it sat, when it was on the top of my Dresser..had a scuffed up roof, chrome falling off of it...

    Firstly: Disassembly,

It took a bit longer than anticipated...removing wheels from the axles was the hardest part, next to drilling out the rivets for holding the windshield in place. Once apart, I put all the tiny bits such as screws, al lteh chrome trim and other small parts in to my miniature Dashie lunchbox I jsut so happened to have on hand.

P.S. I don't think Fluttershy approved of me doing this to our beloved Camaro, seeming she's walking away....think she might be upset with me... Derpy seemed eager to help though....

    Secondly: Body

I had it planned in my head of roughly what I wanted to do...repaint the interior, repaint the body to a canary yellow, give each door a different treatment, leaving one a primer colour and the other the original black...I also decided to leave the hood, although I may decide to "fade" it out a bit...Not sure yet...Trixie seems to approve though.

    Thirdly: Interior

I spray bombed the entire interior with some satin-black, I then took some of my model paint and brushed on some silver piping and gave the interior some other little details, just to give it some more pop...Not the best looking but, eh...I also based the interior colours off of a picture of an actual Camaro interior I found on Google images.

    Fourthly: Weathering.

To give it a used, old and un-cared for look, I got into weathering it....first things I did were the exhaust and engine....but I plan on doing the whole care eventually.

    Fifthly:

The car is still nowhere near completion but I did do a bit of assembly/mock up earlier...I'll be doing some more weathing as the car gets assembled...I've actually been following some vids of Adam Savage on his Tested channel for weathering and such.

Now, Excuse me....all these paint fumes are making me woozy.... :awuh:

    I was bored and I did a thing today. I made a waifu/Fluttershy keychain.

I took one of my several Fluttershy vinyl figures and made one of them into a keychain. Of the specific vinyl figure I used, I've got 5 in total...So making one into a keychain didn't hurt too bad. It's not the blind bag Fluttershy either. I'm not sure what she's from, but she's a bit bigger than a Blind Bag. She stands a little over 2'' tall, where as her blind bag counterpart is only 1-3/4'' tall.

I used a picture frame Eye hook and screwed it into her, between her wings. I then took part of another keychain and put it through the loop of the eye hook. Seems to hold pretty well and it's got a secure clasp.

She'll make her way onto my backpack in the nearish future.

Yep, finally got to mount my new tires on other my bike today. Such a bitch too. The easy part was getting them on the rim, but getting the tire bead to seat properly into the bead of the rim, was hard. The tires being tubeless, they require a tighter fit to the rim. I'm not running tubeless..as it requires additional stuff to set up. But the option is there for me if I decide too, since I've got tubeless ready tires and rims.

I'm also going for my first actual trail ride tomorrow with a couple friends. I'll have some real saddle time with these new rims and tires.

Tires I got are WTB Vigilante 2.3 front and a WTB Bronson 2.3 Rear. Rims are WTB I25 Frequency Team Issue.and the hubs are Hope Pro 2 Evo's.

Picked this beauty up the other day, brand new, neighbour was selling it for a friend. I got a free bike with it too.(Not the one in the stand). I paid $20 in total for the lot...Good stand. Lots of nice features to it. I googled the brand name, and retail of this stand is $150 USD. It's a lot nicer than my previous work stand. THis one is much more sturdier, convenient and easier to use.

There's no cheap plastic on this thing either, the handle and clamp are made out of steel, with the clamp having a rubber soft jaw sheath to prevent scratches and to better hold the bike. it also rotates 360 degrees, so I can get to anywhere on my bike I Need to.

So yes, deal of the day, VERY pleased with the quality of it. It should last me many years.

Collapses for storage too, when I'm not needing it.

New wheels installed. Disregard the flat tires and the potato pics of my basement. I'll upload new pics and stuff later when spring is here.

Haven't weighed it yet...but my guess is 29lbs.

With spring around the corner...it's upgrade season. What better way than to get a new set of wheels for my bike? I've even got it some new brake rotors and pads. These will be the last upgrades for a little while, lol.

The wheels are being custom built over in the UK...So I don't exactly have them yet...I should have my complete wheelset by the time March rolls around.

The hubs themselves are CNC machined and hand built in the UK, by a company called Hope. They make all of their stuff in house.

Little video on what they do and are about.

    Tour of their facility

Biking is one of my biggest passions, aside from ponies. So I tend to put a lot of money into it. Just like some of you guys spend Hundreds on a PC (I do too), I've spent thousands on my bikes....Some of you may say like "What? that's the price of a used car!" Yes....yes it is...but I'm sure some of you have a passion for certain things and like doing them and putting money towards said passions and having a lot of fun.

You won't find anything "Made In China" on my bikes. Taiwan on the other hand, yes. However Taiwan is known for better materials and strict guidelines for material quality. My frame was built in Germany, my current wheels were made in Italy and France. and everything else was made in Taiwan, USA or Canada.

Next stage of upgrades that is. Ordered the rest of my upgrades today and yesterday. Hopefully they'll arrive soonish. They are coming from the UK afterall, so I never know....Sometimes my orders have arrived in a week, other times bit more than a week.

I'm hoping these new upgrades drop off 1lb on my bike. As I'll be removing some rather heavy parts, that won't be used/needed after the new ones are fitted.

Decided to lower the suspension on my DJ Bike.

I went from 130mm of travel to 80mm. Fairly simple thing to do. And completely reversible. I just made up some spacers from a set of old handlebars.Even though it's somewhat simple, it just takes time to do. I had to completely disassemble them.Which involved draining the shock fluid out, removing the spring, letting out the air...and removing the fork itself into the two main pieces.

Though, I really need a new stem.(the bit that hold onto the handlebars) It's too damn long....makes the bike look weird.

Something triggered a repressed memory of mine tonight,, of someone I'd rather forget all together...and now I'm in a rather depressed mood, thinking about what they did to me, thinking of how they treated me like I was no one to them....this isn't the first time it's happened either.stupid things that force me to remind myself about him, trigger it. I can go for days or weeks not thinking about it...though sometimes, I happen to read something or hear something, I get reminded of him. This time it was a single line in an RP I was participating in, I didn't even respond back to my RP partner, I just get into a sort of depressed state....like now, while typing this out...only thing I have for comfort are my Fluttershy plushies, though even cuddling her doesn't help sometimes...so then I usually just go to bed sad, with her, if it's any kind of late hour, and I"ll be doing that when I finish typing this...

I just sigh heavily when ever I think about it, though, I don't want to admit it, I get rather suicidal as well. I've never attempted it, but I've thought about it a lot.....at this point, right now, I've gone from being depressed from repressed memories, to just being generally depressed, and not wanting to talk to anyone directly, hence this blog...where it may or may not get read.

Anyways...this was more of a vent blog than anything...I just wanted to get this out there. I'm not in a really caring mood at the moment. I'll probably of regretted typing this out by the time I come back on tomorrow anyways....So...yea...good night....

Yea, I was out on my bike today. But I remembered my camera this time.so I took some pics of a few interesting locations in my town.

Seeming most of the snow is gone, I was able to explore my town. Some stuff I found, was rather shocking...they're ripping up rail trails, to put housing developments on the land. A lot of people use these trails. Though I was also able to get a couple shots of our river lock system. and a couple historical buildings.

This is one of the trails. That tree line WAS right up beside that orange gate last year..

Here's another. there used to be a second bridge going over the road I took this pic on, which lead to another rail trail, but it's been gone for a few years.and they must've just installed those steel railings, as they weren't there last year. So it makes it a bit harder to ride your bike up and down the incline. You can see the first bridge in the background there.

Here's a few pics of the locks that are in our town. The river splits the entire town in two.

On the other side are the locks themselves, which allow boats to ascend or descend to the upper and lower portions of the river. It's basically an elevator for boats. The locks are over 100 years old and they have to be opened manually by a large handle in the ground. It takes 4 people to open just one gate. There are 3 gates in total.

That building on the other side of the river is the Pyjama factory. It's a pretty old building. It's seen it's fair share of fires and businesses. They're putting condos up there soon, not sure if they're tearing the building down totally or not.

That's a little bit about my town.

Finished my restoration project today....for now anyways. I plan on getting a brown saddle for it and brown handlebar tape.

I've rawed the frame and clearcoated it.. it shows off the brass brazing, that was used to put the frame together, rather nicely. It gives it a light steampunk look.

Some of these pics were taken during the paint stripping process...

So lately I've been working on a restoration project of a 1984 Masi road bike. My dad found it sitting out for garbage, along with a roof rack for 3 bikes, and the bike stand in the pictures. as it sits, it's worth about $300-$400. but I was told,if I cleaned it up and gave it some new paint, and got rid of the rust, it'd be worth a little more ($600-$700ish)That doesn't mean I'm going to sell it.

So here's what I started out with, flat tires and a little bit of rust.

For those that know about bikes here's a spec list

    Specs:

Frame: Masi (most likely, still unsure of it but it's msot likely a Masi)
    Hubs: Phil Woods
    Rims: Wolber
    Spoeks: DT Swiss
    Brakes: Campagnolo Record
    Pedals: Campagnolo Record
    Cranks: Sugino AT
    Shifters: SHimano 600
    Derailleurs: Suntour Le Tech
    Seat post: SR
    Stem: Cinelli
    Handlebars: Specialized II 44s
    Foot straps: Christophers

It didn't take any effort at all to get it rideable. all it needed was some chain lube and some air in the tires, luckily the tubes held air.

I began the long task of polishing the rusted chrome, as best I could....I Still plan on doing the pedals and brakes a bit more.

here's some before and after pics.

No before, but this is an after pic.

I'm also trying to decide on a new colour....the green paint on there is crap...and I'm not a fan of green.

So I've narrowed down between orange and yellow....I tried other colours but blue is too common, so is red, nto a fan of brown...and I figured yellow or orange would look best as they're not very common colours for older road bikes.

I shopped in the colours in these pics below....

Behold he Great And Powerful Flutter Dash's awesome photoshop skills.

What colour should I go with?

I'll be painting the "lugs" of the frame chrome. The lugs are the bits that hold the frame tubes together....they're brazed onto the tube ends, and are used at the bottom bracket, where the cranks are.Where the seat slides into the frame, and where the fork slides through at the front.
