No, Lent is right before Easter... I'm not sure what this might be... I'm not entirely sure... There's something both cathartic and calming about it. It gives a nice reprieve, I guess, for my mind trying to find every single pattern in every layer of sound in a song (I do this habitually, even for stuff like Venetian Snares). It's nearly impossible to explain it. It probably helps that I love certain sounds that often crop up when fiddling with various effects, such as the particular sound a synth makes when distorted slightly then fed through a flanger with feedback maxed and vibrato set slow, or a voice fed through a looper with a low delay. Die.

I've read enough creepypasta to know that you NEVER want to see what it is. Even if you do.

I could argue that what I do is music, but I won't because it doesn't even seem like music to me. I used to call it noise art or sound art or somesuch, now I just call it noise. I've been listening to it a lot, lately.

Thanks :3 It's mostly for my own enjoyment. I find it fun to make and listen to noise, Also, it's a little bit to learn this particular DAW. It's new to me, and it seems to work more in the way I think, at least in how synths and effects are put together.

Composition software, eh? Cheap and easy? How about free? I've recently been fiddling with SunVox. It's a modular tracker, very easy and fun to use, and you don't really need any sort of special hardware. coupled with Audacity for recording/editing samples and exporting as ogg vorbis, SunVox is an incredibly powerful tool for PC, Linux, Mac, and various mobile platforms. I've mostly been using it for noise, but it's amazing for pretty much any genre. EDIT: If a tracker isn't your thing, though, I'd recommend energyXT. it's $50, if I remember correctly, and has a nearly unrestricted demo version (you can't save project files in the demo, but you can export completed tracks and save presets). It's a very lightweight DAW that runs on Mac, PC, or Linux, and it's very easy to use if you know producing terms.

I volunteer 4 hours a day, Tuesday-Saturday, at the craft shop. It's pretty awesome, because I get to work in a place I love to shop and I'm the only male employee. ;D
