  1. In the USA there are a lot of MLP conventions. Too many conventions is not a good thing, I think we should discuss which conventions should exist and what ones are cluttering up the scene. Bronycon obviously has its place as the largest and first Brony convention. What others, hmmm... 'Big Apple Ponycon' I'd say is a good choice. I know there are others out there that are golden choices too. The conventions outside the US like 'Galacon' and 'BUCK' are also good examples. Are there too few conventions in Europe, or is it the right amount? And the 'MLP Fair' also fills its niche, being a MLP convention older than G4 and is Hasbro sponsored. I'm not saying that lesser cons should just disappear, but I think that those guys should go small. Maybe go for for a mini-convention sort of deal, like a larger kind of Brony meet with maybe a few venders and not trying to get star guests. Instead of trying to compete with the larger and already established conventions. And I think its best if people who never done a convention before should start small, we don't need another 'los Pegasus Unicon'.
  2. How is she not a manipulator? How could she be possibly seen as someone who is honest, based on what we know of her in Magical Mystery Cure? If she is still pulling that kind of Machiavellian crap in season 4 than I guess this show isn't really about the Mane 6 anymore, its about Celestia.
  3. I like wearing my Brony shirts when I'm buying toys, the cashier once said "cute shirt" when I was buying a Brushable. Enjoy the experience. If people give you weird looks, than thats cool. When I was at 'Big apple Ponycon', I spent some time in the area outside the convention, and sometimes regular people curiously looked on at all the ponypeople at the hotel. I overheard one little kid ask her parents "Is that a costume party?" and I just got a big grin on my face.
  4. So now that Twilight is a princess, will that mean Celestia is no longer the mentor character from that point on? Mind you, mentor figures in fiction tend to either disappear, be killed, or take on a different role at some point in the story, because otherwise its a hindrance to the main characters growth after a point. Yoda, Obi-won, Gandalf, Dumbledore, All have to stop being the mentor at some point in their respective stories and let the main characters take responsibility, so must Celestia. But what role will Celestia have? Really, I have already said what I think of Celestia in another thread... http://mlpforums.com/topic/49755-s03e13-magical-mystery-cure/page-54 So I'm hoping she stops being such a manipulator, for the sake of Twilight and the story.
  5. I let that situation slide because it was a one time thing it seemed. But now, Celestia has flat out said to Twilight "Ive been planning to use you as my tool since we first met". That goes beyond trickster mentor and enters sith lord territory. As for the episode itself, its just a terrible episode, with few funny jokes, most of the episode being song, and an extreamly rushed story. So with the whole princess Alicornification at the end as well. Geez, what a terribly written episode. Yeah, the Royal Wedding was based around 2 characters that are just introduced and first mentioned in that episode yet both are important to the main character and those 2 are the ones getting married, and terrible things happen because of a villain and her evil plan that makes no sense. But that was still OK because it was still a fun couple of episodes. But there are few things of worth about Magical Mystery Cure. The writers did a crap job.
  6. She was never asked, Celestia sent her an unfinished spell knowing what would happen. This is nothing to do with how Twilight reacted (she never had a choice anyways) but the methods of witch Celestia operated. She pulled a batman gambit on Twilight, that is not OK. http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/BatmanGambit Celestia is dishonest, a big part of her relationship of Twilight was a lie.
  7. This is my opinion on Magical Mystery Cure. The premise of the story for these past 3 seasons has been Celestia sending Twilight to Ponyville to learn friendship. So the revelation in this episode that Celestia has been secretly grooming Twilight to become a princess means that there has been an ulterior motive behind Celestia's relationship with Twilight this entire time. But that wouldn't be bad if Celestia had given Twilight free will over weather or not she'd become an Alicorn, but she didn't. The episode began with Celestia sending Twilight an unfinished spell, knowing Twilight would try to use it and create a problem, causing her to fix the problem and thus turn her into an Alicorn. Wow, what a terrible person Celestia must be according to this episode, thats really manipulative and dishonest. The finale of the story arc that has been in place since episode 1 season 1, was that Twilight was tricked into being a princess, that's it, thats the reason for all those friendship lessons, so Twilight can be coerced into being an Alicorn because Celestia is a puppet master. What terrible story telling since Celestia isn't supposed to be a villain. This is worse than Chrysalis's plan making no sense in the Royal Wedding, at least those episodes were fun. This episode is like if Twilight became an Alicorn Princess as a result of the events in 'Myserious Mare do Well'. Worst episode of MLP, period. All the others were good, or at least funny.
