@@Steel Accord, In that case, I could just be unlucky. Every last bit of fanfic I've seen with Derpy is either badly written or angst. The one exception was one where Derpy was corrupted by the nightmare(author headcanon on nightmare moon), but was too nice to actually give a damn. So her attempts at killing ponies are rather half hearted. She eventually controls the nightmare and becomes a super hero. It was pretty funny, the arguments between Derpy and the nightmare Also, that one Mr. Davie video where Derpy got killed by the CMC was very funny to me

I watched one episode and wasn't hooked. That's my general formula for television. My first MLP episode was the Canterlot Wedding, which is good, since the pilot was awful I don't like the personality that makes her a tragic, but majestic figure who is a tortured soul trying to feed her foal

@@Steel Accord, Indeed. My love for Weevil, Rex, Paradox, and Pegasus stems that their monsters are unique. Kaiba, Marik, Bakura, and Yugi all seemed to be drawing out of a hat of stock monsters Weevil and Rex use very animalistic beasts, insects and dinosaurs respectively. Also, their extreme rise in danger in the DOMA Saga was very interesting Pegasus has his Millenium Eye, making him seem unbeatable along with the delightful toon monsters mixed with cthuloid Relinquished variants, representing his jovial outside with his mourning inside that longs for Cecilia Paradox's monsters and himself all have a mask that resembles the smiley/frown drama masks, which is rather ironic, given how Paradox himself is a very serious person. However, it could be taken to represent that he uses twisted versions, costumes, of other monsters. Wow, that was a rant. I do like heroes though, Gohan from DBZ is an example. However, he gets my like because of the fact that he is both a badass and a kid. It's an odd balance and his relationship with Piccolo is great...until Adult Gohan, that was stupid

DEfinitely so, but I'm saying that coercion could have taken place in the comics

@@Steel Accord, Then it makes sense. I don't like Link or Mario. Their games don't appeal to me. I prefer Bowser from their games, his dynamic with the Koopalings, love for Peach, and being a king make him more interesting

In the comics, the issue leans more towards the nightmare force In the show, Luna is more or less just throwing a tantrum

@@Steel Accord, Slenderman is fanmade, but as a general concept, he's a sadistic monster. Barring a few fanfics, he always has been a murderous fiend since his inception. You could make him do lawnwork, but it's impossible to portray it as serious because at the end of the day, he started off as a serial kiiller

@@Steel Accord, True, Derpy affects things in the background. This makes her more of a character than say, Lyra or Bon-Bon. But Sombra and Maud affect the main plot. Flash affects it too, but his role is really not cut out for him in any particular way. Derpy does her job of being a ditzy background character well and it is suited for her. Flash has more effect on the plot and is a more major force, but he is also a very blunt force. Derpy has less effect on the plot, but her force varies a lot. I simply don't find them different. They push different parts of the plot, Flash's main character status being cancelled out by his bluntness in doing so

Luna herself says it's her fault and never once implicates Celestia. What should Celestia have done? She tried to avoid hurting NMM but ended up getting shot down for her efforts and wounded heavily

If each henchmen had their own little backstory, then they cease to become henchmen and as such, the point of them, which is to die en masse, is lost AS for Slenderman, the joke is that he's a raping, murdering, monster and he's doing a mundane activity. It's irony With Derpy, I never note her presence. I can see her obviously, but I can see plenty of other side characters and they have no presence. They're there as filler, much like nameless drones

My mistake, but the end point was the same. Celestia tried to reason, Luna/NMM tries to murder her She was too busy getting up from NMM's magic shot Even Luna herself admits it's her own fault, don't pass the blame onto Celestia

@@Steel Accord, Derpy has done stuff in the background, lots of stuff while Flash exists as a plot device, therefore, Derpy has more personality. That was the basic point I gathered. You compared Derpy to other nonspeaking characters, but they actually did things, not just sit in the background twiddling their thumbs
