  1. One of the problems with modern Spongebob is that a lot of the original showrunners left after production of the 2004 movie, considering that it was intended to be the series finale. Since its uncancellation, Spongebob hasn't been the same; the post-movie seasons haven't been as good, yet Viacom seems intent on keeping the series alive just to act as a time-filling cash cow (ever notice how 80% of Nick's weekday schedule is endless Spongebob reruns?)

Personally, I'd rather see Friendship is Magic end with the 2017 movie than risk Hasbro "zombifying" the series. End the series on a high note, in a way. Besides, it's not like the fandom will die when the show does. Plus, maybe the comic series will continue; after the Sonic the Hedgehog SatAM cartoon ended, the comics continued, following the same timeline until 2011 or so.

  2. "Hey students, we've all decided to jam all of your exams into the one day before this long holiday break! Have fun breaking your minds from studying for six different exams!"

Seriously? It's one of my biggest pet peeves with college, and it was a problem at my old high school as well.

  3. It's actually happened for anime I like. Weirdly, this is how I was introduced to 4chan's /a/ board and LiveJournal: it's only those two communities that have regular discussion on the anime, even if things do occasionally brush up against NSFW territory - mainly in the case of the former.

But yes, it really does suck when something you like doesn't seem to have a visible community to talk with it about.

  4. You know the saying, "All good things must come to an end?" Well, I don't think this show is an exception.

I think it would be good for FiM to wrap up after season 6 and the 2017 feature film. As OP indicated, there are signs that much of the current staff are moving on to other companies or higher positions within Hasbro itself. With story arcs being wrapped up, and there still being plenty of time to bring the series to an amazing close (the feature film isn't for another two years, after all). Besides, even after the show ends, there's still a huge fanbase that's churning out fanfics, fan episodes, conventions, and more. The spirit of Friendship is Magic doesn't have to die when the show does.

Just whatever happens, don't pull a Spongebob and "revive" FiM after the movie.

  5. CMC CUTIE MARKS OMGWTFAJHSGVDJHVBKFBS...I wonder what will happen when Babs Seed returns to Ponyville....probably not much.

All in all, a great episode. I will admit that I wasn't giving DT enough credit for most of the episode. Election? "She's going to win with slick campaigning, some of which will likely violate established electoral conventions." Lose the election? "She and Silver Spoon will just stuff the ballots, and if that fails, just wait for the perfect moment to bring Pipsqueak down in a recall election." Five years of DT's behavior lent itself to those kinds of thoughts...boy do I feel silly considering what happened at the end.

Also, this has nothing to really do with anything, but Equestrian school boards are now canon! Yes yes yes, my headcanon is confirmed! I always knew there was more to Ponyville's public education than just "one-room schoolhouse in the middle of tiny rural town". It's a nice little bit of world building in my opinion.

But yeah, good character development for Silver Spoon (the culmination of the thawing that began at the end of Family Appreciation Day,) and great character development for Diamond Tiara and the CMC. It took a lot of courage to help somepony who's been nothing but a bully to them for years.

Great way to celebrate five years of FiM! Well, back to my roleplays.

  6. After spending a few minutes on the roof of City Hall, looking to see what was the cause of all the commotion near Seaside Bazaar, Bright Idea decided that it was time to get off the roof. "Okay, I think it's about time we head back down. It looks like things over there have calmed down, and I don't think the police would be too happy if they found out I was technically spying on them."

With her was the same mare from the presentation earlier. "You're right. I didn't think I'd spend this much time here....nonetheless, it wasn't bad."

With that, the two of them left the roof. The mare left City Hall, but not long after Bright Idea went back into her office, she heard a knock at the door. "Come in," she said.

The door opened, and a familiar figure entered. It was her Minister of Civil Defense.  "Ms. Mayor, I understood that you wanted to speak to me about something?"

Well, if she was going to tell him off, better now than later.

  7. The reboot itself is a good idea, although I feel that the RP should be left off on a high note, relatively speaking. A cliffhanger, large plot point, anything of the sort, but the reboot should pick up after some "suspense." (I use that term loosely.)

That's not a bad idea. I don't plan on rebooting this for quite a while, anyway.

  8. ....*is this thing up*? Okay...finally, I can use MLP Forums again! Stupid cooling systems and flash drives having to break and screw up everything.

So, Equestria Forward. Where are we? What are my plans?

    - Yes, it would be dishonest of me to not say that this roleplay has slowed down significantly, and especially as we're coming up to an important point. Initially, when I returned to MLP Forums in July after a very long hiatus, my intention was on continuing this roleplay from where it left off, no cancellations and no reboots. The story advanced to Friday morning, at last!

All was peaceful until the doorknob attacked, shearing off my flash drive and rendering it useless. In an instant, I was without all of my Equestria-related data, including OC information and (unfortunately) my Equestria Forward stuff, including maps and some chickenscratched plans for a storyline of sorts. That got me thinking, with how slow the roleplay has moved in the last few months, and the fact that I could no longer access my EQF info, maybe it was time to consider a reboot.

Hence, I made this blog post back on August 18. Needless to say, I am considering a reboot now. The blog post says that it will be rebooted, but I'm actually not 100% sold on that yet.

If I do reboot this, however, I do plan on trying to maintain continuity with this version of the roleplay. Hence, all of the registrations would carry over (no need to re-register) and the juicy details I've posted on this thread would be transferred over. Also, I plan on creating a separate website to hold all that stuff (and more), instead of having to rely on a thumb drive to hold most of that information.

So, I just thought I'd let you all know. I haven't made a final decision, but I'm weighing the future of this version of EQF.

Wait...a little break-in? Horseapples. Maybe the police had overreacted...and by extension, so did she.

Oh, how was she going to spin this around into something her bosses would allow to air? Surely they wouldn't waste precious air time on "a little break in". As a backup plan, maybe she could do a feature story on the store itself...but there's that "would they or wouldn't they" thing again. At best, such a report would probably be relegated to one of those little-watched lifestyle shows on Metro9.

"To be honest, we saw a few police cruisers racing down the street towards this store, and thought that maybe something big was happening. Looking around, it doesn't seem as if too much did."

    @@Akari of Duskshire

As Quick Lens was setting up the last of the camera components outside, he noticed a unicorn who was simply wandering around the store. Maybe she was just shopping; and he sure wasn't going to film customers unless Quick Scoop managed to get an interview. The last thing he needed was to film inside a store without permission.

  10. @@Dapper Charmer

Not long after she entered the art store, a llama came up to her and welcomed her. Maybe he's the owner?

Smiling at the llama, she introduced herself. "Thank you for welcoming me to your art store. I'm First Scoop, a reporter with Metro Media, one of the broadcasters in this city. The stallion outside is Clear Lens, my camerapony. Nice to meet you."

  11. The reporter checked her watch. 3:48. If she got the story done now, there would still be time to get the package to the station in time for 6:00.

A minute later, the camerapony disembarked from the vehicle, before grabbing the equipment from the back. After taking out the camera, microphone, and lights, he turned back to his colleague. "Do you want to try the interview first, or do you want to tape the whole story out here?"

"We'll tape outside...but I'll talk with some of the customers and employees inside. Stay outside; I'll call you in if I get permission to interview in the store."

With that, the reporter entered the store.

  12. Looking back, I actually don't think that Magical Mystery Cure was all that bad. Yes, Twilight's ascension was...sudden...if you look at it from the point of view of that one episode ("Oh, you managed to complete an unfinished spell! Bam, alicorn princess!"), but from my perspective, the signs were already there. Why would Princess Celestia take somepony like Twilight Sparkle under her own wing unless she knew that her potential could be groomed into something greater? It's not every day the all-powerful demigod princess and ruler of the country plucks a random unicorn out from the herd to become her personal student.

The Mysterious Mare do Well was jarring in terms of its aesop, but I actually think it's one of the best episodes for one reason and one reason only: we finally got goddam confirmation that electricity exists in Equestria and isn't just goddam generated by thunderstorms.

(No, those aren't typos. Those were intentional.)

Hey there, so I had a posts in mind but wanted your approval. I felt it wouldn't be right to add in my own input to what political and military decisions of Port Impala.

Is it okay that say, the Port Impala military (do they have a military?) dealed a security contract with the Equestrian Strategies Group (my created private security/military firm) ?

Yes, Port Impala does have a military (from the now-defunct MLP Nations entry on the country):

Military power: "Economics over politics" also carries over to the nation's military, the Commonwealth Defense Forces (CODEF for short). The government maintains a large enough military (army and a navy) to sufficiently defend the city-state, but not large enough to be on any country's radar as a formidable enough power to be part of a military alliance. There are roughly 8,800 active troops, with an additional 5,000 on reserve.

On the other hoof, the police department is one of the largest and most formidable in the world, with an estimated strength of at least 35,000 uniformed personnel. A popular running joke in some social circles is that the police act as the country's real military, and the actual military is just a "front" put on by the police.

As to the concept of private contracts, I'm not against it.

  14. The Metro5 news crew noticed that most of the police officers were leaving the shop up ahead. Maybe there had been some kind of resolution? Even if there wasn't, it looked as if it was safe to proceed.

After the reporter phoned the newsroom to get clearance for a story on this event, the vehicle began to drive up from its position almost a mile from the shop; after a few minutes, the van passed the store before turning around. A few more minutes passed before the van stopped right in front of the shop.

Before emerging from the vehicle, the two occupants looked over the exterior of the shop. It looked to be some kind of art store.

As the reporter emerged from the vehicle, she thought about buying a painting when this was all said and done.

I'm gonna add another character to my roster.

You might be familiar with him Skbl17.

Like his description says he's a security contractor. I'll add an objective for him later.

That is if you approve him?

I have no problems with him; if I did, I would have made it clear in EQF (which is getting rebooted, by the way). Approved.

  16. Fall, because I get the least pissed off or upset about it.

While I admire the fact that I won't burn to death in the winter, it's also one of the worst seasons. I live just far enough north that it can get cold and occasionally snow, but I live far enough south that it's not hard to get the shaft when the snow is just to my north. Last February, I was heartbroken when there was this big snowstorm coming; I kept watching the radar, and the rain/snow line was just three miles to my north! That was painful.

Spring is pollen and tornado season. On the latter, it's been quiet around here since 2011, but the silence will eventually end. On the former, I love the color yellow, but not when it covers the city in a yellow haze all season!

Summer is...summer. Heat and humidity galore, especially in July and August.

  17. Following not too far behind the police cars was another vehicle: a newsgathering truck for Metro5, a commercial television station in the city. Apparently, they were on the way back to the station from covering another story when a pack of police cars passed them. Wanting to know what was going on, they followed them.

Unfortunately, news trucks don't have the same privileges as police cars do; namely the ability to blow through red lights.

"Okay, I saw the cars turn right up ahead, so we'll turn there," one of the occupants, presumably the reporter, said.

The driver, presumably the camerapony, agreed. After turning right on to another side street, it wasn't long before they came upon a few flashing lights. Not far up ahead was Seaside Bazaar, but the pair's attention was on a small building close by...some kind of art shop?

"Do you want to head out now?" The driver/camerapony asked the reporter.

"No, let's wait a bit. It's not even 6:00 yet; at worst, we'll have to do a live shot. I don't think it's a good idea to try and get a video shot with all the police around. We are technically here unannounced."
