I started watching MLP last summer. Not bad. I do find the show to be ever so slightly overrated, but I still like it a lot. Also, Rarity is best pony. No questions asked.
Other fandoms I am a part of? ...oh, dear. Let's just say I like reading. Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, The Chronicles of Narnia, I'm in them all. (Well, except Twilight. Ugh.)
I also like shows from THE BBC. Especially Doctor Who. (My favourite Doctor? Well, I like them all to some extent, but...I'll have to pick Peter Davison )
