  1. I'm assuming you were writing up your reply whilst Steel and I were discussing. We came to the conclusion that I awkwardly was trying to hint at that: I wouldn't think so, as Deism is the belief that God exists but He does not actively participate in our livelyhood. If you don't see yourself falling into that category, maybe the Theism category might suit you? Theism is the belief that God exists, and that He actively participates in our livelyhood (This is just a bare-bones explanation). This will explain more: http://prntscr.com/7gzkv0
  2. Whatever you want, I suppose. Do you feel that you need to say something in regards to my opinion? If so, I don't mind. I'm not going to hate on you for it.
  3. There's a difference between having your own beliefs and letting others have theirs, and religions co-existing. Maybe you're looking at a broader scope of this "co-existing." I was referring more to the nit-picking e.g. Muslim beliefs versus Christian beliefs on Jesus. Yes, and I disapprove of it in varying degrees.
  4. My mistake, I should have said that religions cannot "fully co-exist." Well, each religion claims that they have a different god that they believe in, and that those "other gods from other religions" are false or that or that some fact is true and the other is false. Logically, only one could exist, or none can, because they would cancel each other out. Yes, people with different beliefs can live "harmoniously" in varying degrees, but that doesn't change logic with the fact that religions cannot fully co-exist.
  5. Kind of curious here... Why do some atheist loath religion to the point that they want to fight to the death in trying to rid the world of it? I understand that people have a right to believe in what they wish(for the most part), but why abolish something that has good moral values? The average religion does not limit the wanderings of the human mind to explore the unknown, nor does it force anyone to do anything. Sure it may dictate that "XYZ is bad" and "Go to church on Sundays," but it doesn't have probationary officers going after people, making sure we actually obey the rules. I know that religious equality cannot exist, but I am dumbfounded as to why some atheists hold such a bitter grudge against religion. .... just wondering about your thoughts on this. ;P
  6. Alright, now we're getting into the meat of the show. Thank you... the intro was to mish-mashed for me. :/

  8. So far, all I can see is fan-service in this episode... :/

  9. Oh, but I spent high school with a Christian co-op group(I was homeschooled). So I got exposure from multiple different denominations and beliefs... We'd have debates, even though we were supposed to be studying or learning xD. Some pretty awesome people I met at the co-op.
  10. You'd be correct in thinking that. I grew up as a Roman Catholic, but with some exposure to the Byzantine Catholic rite. Both hold the same beliefs and teachings, they just conduct conduct services and the liturgical year differently. I prefer the Byzantine rite over the Roman rite.... just a matter of preference.
  11. I do admit, that I may have come across as being harsh/accusatory as well. I didn't mean to either. Just with religious differences, the internet, and lack of knowledge leaves people hanging and making assumptions. It is indeed a good thing(regardless of her religious affiliations) that you are getting anointed by your grandmother. In God's eyes, at the very least you're striving to get closer to Him, to become one with Him, through any means necessary, whether official or not... and that's what really counts. You're welcome, and have a good night
  12. I wouldn't say it doesn't get thrown around a lot, but rather that it has very specific meanings in the Catholic Church. Same here with Steel, not sure what your denomination is or who your grandmother is, but usually, I'd think someone like a pastor, or someone with religious authority would anoint. Then again, what am I saying, we've got Extraordinary Minsters who go about anointing and distributing communion... but then again, they've been given the authority to do so as laymen.
  13. No offense taken. I guess I should have worded it more like "be careful what you say regarding magic" or something.
  14. Just a personal quirk, I'd rather not consider it "holy magic" as 1) it's not magic 2) some Christians condone magic as being associated with the devil. Aside from that, it sounds like you're basing this off of some game context, just like @Steel Accord said. All I can imagine is that it's probably a very cleansing/weight-lifting feeling.
  15. Submitted to BP with 30 min to spare xD

    music Is music dying?

I would like to assert the fact that music, or at least modern day electronic music, is fading. It's not dying, as hardly any music genre truly dies. It's hard for me to listen to music because some of it is just so repetitive, and that there's barely any interesting, unique melody to it. Granted I admit that I am at fault for doing this too, but I try not to. If you listen to, say a bunch of dubstep songs by various artists, you'll hear remarkable similarities in certain aspects of the songs. Today I head two different dubstep songs by different artists, and both of them used similar "laser pew" sounds, as well as "growls." And when I mean similar, I mean, like they could have just copied off of each other. As it is, I'm not a fan for dubstep (which should really be called bro-step, because true dubstep is no as chaotic). A while back, I heard the exact same melody and synth sound in two different songs. I asked one of the guys who made the song if he had heard of the other one before, and he denied it. If he was telling the truth, then this proves to show that we're already beginning to overlap, and that ideas will at one point, all electronic music will have similar sounds. Already, a good deal of electronic music uses the same basic format for percussion. Other than that, I'd say that because orchestral music, and jazz aren't necessarily reduced to the generic +/- 5 minutes of electronic music, and because of the actual thought process that goes into the composition of said music, we shouldn't see the demise of those genres for a long time. Rock/Country/Metal should be sticking around for quite some time too. I would say that modern-day rap and trap are also subject to the "fading out" soon. This is my opinion, and it doesn't mean it's true. Interesting video related to this topic:
  21. To be honest, for me, it's not myself who's painting the picture, it's the composer or music artists who are. After all, the majority of music that floats around out in the world has been inspired by something, and that something is what is being portrayed through sound. I guess maybe for me, music is more of a visual thing, where I try to see a story, just like I'm reading a faded, water-damaged book, and I let the song drag me along into whatever lies in the measures ahead.

  24. Speaking of quotes, I heard this one yesterday as a send-off(granted, difference in religious views): "May the Passion of Our Lord Jesus Christ, the merits of the Blessed Virgin Mary and of all the saints, and also whatever good you do or evil you endure, merit for you the remission of your sins, the increase of grace, and the reward of everlasting life." Kinda a mouthful, but nice at the same time.
