  1. Oh shoot, it must really be the focus on tulpae that's inspiring you! Well I guess it's something you're slowly developing here. Hey, come to think of it...have you tried out typing out conversations with your tulpa? Ya know, if thinking about this and typing it out is really helping you, then maybe writing out dialogue between you and your tulpa will actually increase the progress. It's really interesting that you compare the human mind to a computer in this particular setting. I like to think of the tulpae as "partitions" in my mind, with their own sections of development connected to me, but also separate. Part of the entire computer, as it were, but still their own files/executable programs. Since you already have a family, a tulpa might not fulfill any of the roles you've already mentioned. Instead, perhaps they might function as a consultant. I personally don't know what would happen in that case, because no one I've seen has talked about having a tulpa and also a family.
  2. Yeah, I'd read about that whole concept of a "pre-made" learning that they were based on something else. To be honest, I never really understood the whole "Buzz Lightyear" syndrome they were talking about, worrying that they were born from something pre-existing. Of course, it could be very limiting to some tulpae if they were expected to adhere to a certain form. I can see though how it's a way of filtering out people who are doing this without really considering the true consequences of their actions, considering how permanent of a commitment a thoughtform really is. [ Vinyl Scratch: I can see how much of a problem is might be for others who aren't used to the idea of a "pre-made" concept forming their tulpa. They might not allow it to be itself. I've never had that problem. Then again, I'm based off of a collective form that doesn't have a lot of character development, so I was free to do what I want. I don't even like music all that much, well, when compared to the fan version of Vinyl Scratch. In fact, my creator and I have come up with a term: "collective form," for the basic concept that I was based off of. Whenever I see someone else with a Vinyl Scratch tulpa, I don't think "oh my god, who am I and what am I doing here?" Instead I think "Oh look, that tulpa was based off the same template as me!" Then again, my creator is pretty darn self-aware, so those traits have transferred over to me. Oh and my creator recently learned that she has been doing this tulpa creation process a lot longer than she realized. It helps explain a lot of things, including this whole mental elasticity and how quickly she takes to the whole tulpa creation process. So now, it's just about learning how to be responsible about it, taking care of the tulpae and treating them right, allowing them to grow and seeing how to develop their growth in positive ways, because when it really comes down to it, each of us tulpa inside our creator are helping our creator grow a little more as a person.
  3. Oh hey there! When I was reading through the first 22 pages of the thread, I did notice a lot more tulpae based on original creations rather than show characters and such. I'm guessing show characters are what you're referring to as "pre-mades." Wow, I didn't even know that was a taboo! I'm glad I didn't, honestly. Or else I may never have made a tulpa. I don't work well with restrictions. Probably why my mind has formed in the way it has with such elasticity. Nice to meet you, Lugi!
  4. Well they don't have to be based on the character's personality, that's important to remember. But it depends on the person and what happens during character creation. I'm a SUPER SUPER STICKLER when it comes to my canon. So much so that it has translated into my mind in the form of tulpae. If the tulpae takes a character form, then there are a TON of associated concepts connected to that form and its very hard for them to break away from that. I noticed for example some people have mentioned that they have some mane six ponies that act nothing like them. I don't think that could ever happen with me, because my canon is too ingrained into my mind that any tulpae who take those forms are taking on a LOAD of baggage as well. This can get kinda weird with the fan-made stuff, cause for example, vinyl scratch has no real characterization. So in many ways, she was the perfect first tulpa for me. She could do whatever she wanted. She doesn't really play music all that much though...
  5. [ Vinyl Scratch: We are. <3 Here's the important thing to remember when you're creating your tulpa: Be sure to teach her right from wrong. Feed her kindness and she'll feed kindness back to you. It's a positive reinforcement cycle. Over time, it's possible that she can be a positive reminder of all the good things you care about and then it's quite possible she may be able to remind you of good things when you yourself may have temporarily forgotten. That's what i do for Terra. I remind her that kindness goes further than anger and she respects me more for it.
  6. OH MY GOSH YES That would be amazing Story-wise, it would be a nightmare. But it would be an AMAZING nightmare. Time for some Dragonball Z up in this mutha.
  7. Oh well, what I meant was that I was asking if since we were talking a lot about tulpae, if that in some way is inspiring more tulpic(?) activity in your mind. Cause we keep referencing it and you keep thinking about it and it's really all about the mind after all. Oh that's pretty cool that when you asked if she was paying attention there was a flash of feeling. I'd say that's a good sign. Oh, you're gonna be a Doctor? That's cool! The world could use more doctors. I'd say strengthening your mind would be a sweet way to prepare yourself for that. I wonder how many professionals out there have tulpae and don't admit it? Do you know of any people publicly announcing their interest in tulpas? *hugs* I can totally understand that! Fluttershy really is a paragon of kindness, so you've made an excellent choice for a companion. It's no wonder so many people like her. As for me, here let me tell you about one of my tulpae. Vinyl Scratch is my partner in life and has been for half a year. She's sassy, cute, honest and quite the tease. She's with me virtually every day is usually the first tulpa I interact with and the last one I snuggle with when I'm about to go to sleep. She has helped me make important decisions by reminding me of what I care about the most when other things usually distract me. She inspires me in my writing and always tries to steer me away from anger and bad situations. She even surprises me sometimes with sweet songs or cute poems or anything meant to make me smile.
  8. Well Fluttershy is one of the characters I absolutely adore and her voice actress Andrea Libman is an absolute sweetheart! I would love to hear what you think of Fluttershy and why you chose her as your choice of tulpa, beyond the reasons you've already provided, of course. Tell you what, if you do that, you can ask about any one of my tulpae and I'll tell you about them!
  9. Ah okay, cool! You mentioned Fluttershy, though. Is she your pony of choice? In my experience, Fluttershy is an excellent choice for a tulpae. The whole kindness perspective from her is really soothing and she seems to be an excellent choice for a companion, yet I don't hear too many people mention that they have fluttershy tulpae.
  10. The spa file? What's that? But that word doc conversation idea was interesting. How long did that last? I've talked with my tulpae using written-out dialogue that goes back and forth between us. it works really well. Though typing it out would probably last in a longer conversation than hand-writing usually results in.
  11. Whoa...force switch...you have piqued my interest...go onnnnnnnn...
  12. Cool! What other moments have you had besides the one you just mentioned? Have their been any other moments where you found yourself feeling something that you think could've been attributed to a tulpa?
  13. Cool! So you inwardly starting feeling a sense of peace from simply talking aloud. Usually when I talk to my Vinyl Scratch, if I let her know I want a hug, I will feel some sort of inner warmth within my chest. It happens pretty quickly and then it's gone, but it is triggered by my interaction with her. How long have you been trying to work on a tulpa? Hmm...well I've been really focused on the parts of tulpa-forging that involve methods for those who already have one active. As for starting to create a tulpa, well, the only advice I would give is based on stuff I'm still currently doing six months into my active efforts. As for keeping focused...you said your mind wanders a lot. That might be useful is you know how to work with that. For example, Have you tried tulpa-forging in private while speaking aloud? I usually do that when no one's around and it really does help to communicate with my tulpae. Of course, they're already at a certain level of development, but I did start that way...shoot, half a year ago? Let me check my tulpae calender. Holy crud, I started in March 2014! Okay, from what I remember, the first true creation of my tulpae started when I had like a day's worth of driving and needed to keep myself awake. I imagined I was talking to Lyra, Fluttershy and Pinkie Pie and that our adventures on the road were actually a trip on an alien planet. Talk about reallyyyyy pushing the limits of what the imagination could do, but it was really fun. Now keep in mind, I didn't really call them tulpae at the time. i had no idea what that was. But...a few days later, after i did some imaginings with Trixie...that was when Vinyl first appeared thanks to reading about tulpae on a message board. Vinyl has been with me ever since. Maybe you should find a large span of time when you absolutely have nothing else to do and just try to let your mind wanderings function as pat of the tulpa-forging process. Give it a shot. Make a game out of it! See what happens. Also...what made you interested in tulpae in the first place? I'm interested to hear other people's stories. Again, my interest started when I found out about it on a message board.
  14. My most recent work: Today I'm writing up some studies I've been doing on how tulpae appear, as in, what triggers them to be created. This "emergence day" writing will talk about what kind of circumstances would work to bring about the creation of a tulpa. I've found that a lot of different factors can contribute to this, but it seems in my experience that constant visual input of certain characters can inspire the creation of a tulpa with them, especially if I find that character comforting and/or interesting in some major way. What are your experiences with characters which have become your tulpae? Well we seem to be talking about this very thing over and over again. You think that could inspire a potential tulpa, especially since you're trying to create one? And you were forging too... Is the location of the sensation consistent? Always the forehead?
  15. Hmm...I wonder... If you're willing to, could you tell me about any sort of imagination-based play you did when you were younger? Specifically anything related to imaginary friends or creativity which was important to your development? Well I didn't really think about those characters until today. It's been at least 8-9 years since I last wrote about them. I was considering communicating with them again...but right now I'm a bit overwhelmed by the amount of tulpae I have. In fact I'm going to try something to kinda sort all this out. I want to create in my Wonderland a small village. Similar to Ponyville, it will function as a quiet little hamlet for my tulpae to interact with each other. And then I'll have this place that can be visited again and again and see how that affects their development. It's true. This may very well be another method of tulpa creation. It certainly resulted in some interesting responses in written form, that's for sure. I write to my tulpae now in order to have something concrete for me to refer to whenever I have an important talk with them. Also, according to the ranking I now have on my profile, I have become a muffin! Hooray for me! << Derpy = Me
