Hey folks, since I haven't seen a thread for it, anyone here play Starbound? To kick the thread off, if so, what are your thoughts, what mods do you like, what species, vanilla or otherwise, do you like most or least? Bonus imaginary points if you post your character.

It's differeeeeeennnt, I don't like iiiitttttt!!
{but I'll probably get used to it, especially if I take advantage of new features}

Sadly, no. The ubiquity of recording and detecting devices means that, if it existed, it would have been found by now by sheer probability.

Okay, ok this is done, I will not be editing this one now.
Here is the done image one.
Woooo! Me likey! Now I kinda wanna know who alla y'alls people are {rather than your OCs}

Err, maybe? Put Sweet Comfort just a tiny bit lower so she's not floating above the letters?
If that's not a problem....

"Dear, where do you keep all your actual clothes? These things in your closet only have one color, I can only assume they must be some kind of pyjamas."

I'd have to agree. Furthermore, I don't think the show has portrayed them as having any problems functioning in society, so why single them out?

"Of course you should fight fire with fire. You should fight everything with fire."—Jaya Ballard, task mage
Maxim 37: There is no "overkill." There is only "open fire" and "time to reload."

It's a good thing not having him. His character can do pretty much anything, so the storywriters can have an easier time writing episodes with villains.
Eh, let's be honest, there's been occasions where problem-solving characters have been {in}conveniently absent in the past.
But yeah, Discord plz. He's too fun to set aside for good.

I might be interested - still reading through the player handbook. A couple of questions, though - first, what would be the degree of seriousness to this game - as in, how true to form {if not canon, obviously} would it be to the show itself? Second, what would be the pace of the thread itself? I might be able to post about once a day, given my life schedule.

Easy, vibraphone. It's actually an instrument I'd take the time to learn, if I could afford it. Sadly, even basic used ones are over a grand.
-
Huh, that's pretty sweet. Wish I could do that while I was bored.

Hypothetically.... probably? I don't really do the friends thing, but if I really was friends with someone, it would probably worth the attempt of salvage. If it doesn't work out, then so be it, but not for lack of trying.
-
Huh, that's very odd, given how quickly request threads tend to be jumped on {let alone good ones} but let it not be said that I let an opportunity pass.
{just kidding, I miss opportunities like a blind prospector in a jewelry shop}
Maybe a ponified version of this gentleman purveyor of high spirits?
In entirely self-serving {and possibly challenging} fashion, perhaps my OC {whom I never play}, Drakontipa, in whatever mood strikes you?
Or, for the sake of love for the hardest working princess, Celestia buried in paperwork?
-
Hey, that looks pretty nice. Very minimalist, but that much for the better.
{wonders about making a request, but figures others would probably have better ideas}

Ah yes? Where in Yugoslavia you were from? And to where now? Nice to meet other Slavic pony.
That - {winks} - would be telling.
-
Hey hey, welcome from another ex-Yugoslavenian. Ex-ex, maybe, since I've since moved, I guess?

I really like the moon phases necklace in that one.

From what I can tell, you seem to be focusing on Rarity's flaws in specific episodes, while you do seem to ignore that she acknowledged and apologized for those flaws by the end of the selfsame episode. She realizes she was hogging the spotlight at Sonic Rainboom. She realizes {even though Twilight didn't} that she neglected her friend's present in favor for attention in Sweet and Elite, likewise risking her newfound popularity in favor of standing up for her friends. And as for Applejack's Day Off, the initial setup is to drag her friend away from work before she breaks down, while ensuring that somepony else is there to take over that workload, which I, frankly, consider to be an act of compassion rather than selfishness.
As others have pointed out, while Rarity does not engage in as much physical labor as Applejack, that's balanced out by designing, detail work and social effort. She is a self-made mare, what we've seen of her parents, they seem to be run-of-the-mill middle class ponies, which implies her business was built from the ground up. She also has a younger sister to take care of, and even in such an early episode like Suited for Success, fitting the element of generosity, she put in a great deal of time and effort into making dresses for her friends, even ignoring her own better judgement in favor of their wishes.
These are some of my reasons why I consider Rarity the most admirable of the mane six ponies.

Rarity firing a monkey dressed like king Louis XVI out of a party cannon into a hay pile filled with plush animals.
Slightly more seriously, CELESTIA EPISODE PLEASE.
{and also maybe Cadence}

I'm a bad person.
Also I hope this hotlink works.

That's exactly what needs to happen. Children these days need to know how to combat the Dark Side.
In my experience, the answer is usually not to use more Dark Side.

Granted, next week scientists accidentally create a genocidal super-race of humans who hail Jimmy Johnson as their god.
I wish to be capable of empathy.
