Haven't seen it yet but that's pretty much what I'm expecting. The anime will never be surpassed.

On the other hand I love One Piece. The anime's great but the live action is just tighter and takes out some of the silliest elements.

I think I may have to actually watch the original anime. I've never seen it but everypony seems to love it.

One Piece may have to go on the list too. You've got me curious.

  2. I really want to see:

    Abigail,

    IF,

    Kung Fu Panda 4,

    Twisters.

I know there's going to be a lot more coming out but I have to poke around and see what trailers they've got on YT. I'll update my list when I learn more.

I don't expect anything earth-shattering from Twisters but it looks like some easy fun at the movies. Abigail is a vampire flick but it has an interesting twist that I have to explore. IF (Imaginary Friend) looks so dang fun and I expect good things there. Kung Fu Panda, well, what can I say? It's Kung Fu Panda! 'Nuff said!

Oh, and I forgot, I still have yet to see Godzilla Minus One. That's a big one on the list. Yeah, it's from 2023 but I'm still getting caught up.

  3. I like that there are some truly original choices up there on the boards. I’m going to give my top three to Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon, Princess Celestia and Cake, and Big Mac and Marble Pie. It’s hard to pass up some of the great options available, but the ships that don’t sail this year can look forward to 2025. (I really wanted to vote for Silky and that glass of milk but it already looks like that ship is gonna crush this without me!)

    Studio Ghibli marathon, Dreamy? :D

There's no better way to spend an evening in front of the TV. I have you to thank for inspiring me to re-watch these. :P

  5. Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind (1984) This is an early Studio Ghibli effort and you can already see all the good things that were to come for this studio. It’s artistic, original and compelling. I haven’t seen this one for a long time and I’m glad to catch up with it again.

My Neighbor Totoro (1988) A truly great Ghibli movie about a man and his two daughters who move to a place in the country. The girls encounter a creature called Totoro and the movie shows all the magic and simple fun that can be found when you're young, innocent and open to all the wonders of the world. The dub has great performances by Dakota Fanning and Elle Fanning.

  6. Avatar: The Last Airbender (2024) This is a new series on Netflix and the trailers looked promising. Sadly the show itself is fairly generic, highly predictable and the acting is mostly flat. The special effects are great but there’s nothing new to that; there isn’t anything we haven’t seen a zillion times. Studios seem to think they can bypass the writing stage altogether and just dazzle the audience into a receptive stupor with CG effects, but this is living proof that good entertainment doesn’t work that way. In all fairness though, I just started this series and haven’t seen enough episodes to give it a really good review. But that’s what I think so far. I’m not a follower of the original Airbender and I thought the much-lambasted 2010 movie was great (I think I’m alone in that opinion), but this show hasn’t impressed me so far.

  7. I’m waiting for my colonoscopy on Thursday. Yup, I said it here out loud and for all to hear. I have something wrong with my digestive tract and I need to get to the ‘bottom’ of things.

Hey, I might as well be humorous about these things, even if I am the butt of my own jokes. (See what I just did there?)

Okay, I’m gonna stop now before I make an ass out of myself.

  8. What articles of jewelry do you like to wear? Do you have favorites that you always wear or do you like to change your line-up from day to day? What are your favorite pieces of jewelry, and what types of jewelry do you like best (necklaces, bracelets, earrings, watches, anklets or maybe something else)? Do you like to wear a lot of bling or just a little something as an accent? Tell us all about it and feel free to show pics!

  9. I was transferring all my files from one computer to another. My old computer is dying so I’m trying to rescue what I can and transfer them to something a little more stable. It took forever and I’m still not 100% there. Gosh I hate technology.

  10. It’s all a matter of personal taste. I’ve seen all kinds and there are no rules except making it a good personal fit for the person wearing it. Neither the wedding nor engagement ring needs to be more expensive than the other (or expensive at all). My mom’s engagement ring is much fancier than her wedding ring but personally I prefer the wedding ring to be the more elaborate of the two because it represents the actual marriage whereas the engagement ring is basically a placeholder to let everyone else know that the wearer is spoken-for. As far as the design, that’s entirely up to the individual. Some like gold, some like silver, some like diamonds and some like other stones mixed in. I didn’t want gold tone for mine and preferred silver or white gold. My wedding ring is white gold with a solitary diamond. It has a simple look and I like it that way. Simpler wedding bands in gold or silver are very popular because they do the job without breaking the bank and they still have all the same meaning. I often think the less elaborate the ring the more meaning there is behind it because it’s more about content than being showy.

  11. I don’t have a cover on mine. I like the idea of the added comfort and prettiness but I also like to know how clean the seat is. I have a plain old white wooden toilet seat with no embellishments.

Steam has the PC version of Shadows that I think is better with the detailed cutscenes and music.

Please say you had heck loads of fun with Dash's jetpack and the Boba Fett boss @Dreambiscuit:kindness:

The pc version sounds good but I doubt I'll ever get a game to play on my pc (it crashes just from opening my email!)

As for the jetpack and Boba Fett boss, I still have nightmares about trying to beat that horrible battle. :LunaMCM:

  13. Honestly I don’t see any difference between the two. I have tons of each and there is no discernable improvement from Blurays over DVD. Blurays sometimes have a few more extras, which is just a way of getting people to spend more and promote that format, but unless you’re really into the bonuses they aren’t worth the difference in price. One big difference I have noticed is that Bluray doesn’t work as well as DVD; Blurays take longer to load and are more difficult to navigate. For the difference in price I’d rather have the DVD. Keep in mind that if there is any difference in quality it only matters of you have a TV up to the task of displaying it.

  14. I have lots of old cassettes of every kind. It’s what I grew up with and they were fine at the time. But to be honest, they have their drawbacks, as do the machines that play them. I can’t begin to count all the tapes that have been chewed to pieces by faulty players. And the players that supposedly flip from Side A to Side B automatically NEVER worked. Car cassette decks were especially notorious for getting confused as to which side of the tape to play and, when they get confused they simply don’t work at all. Don’t get me wrong, I have great nostalgia for cassette tapes and still have all my old pre-recorded and home-recorded cassettes. They may not be perfect, but neither are CDs for that matter. Oh yeah, I forgot, no one seems to use CDs anymore either, Oh well.

  15. The Mask (1994) I haven’t seen this movie in years and it held up well. There’s nothing like Jim Carrey at his zany best, and this cartoony gag-fest is a perfect fit for him.

Howl’s Moving Castle (2004) This was the first anime movie I ever saw, back in the day, and it’s responsible for the love affair I’ve had with anime ever since. This movie is a masterpiece; one of Hayao Miyazaki’s best movies, and I enjoyed it so much I couldn’t even do anything after I watched it except stare into space in a transport of joy and pure inspiration. Perfect movie.

Xanadu (1980) Umm, okay, what do I say about a movie like this? It’s unique, I’ll give it that. I guess it’s one of those movies that absolutely perfect for a certain mood; a mood which only comes up once every blue moon. This movie was not a success at the box office, and that’s to be expected of such an anomalous piece of work, but honestly it is worth the ride. I have to admit that I love this movie; it has so much going on in terms of talent and originality. Most people are inclined to write it off because it doesn’t fit into any known category, but that’s part of what makes it great. It’s a true original loaded with great songs, dancing, a cool animated sequence provided by Don Bluth (Secret of NIMH) and the only example of 1940s Big Band music being seamlessly melded with 1980 rock & roll. It also doesn’t hurt that it features Olivia Newton-John and Gene Kelly.

Barbie and the Magic of Pegasus - I have been watching a lot of the animated Barbie movies recently after a friend recommended them to me, plus I missed out on them when they would air on TV when I was kid.  This one has quickly become one of my favorites.  Super fun fantasy adventure type of movie with good characters.  I think Annika might be my favorite Barbie protagonist.

Would like to recommend the animated Barbie movies in general to fans of MLP: FIM as they have a lot of the same voice actors.

Yes, absolutely! I LOVE the Barbie animated movies and have watched them all dozens of times each. They're among my favorite movies because they are written better than most animated movies which get more exposure due to their bigger budgets. But the Barbie movies have the content and the heart. The songs are great, the performances supurb, and there are over 40 of them to keep you entertained for a long time. They're infinitely rewatchable too.

absolutely wouldn't want that. What may seem like a sense of urgency from Nintendo and Disney towards their IP's, I call anti-consumer and corporate. Nintendo has no reason whatsoever to shut down passion projects from fans. Neither does Disney. Both companies are mainstream beyond belief and are immensely rich. Fighting against the most passionate fans gains them next to nothing. If Hasbro took the same route, the fandom would've been dead after a few weeks. There's always negative aspects of any fanbase, but the Brony fandom was also a constant parade of creativity, for better and worse. One of the most important things to me in life is passion, that includes the passion that is within others and I cannot stand when a corporation wants to stamp out that passion for the sake of their own ""publicity"". Modern Disney has earned my ire for many reasons and Nintendo has become incredibly petty in the Switch era, sadly. I want passion to be embraced, not torn down.

    ^This, this, this!^

Thank you foor saving me a lot of typing by articulating this so perfectly. I agree with you 100%

  17. I live and breathe all things Star Wars…except games. Still, I have played a few over the years, but most are older games. The ones I recall are:

Star Wars Arcade (arcades only, but GREAT game),

Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back (Atari),

    Shadows of the Empire (N64),

Star Wars Episode I Racer (N64),

    Jedi Power Battles (Dreamcast),

    Star Wars Demolition (Dreamcast),

    Star Wars Starfighter (XBox),

    Star Wars Battlefront (PS4).

There may have been others, but these are the only ones I can remember off the top of my head.

The original arcade game is my favorite ever. Shadows of the Empire was fun-ish (the Gall level was ridiculously hard). That game had some serious frustration issues involved. Episode I Racer was the best racing game of any kind I ever played; loads of fun. Starfighter was a big favorite; it had the perfect concept; fly ships and shoot stuff. Very simple and very satisfying. Battlefront wasn’t all it’s cracked up to be, for me anyway. It had its points but overall it didn’t deliver. But I can be hard to please when it comes to games. Now if you want to talk about Star Wars non-video games, I can go there.

  18. I have a Moto-G Power (2020 version). I chose it for its long battery life and bought it because now, with everything on earth running on some silly app, I can’t eat, drink, sleep or flush a toilet without one of these. This is the first and only smartphone I’ve ever had.
