Oh yeah, Quantum knows his stuff here, I admit to getting mild inspiration for a few of my essays from this take of his in the past. He did a good job scratching the surface then and just recently, this guy did a really good job going balls deep. 

This is just the very first part too.  This guy has told me that he likes my essays. Those don't even compare to this and what he has planned for the future. 

This year was the worst year for MLP fans? I honestly feel that title belongs to 2020 if we're going by recent years, given that we basically only had Pony Life that year, a show that was essentially developed for the sole purpose of Hasbro wanting something to hold MLP fans over as they waited for the G5 movie. Wouldn't call this a great year for MLP by any means, but calling a year where we got what I honestly felt was some truly fantastic MLP content from Make Your Mark in addition to some good content from Tell Your Tale "the worst year for MLP"...just doesn't click with me. 

From what I see, most MYM fans view Secrets of Starlight as the best special, something I agree with.

However, I also find the other three specials to be underrated. Is there any G5 special besides Secrets of Starlight that you feel deserves more credit than what it's given?

Which special of Make Your Mark do you like the best and which special do you find to be the most underrated? I have a good feeling most will pick Secrets of Starlight as their favorite with it being the most well-received special so far, so in an attempt to add some nuance to this topic, I'm also adding the option to choose which special you feel deserves more love the most. MYM specials are often agreed to not be as good as the ordinary episodes, but I'm sure there's at least one you'd like to see be appreciated more.

More pony plush is always welcome, for sure! These are the best types of pony toys in my opinion! Hope they have a Fluttershy plushie planned! 

Extremely sorry for the loss of your brother, Kyo. It's so heart-wrenching, having lost two legendary members of this site this year. May strongwilled_pegasus meet Jeric in heaven.

Only concern for me is not much new stuff, probably because Make Your Mark "ending" is going to make things very different for marketing. My nearest super Wal-Mart was completely sold out of pony stuff when I went there the weekend before Christmas and my Target only put one pony toy on clearance after Christmas, the Opaline Wing Surprise toy. 

This year, I beat seven games.

Didn't make as much progress as last year, but those games are far from the only ones I played and I fully intend to get more done in 2024. 

To celebrate Christmas, I wanted to ask you guys which "holiday fun" G5 special you prefer. Winter Wishday or Secrets of Starlight? I'm sure most would say Secrets of Starlight, but I'd also like to know which special you'd rather give a re-watch around this time of year. I've seen Secrets of Starlight twice, like it better myself, but I've also seen Winter Wishday twice and want to watch it again real soon for Christmas. 

Last Christmas, I had to open presents on Christmas Eve because I had to see my grandmother in Wisconsin on Christmas Day. This year, I'm not going out of town or out of my state for that matter.

How much have you enjoyed the show so far and what are you looking forward to in the second season? 

Now that the first season of Tell Your Tale is over with the initial order of seventy episodes having finished its run, how do you guys feel about the season as a whole? I thought it was good for the most part. It's no Make Your Mark, but I was honestly impressed at how there were no bad episodes, at least to me. Only a handful of episodes came close to being mediocre like Sparky's Sick and the recap episodes in my eyes. Season 2 should be coming very soon, so take this opportunity while you have it to discuss what you're expecting from it now. 

It's time to give this thread a bump because we now have three bunk criticisms from my list last year that were fully confirmed to be bunk by Make Your Mark Chapter 6.

“The stories of the Mane 5 in Make Your Mark’s pilot don’t come together and the dragon egg plot is unnecessary.”

“Sparky is just Flurry Heart but with no destiny.”

“G5 assassinated Twilight Sparkle’s character by having her steal the magic from the ponies of Equestria, making her a despot in creating the Unity Crystals.”

The day would not have been saved in MYM Chapter 6's Roots of All Evil if not for Sparky and the special powers he got from Maretime Bay's Together Tree, something that was foreshadowed all the way back in MYM Chapter 2's Growing Pains. His inclusion in the series was always necessary and he always had a destiny. You know how much I've already beaten into the ground how bunk Twilight's alleged character assassination is, but regardless, it has to be noted that Spike fully confirms in MYM Chapter 6's The Isle of Scaly that the ponies lost magic all by themselves. 

So now that we know what we do, are we going to be getting any admissions from the people who spread these fallacious comments that they were wrong? I'll hold my breath.  

For me, it's four eras. Seasons 1-3 were pretty good, especially Season 2, Seasons 4-5 were awesome, peak FiM to me, Seasons 6-7 were great for the most part despite a slight decline, and Seasons 8-9 were mostly good despite a more noticeable decline. I do not hate the Student 6 and the School of Friendship anywhere near as much as so many fans do, I just think the show was getting kind of same-sy at that point. 

That was a really good season finale! It almost felt to me like a parody of the recap episodes. Getting to see Posey play Allura was really cool and the episode really got good when Comet came into the picture. Funnily enough, he really isn't that much worse than the other ponies as an actor. I also really like how this season finale, just like the last part of MYM we have right now, isn't giving any nudges that the G5 shows are ending. Quite the opposite, actually. That line about Allura being in the sequel followed by Comet's line at the end...hm. 

I'm being completely serious.

I'm getting tired of so many people claiming that the Mane 5 were so much better in the movie, this is my essay explaining why I completely disagree.

So it seems that Make Your Mark Chapter 6 is overtaking Chapter 4 in terms of popularity...

Yeah, even though this guy doing the poll has defended G5...a good chunk of his audience is comprised of G5 haters and G5 movie purists. Chapter 6 dominating a poll like this despite the fact that some G5 reviewers are trying to make it out to be the worst of G5 is definitely something to consider.

It's clear from the topic's title that it's about G5, something you had to have known before clicking on it. You have made it clear multiple times in this section of the forums that you don't like anything about G5, directly stating it here. Thus this question of mine...

Definitely some awful news, though this isn't happening because of a pony problem. This is happening because the toy market's in a bad place right now with people just not buying toys anymore as a result of the economy being absolute trash. I still always see pony toys on shelves too and I don't think Hasbro is going to stop making toy-promotion content, something that has lately been proven to be capable of being extremely successful, over this.

Izzy would be proud! She should have you decorate her motor scooter next!

Great to have a newcomer to the fandom! There is no shame in starting with G5 first, even as you should definitely keep going through G4 and hopefully watch all of FiM. Wish you a great time on the site!
