@Bairro M Vagrant No, it's been canceled for a while now. They secretly canceled it in early 2024 (I think it was in February 2024), and then they announced the cancellation publicly in October 2024.

I am fine with the movie that started the generation, and I agree with most of your points. But mostly, G5 just need actual direction. From what I understand, they had a much deeper, lore-driven story in mind. But when they could not legally clear the continued use of G4 characters, they couldn't do the stories they had planned. And so the writing suffered and they just made stuff up as they went along.

And while I understand that, you can't pin all your hopes on one story. You need to have a back-up plan. You need to be able to craft another, equally good story. You need to have direction. These ponies could have been good, this generation had so much potential, but a lot of that potential was just wasted. The fact that Sunny hardly spends time investigating her father's legacy and just doing her own thing, as well as the fact that Zipp spends more time keeping the friends together and investigating the big mysteries than Sunny herself, is just a few examples of proof of wasted potential. But I don't need to go too deeply into it. Others have all ready explained this in deeper detail than me.

I don't want the pony franchise to end, but considered how G5 failed to become as big a phenomenon as it's predecessor, maybe it would be good for the brand to take a temporary hiatus. Just enough time to either re-evaluate what works and what doesn't, or wait until they have a better visionary to helm the next generation.
