  1. I'm enjoying the DC Superhero Girls reboot, but it does have a lot of issues that keep me from loving it.

It's cool man, I forgive you. I'm also sorry for coming off as a jerk.

As for the DC Superhero Girls, I'd give it about a 7/10 currently. I love the expressive animation, the chemistry of the cast is delightful, the humor is mostly on point, and it is fun to watch. But aside from the fact that I wish that the episodes were longer, the biggest Achilles Heel of the show is its depiction of the male heroes.

Almost every guy on the show is either feckless and incompetent or arrogant and standoffish. Hal Jordan is a dude bro jock and a coward, Aqualad is a loser, The Flash is taken down by bank robbers, Superman is now a vain showboat, and Robin is somehow even more obnoxious than his TTG counterpart.

Now I get they don't want the lead heroines to be overshadowed, but the show frequently tries to bolster them up by nerfing the guys or making them jerks, which is counterintuitive to the show's girl power message as it enforces the Men vs. Women argument and sends the message that females can only be competent if their male peers are incompetent. This is ESPECIALLY disappointing since many writers on this show also worked on FiM after Faust left and should know better.

It's especially odd given how the previous iteration of DC Superhero Girls generally did a good job of equally portraying males and females positively.

It wouldn't even bother me as much if the show didn't do it so frequently and had more examples of male characters who were competent AND supportive of the girls.
