Just suddenly thinking about something.
There's a particular forum feature I would really love to have.
Now I admit that I can be a bit of a potty mouth online and the one thing I do try and be is careful around here with my language. And to be absolutely honest with myself, that doesn't always go according to plan. Kind of surprised that I haven't been called out for it by moderation for it in the past. Who knows? Maybe I am more controlled than I think.
Anyway. To the point of a personal forum feature that I would love.
Whenever I unintentionally type a curse/swear word, it automatically converts it to say "squee".

Currently, swearing isn't strictly prohibited per se (excessive amount is though), so if moderation didn't poke you yet, then apparently you're keeping it within reasonable amounts.
Either way, word filtering, that replaces certain words with another is an option indeed. Now that you brought it up, replacing curse words with *squee* wouldn't be a bad idea in my opinion - not as optional feature, but ya know, by default, for everyone. I think it would make sense to have such words filtered out on a pony forum.

I actually know what you are talking about.
Once upon a time, I had a private message board that I shared with a girl that I was dating. Without realizing it, the message board had filters for curse words automatically activated. I was sharing information about a Japanese band that I like (Rider Chips). One of their debut albums was called Hajimemashite, which means "Pleased To Meet You". ... Did you catch that? Again, the name of the album was called Hajimemashite. Again, this a Japanese word, NOT a curse word. But the filter recognized it as a curse word and automatically changed it to something like Hajimemashoote. The automatic change was giving me a mild panic attack until I realized that there must have been some parental controls in the settings; and I was right. If excessive cursing is the real problem, then would it be possible to implement a counter? As people are typing a message, the counter detects how many curse words have been used. If your message exceeds a certain number, maybe you get some kind of warning message? Or is it just not possible to make a feature like that right now?
