I am a social recluse, I suppose, and a very private person. I recall someone once told me I am a very difficult person to get to know and I suppose that's an accurate statement. If I have nothing of value to say, I usually say nothing. I'm just a woman who exists in a world that I try to understand, but it eludes me.
I have not really met anyone really. Part of why I enjoy watching shows about friendship is because I myself have no friends.

As for the username, the idea came from the fact that the word "Rarity" itself is used in gemology to refer to the value of a gemstone. It's an actual measurement, which I always assumed her name was intended as a reference to. Unlike most characters, she and Applejack lack a second name, so I just assume her surname is just something they never mention, but she always had one.
This is further evidenced by the fact that Pinkie Pie has a middle name that is never used as does her sister. So I always assumed that characters all have surnames they're just never used, so I thought it'd be a fitting surname for her.
