Okay so over the last 7 days many things have occurred the main ones being the cancelation of school and along with that my A levels and I came done with a bad cold which given the climate I was very concerned by. This has meant that over the past week I have been very stressed.
Saying goodbye to the school was very rushed as we weren't given much notice and I am still not happy with the closure. The plan is to have a proper send of later in the year. The main concern is that of A levels; I am not super concerned as my predicted, mock and continual grades throughout the year have been of the required standard. However, I still feel disappointed and frustrated that I won't be able to properly take them along with the uncertainty of how exactly Ofqual will decide grades.
But I do now have 6 months basically free. I am hoping to get back into my lent projects which have derailed and actually start being active in the forums rather than just posting status updates.
I hope everyon is well and good wherever they are and helping where possible

@Eniac hey bro... Dont worry about the small stuff. when i got a job.... College? Highchool? You dont really get to use all of it.... Only the basics.... The only reason they told you to go to school is because they said so. Before I get to work my company gave me training because they know that skills i learned from college is useless to them hahaha. So yeah im just saying.... Don't sweat it. You'll make it! Stay cool...say no to drugs. Vote me for president.

So I have completed quite a bit of work on the robot over the last week, I would've submitted an earlier update if it weren't for the fact that I have felt terrible over the last 2-3 days. However, I have been doing robotics work throughout the week, though I didn't yesterday (didn't really do anything yesterday, mainly slept). Anyway, two things have happened: First I have completed the pieces they just need to be attached to motors and we're ready to move some robot, Second I have completed the live video stream (took most of today becuase I am not good at trouble shooting sockets and haven't done anything with them outside of sandboxed environments) But it works! Action plan now is to wait for my glue gun to arrive and then I can start assembling the robot. Then it's a question of calibration and controls (hoping to use some sort of RC to control it). The final step would actually be to set it up as a internet server so that I can control it from anywhere! I have never really looked into servers, though I know their basic operation from my computing course. The main issue I foresee is the latency of video as it is already pretty strained I will get a video up eventually, but I am still working on it's efficiency as trying to screen record and stream seems to drop the frame rate down to powerpoint.

Did some physical sketches instead. I am unsure as to whether I want to continue doing more general real life sketches or go back to doing cartoon sketches. Might do a few more cartoon sketches over the weekend.

So moving away from the mlp cartoons agian I have made some pose sketches and a couple other sketches.
I did some more work on the robot however it wasn't anything major enough to justify a blog entry

Before I forget: I have been watching the show exclusively on Netflix (including the movie) however Netflix only has the first 5 seasons. So I over the last 3 months I have slowed down my watching to avoid finishing all of the show that Netflix provides. But I am only delaying the inevatable (I can't spell). So the question:
Where can I watch the remaining seasons (6-9) of mlp? For reference I live in the UK in terms of TV options

Didn't post here yesterday becuase I did sketches of my hands (I did the same today) and thought that I would only post the pony sketches I did on here. But I decided against that today becuase I probably going to do a couple more of these still life drawings to broaden the project but I don't want to stop posting. Anyway, here they are:

So all the pieces of the robot have been cut out. All that remains is for me to drill the holes to connect the pieces to the motors, as well as drill the hole at the top of the chasis to allow the control board to stick out. This sticking out bit is so that connecting the motors to the board is easier. So far so good. Recently I have been doing more work on the project keeping in check with the original lent project idea. The measurements have been fairly accurate though not perfect, but hey it's a personal project with the pieces hand cut so it's never going to be perfect

Work is being done on the project. I have managed to cut out and smooth off half of the leg pieces and the main chasis pieces. Hopefully get a few more cut tomorrow

Tried to quickly sketch young apple jack. Not quite right but fairly hapoy with the results. Need to start inking and colouring these sketches

Nothing much to say. I have outlined and drawn the pieces that I need to cut out and put together to make the robot physical. The only missing pieces are the connecting pieces which will just be small blocks of wood rather than sheets of wood. The robot is looking to be quite squat but hopefully it should still walk, if not I will just have to recreate the legs.

Another G4 sketch. Not as well executed this time as I had no references for a pony leaning on a table. And another chibi-ish style working out some designs and mathematics, this gives the back view which I haven't done before

Only jsut got back now from debating all afternoon so missed the sketch for yesterday. But nothing tomorrow evening so I can do two and cleanup the previous sketches.

Also quick note, I was at a debating competition today hence the late post. Didn't get through but I wasn't expecting to as it was the finals next stage, but the feedback was very contradictory: Include prememptive rebuttal but don't create arguments that don't exist, explain your mechanism clearly but don't spend more than 30 seconds of a 19 minute debate! Anyway, the debate itself was great: We would abolish the house of Lords (I live in england). Anyway mini rant over sleep well

Speed of sketching improving day by day. Is the quality still good? Debatable, hoping to outline and colour these sketches later in the week.

Well not necessarily regrets, but I am feeling like I am just posting things in here to say I have done something for the day. These are occuring later in the night so it's just chewing into sleeping time. Tomorrow and Wednesday I am unsure whether I'll even get a sketch in. But in light of how my time has been split I have a revision to how I will go about these challenges. I will aim to get a sketch out everyday, like today's it can be a quick 5-10 minute sketch if anything this is helping me with quickly getting a pose done. But for this project I will be doing as much as I can when I can. I am thinking of also placing a ban on Media (Netflix, Youtube, Snapchat etc.) and instead use that time for the project. But I don't want to be posting in here for the sake of posting any longer. Next post will either be all the pieces drawn or them cut out. No daily updates as nothing is getting done that rapidly.

So I learnt today that I can do a quick sketch of a chibi pony in about 5 minutes. The reason being I am extremely tired. Less than 6 hours sleep and then going into a full day of school and work which I haven't done for two weeks has really taken its toll. Will still try and sketch out some of the robot pieces. Anyway to anypony reading this:

So now that I am back out my house with access to all my motors, the raspberry pi and wood I was able to carry out a couple of measurings onto the wood. I decided to use yesterdays sketches as a rough guide as you where to place the motors but actually using the motors and board to get the correct dimensions. Tomorrow and over the week I probably will only be able to slowly draw out all of the pieces without cutting them, that will probably have to wait untill the weekend. Tbh I think this was possibly a bad project for lent, the sketching one is great becuase it doesn't need to take long but I can do it anywhere at anytime. It's also a skill with no set restrictions or goals I just sketch a pose I think is interesting or will stretch my ability a bit more each time. This requires more methodical approach while not necessarily always chipping away. But it has kept the project at the forefront of my mind so I guess that's a benefit. After this weekend it will be easier to work on it becuase all the chasis will be ready I just need to program it. Then I can try cool things but that's a week away. Any anypony reading this, which I doubt, sorry for the boring tediousness of the project so far.

The more of these sketches I do it makes me appreciate how amazingly talented and more importantly skilled all of the artists on this forum are
. I tried drawing my OC in the normal style and it took so many tries that this sketch alone took 30-45 minutes! I just kept getting the proportions really wrong and its a simple pose
! So I think I will return to the chibi style becuase I feel I have a method there. Though I now see that I made some of the heads too large in my chibi style. Anyway, I will colour this bad boy in at some point. But I have got robotics to do
.
On that note. My OC now is showing of his cutie mark. It's too large in this image, I will be scaling it down a bit. It's a robotic arm representing his passion for creating gadgets

But not too be defeated I have completed a sketch. It is a perfect embodiment of how I felt over the last few hours as I transfered files from my grandad's old laptop to his new one.

...I don't like it that large on my screen. Also I will keep working on poses but will soon work on adding props and eventually backgrounds. Should also try the actual show style as well as drawing other ponies, such as show ones or anypony on this server (if they allow me) But that's a way off

Definitely should have just gone with one lent project
. So far have been bouncing between the two. But anyway I am making progress in both so it is accomplishing what it was put in place todo. Couple days in the future already where I will probably have to choose one or the other

So yesterday I did not manage to complete any work on the robot project in terms of physical. I would like to claim that I had some concepts of it worked out in my head but that's a stretch. I have been done for the weekend with my grandparents so have been doing activities outside of these minor projects. But I have 30 minutes at the end of the day to try and squeeze in at least one of my projects. In yesterdays case I quickly whipped up a sketch, but today I have taken measurements and will get a few ideas down for how the parts will be formed out of wood.

Just before the day is up I am posting my sketch of the day. It is looking this is more of the Lent project and the robot being the side project. I didn't have time to work on the robot due to school and then travelling to my grandad's, though these are just excuses. Anyway will get some work done on it tomorrow. For now enjoy sketch:
