Gloaming

Art, specifically animation, and writing have been lifelong loves of mine. I’ve been making illustrations since I was five. No joke; my first clear memory is of drawing a mouse stick figure and making up an entire world for him as I went. I’ve grown a lot since then. Charcoals and graphite are my strengths, but I have experience in most media. I’m really trying to expand into markers at the moment. I’m also just starting digital painting, so please excuse my shoddy pfp. I’m still a novice. I don’t do actual commissions because of this, but I’d be happy to draw things for people if they ask nicely!

Writing is the lifeblood of my art. Sure, it’s pretty on it’s own, but every piece I’ve ever drawn has a story. Sometimes I write them down, but most of them live in my head. It can be discouraging sometimes. I just can’t make the stories connect the same way on paper as in my thoughts. That said, I’m working on several... novels? I suppose you could call them that. I hope to publish them someday. I write mainly fantasy, but also dabble in sci-fi and fanfiction. I’m open to letting others read them, if anyone’s hungry for an anthology of fake folklore. 

Traditional animation like golden age Disney, Batman: the Animated Series, and almost all of Tim Burton’s films are some of my all-time favorite works. I love cel animation, and I almost wish I’d been born a couple decades earlier so I could’ve been a part of it. Spirit, The Prince of Egypt, the Hunchback of Notre Dame, Ben 10, and Batman: TAM are the best of the industry, in my opinion. I am an avid fan of classic film series: Star Trek, The Lord of the Rings, The Chronicles of Narnia, and Star Wars. Please don’t ask me to pick between DC or Marvel; it breaks my heart! I’m also a big fan of some older Anime like Ruroni Kenshin, Mushishi, Bleach, Fruits Basket, and Naruto. I’m hoping to get into Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure, Cowboy Bebop, and Mobile Suit Gundam soon. Some of my favorite authors include Dostoyevsky, Willa Cather, and Dante. I’m a bit of a classics nut. My very favorite book that I ever read is A Death in the Family by 
James Agee. Though you shouldn’t read it if you’re not into gothic fiction. It’s pretty depressing. I learned a lot of my writing style from reading the works of these authors, so I treasure them. 

I’m always excited to learn something new, especially about the arts and sciences. I’m currently a Bio student in university, and am enjoying the heck outta it. Marine Biology is a passion of mine. If anyone needs any weird facts about the deep sea, I’m your man! This love really influences my creature design, and I love speculative biology too. If you need help coming up with ways to justify why your aliens look the way they do, I’d love to help out!
