Ahhh... So, these have been a couple of interesting and reflective nights.
When celebrating the Winter Solstice, I decided to watch SFS' Snowdrop animation, one that always resonated with me, and it had been a while since last time. Needless to say, I got very sentimental, thinking of how vast our history is, all the centuries we've had as species to understand the beauty of both moon and snow, and here I am, a miniscule flake that only has so much time on this Earth to try and grasp it, before fading into the Aether.
"Why be so dramatic about it? It's just a change of season" Some would think... Not quite. Not for us, at least.
Ever since we were little, Autumn and Winter helped us in many ways. Our favourite garments, softest blankets, delicious cups of hot chocolate, breathable air that does not make us dizzy; they are all by the colder sides of the seasons' garden. Often times, external factors are guilty of staining its reputation. Last year, we were dealing with different hardships, and depression settled in for a few months. Amidst all of it, Winter was there. Sure, it didn't erase all of our problems, but it didn't make them worse, either. The low temperatures, short days, and quiet ambience go hand in hand, no matter how bad our situations might be or have been.
As expected, this was proven right this year, too; only now, we are in a much better place. My recent conversations with some dear members —who have become close friends— have enhanced the coming of our favourite season even more, and showed me that I can share my happiness with people, instead of hiding in solitude another year. They reminded me that Winter can be happy too.
So, to my friends, if they happen to read this: thank you. You make this ice-loving filly incredibly happy.
I wish, I hope, I dream, I pray. You will always be here to stay.
I vow, with twinkles in my heart, our friendship shall never fall apart.
Love, Ana.
