My grandfather's family was once the target of revolutionaries. Later, with the help of the Church of England, they survived. Secondary school was rough. Most teachers there were proper up themselves. When students struggled, they never wondered if they'd messed up – just punished us instead. Once, a teacher made me speak in class. I had a bad throat infection and couldn't get a word out. She wouldn't believe me, made me stand the whole lesson. Reckon I might have Asperger's. When teachers asked questions, I never gave the 'right' answers. Got so bad, a few teachers chucked my desk out the classroom in a rage. During a dorm inspection, I was studying Japanese. Said one phrase – teacher took the hump thinking I'd insulted him. Gave me a kick for it. -
